Workplace drinking party. The place we chose was Tori no Kai. This restaurant has a wonderful course available on specific days of the week. We opted for the ☆[Limited to Sundays-Thursdays!] Pork Shabu-Shabu + 11 dishes all-you-can-eat and drink course! [120 minutes]☆. It's a menu that includes all-you-can-eat pork shabu-shabu and other dishes. However, there are some rules to follow - you can order shabu-shabu for each person, but for the other dishes, you can only order a maximum of four items at a time (three items for 2-4 people). On this day, there were six of us, so we could only order a maximum of four items at a time, which sometimes left us feeling a bit unsettled like, "Is that all...? (´・ω・`)". Our first order was definitely the shabu-shabu. We ended up putting too many vegetables in, turning it into just a hot pot haha. But the meat was delicious, surprisingly. Maybe it's because of my age, but the ponzu sauce tasted really good. The sesame sauce was tasty too, but it got a bit too rich towards the end. Of course, it was all-you-can-drink (*・∀・*). Edamame. A classic side dish for beer. Even though we were already full, we couldn't help but snack on these addictive legumes, edamame. It looked like a small portion because we had already shared it, but it came piled high. Karaage (Fried Chicken). Freshly fried karaage is always delicious! However, with only four pieces, the remaining two had to wait for the next round. French Fries. It's been a while since I had buttered fries. Salmon sashimi. As expected from a port town, it was very delicious. It was so popular that many people went for seconds, but due to the limit of four items, it took some time to reach everyone. Napa Cabbage and Tofu Salad. I was having seconds of meat around this time, but the fatty taste was getting a bit overwhelming, so I ordered this for a palate cleanser. Salads are always a good choice. They refresh your mouth. The dressing was slightly spicy, but I couldn't really taste it. Assorted Pickles. Back in my student days, I used to say, "I prefer animal-based over plant-based!" but I've finally come to appreciate the goodness of pickles. The pickled eggplant was especially delicious. Vanilla Ice Cream. Another palate cleanser. I've only been eating palate cleansers since a while ago. I feel like I've eaten a lifetime's worth of meat already. That kind of night. Takeout menu from Tori no Kai. Fathers all over the country (and of course mothers too) tend to buy souvenirs when they go out for drinking parties, right? It's the same for us. While my wife understands, young children are like, "Wow~ Dad, you get to go out at night! With your friends! And eat delicious food!!" Drinking parties are quite common in our workplace, happening several times a month. So, it's essential to bring souvenirs each time. Since zangi is a bit boring, I decided to go for something different this time - Ebi Mayo (Shrimp Mayonnaise). This should go well with another round of beer. The shrimp is fried and then coated in mayonnaise. It was a bit bland though. It's a good side dish, but when paired with alcohol, a stronger flavor would be better. Not just shabu-shabu, but also all-you-can-eat dishes, and all-you-can-drink alcohol and soft drinks. And all of this for only 2,980 yen without tax, which is very cheap. However, the time it took for the food to be served was quite long, perhaps as part of a strategy to fill us up. It took over 20 minutes for the karaage that we ordered right at the beginning to arrive. Maybe it was just crowded that day...but still, it made us wonder. Shabu-shabu meat refills, on the other hand, came promptly. As we continued, we started noticing some inconsistencies. Like, "Wasn't this here before?" kind of moments. The final noodle dish portion was enough for the total number of people, but it came in a quantity that seemed to feed everyone. I didn't take any pictures, but they had a great selection of alcoholic beverages too! I'd love to go back again.
