I visited a Chinese restaurant located a little down the street from the industrial road towards the arena after a long time. I had avoided it due to the strong smell of cigarettes, but it was empty when I visited, which was a relief. I remember their set meals being quite substantial. I had the pork cutlet noodles. The cutlet was thin with a strong flavor, although the meat quality wasn't that great. However, it was sufficient when paired with the noodles.

Location is Hakodate, behind Aratoko High School, one street in from the industrial road, before the bridge, on the left side after the tram street, one street in front of the racecourse, passing the racecourse parking lot straight ahead after crossing the bridge, a parking lot on the right side in front of the store with space for about 5 cars. The entrance to the store is up the external stairs to the second floor. Inside the store, there are counter seats for 24 people, 3 table seats, and a raised seating area for a larger table. I ordered the lunch set menu which includes one item from category A and one item from category B for 900 yen (as of November 2022). Category A includes 6 types of noodles, while category B includes half portions of rice bowls and donburi dishes. You can choose one item from each category. I chose the half portion of Ankake Ramen and Chicken Miso. The half portion of Ankake Ramen seemed like a regular size compared to other noodle dishes. The place seemed to be run by a couple, with the lady managing the front of the house and another person busy in the kitchen. It was a relatively relaxed atmosphere during my visit on a weekday around 12:00 PM. There were two solo diners and a couple as other customers. The food was served hot without the noodles getting soggy, and both dishes were generously filled with vegetables. I hope the prices stay reasonable, especially considering the current situation. Until 2:00 PM during lunchtime, you can get a complimentary cup of lukewarm coffee with orders over 800 yen. The coffee is served in a pot, and it's just a small touch. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I will definitely visit again. Menu items and prices are inclusive of tax. I tried to ask about the pronunciation of "醬爆飯" but got no response!

I used it for lunch. Today I really wanted to eat salt-based ankake yakisoba, so I searched on Tabelog and visited this place nearby for the first time. The interior of the restaurant is small, with a few counter seats, 3 tables, and 2 tatami rooms. I ordered the shrimp ankake yakisoba that I was looking for. The taste is a comforting Japanese-style Chinese flavor. For those who are strict about the cleanliness of the interior, it may be a bit questionable. Thank you for the meal.

I have been noticing this shop because its sign outside is eye-catching. There is a parking lot on the first floor with a noren curtain hanging on the stairs. Inside, there are two counter seats and three tables on a small raised platform. The menu is usually in a pouch on each table, but sometimes it may be missing, so it's good to check with the neighboring table. There is a recommended set meal called "Napu" by the owner. Personally, I was curious about the super spicy menu, but I ended up ordering the chicken soba and salmon fried rice. It's convenient that they are open throughout the day without taking a lunch break.

The chemical seasoning is not too strong, the salt level is just right, and the shrimp is perfect in size and texture. It's very delicious... The only strange thing is that getting a large serving of shrimp yakisoba costs an extra 400 yen. I was a bit anxious about how much would be served when I ordered it, but the portion turned out to be just right. It's even more puzzling. It's more cost-effective to order a small salmon fried rice than to get a large serving of shrimp yakisoba. If the shrimp yakisoba could be included in a lunch set, it would definitely be the top choice in Hakodate. My questioning and dissatisfaction stem from my love for shrimp yakisoba. If you prefer soy sauce-flavored yakisoba with mixed vegetables, there is also a set available, so you would likely give it a high rating.

The shop is located along the road leading to the racecourse from the industrial road. It is on the second floor, with a garage below. The interior feels like it used to be a coffee shop in the past. They offer several lunch menu options where you can choose your favorite items. I tried the dim sum lunch set which included crab fried rice, spring rolls, fried chicken, siu mai, steamed shrimp dumplings, wonton soup, jellyfish salad, and shrimp chili. Most of the dishes seemed to be commercial food. The mapo tofu rice bowl was hot and salty but not very spicy. The dipping noodles were average. It seems like this place may be better for ordering individual items rather than set menus.

This is a Chinese restaurant in Hanazono-cho. It is located along the Sangyo-doro, but a little off the main road, so it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. The location is a bit tricky to find, but they have a parking lot, so it's convenient to go by car. I went for lunch and I think ordering a set menu here is a good deal. It would be great if the prices were a bit more reasonable, but considering the set menu, it's decent value for money. I ordered the half rice bowl lunch, which came with demi-glace fried rice (half), salad, soup, and almond jelly. The taste was just average Chinese cuisine.

I went to have lunch with my volunteer colleagues before the afternoon meeting. We chose this restaurant called "Chinese Cuisine Emperor Lin" because the name caught our attention. Personally, I distinguish between "Chinese cuisine" and "Chinese cuisine". "Chinese cuisine" refers to dishes adapted for Japanese taste, while "Chinese cuisine" refers to dishes from the mainland. The restaurant was a two-story building with the first floor as a parking lot and the second floor as the dining area. When we sat at our table, we picked up the menu, which was written in Chinese characters. The menu was called "菜譜" which is similar to the French word "menu". Interestingly, Chinese and French have similarities in culinary terms, making it easier to understand the dishes. We ordered the Mapo Tofu set meal, which tasted more spicy than numbing. It was similar to the Japanese-style Mapo Tofu commonly found in many places. Although it wasn't exactly what I expected as "Chinese cuisine", it was still delicious as "Chinese cuisine". I noticed that they also had "炸醤麺" (Zha Jiang Mian) on the menu, so I might have to come back to try that dish. However, it was listed as "ジャージャー麺" (Jaja-men), so I'm worried it might be the sweet and savory Japanese-style version. My futile resistance to find authentic Chinese cuisine in the local area will continue, but that's just how it goes!
