I'm wondering what category eat-in should be classified as. During the 20% off time for pre-made items, a bento box that is originally priced at 990 yen, containing a combination of sakura shrimp cream croquette and popular items (pork cutlet, shrimp fry), was priced at 792 yen. It was a bit cold but not completely cold. I was unsure whether to put tonkatsu sauce or tartar sauce on the sakura shrimp cream croquette. Although soy sauce would have been my best choice, I decided to eat it without any sauce. And that was the right decision. Some eat-in places make fried foods to order, but I personally find that even when they are a bit cold, they taste better.

The main dish was complemented with a juicy and tender Menchi Katsu with a crispy coating that provided a satisfying texture. The blend of five cheeses added a rich flavor and depth to the dish. Although a bit pricey, I would definitely want to eat this again.

After visiting a few shops with my friend, Nocchimu, I started to feel a little hungry. Nocchimu mentioned that she wanted to eat a katsu sandwich, so we decided to go to a nearby place, which happened to be in the Kusakuen Aeon mall. When we arrived in the evening, the place was crowded with a few customers in line ahead of us. Saboten is known for their tonkatsu, but they also offer other fried foods. Many people were buying food for dinner, and the bento boxes caught my eye. However, we stuck to our plan and bought two types of katsu sandwiches to share: a regular katsu sandwich and a menchi katsu sandwich. The sandwiches were moist, which was a pleasant surprise as some can be dry. The menchi katsu was thick and had a mix of finely ground and coarsely ground meat, giving it a smooth texture with occasional bursts of texture. The sauce and mustard added a nice kick to the flavors. Even though the sandwiches had cooled down, they were still soft and enjoyable to eat. In November 2018, I visited a tonkatsu restaurant called "Tonkatsu Shinjuku Saboten Delica Kuwon Ion Shopping Center Store". Since my wife is away for childbirth, I have to fend for myself for dinner. I usually buy a "15-vegetable salad" for 298 yen (tax included) at Hibara Ion Sapporo Kuwon Store, but with funds running low, I opted for a 108 yen (tax included) cabbage mix this time. It's a mix of cabbage and leaf lettuce, finely shredded and fluffy. It's crunchy and tasty. 108 yen is quite a deal.

Dinner in Sapporo was decided to be the fried chicken from Fuhoto and the pork cutlet here. We've used the New Sapporo store for appetizers a few times, and the taste is always pretty consistent. However, the deli food from AEON is just not that great. It may not compare to Fuhoto's fried chicken, but the pork cutlet here was quite delicious as well. The breading was crispy and the meat had no unpleasant taste. My wife: Yeah, it's really good and safe choice! (≧∇≦)

Received canned curry as a gift, had 6 cans sitting in the pantry, decided to consume them by making "katsu curry" with added cutlets. On the third day of the new year, feeling tired of traditional New Year's dishes, thought about switching to curry? Visited the Aeon in Kuwon, ordered tonkatsu @463 yen (tax included) and two pieces of hirekatsu @174 yen each (tax included). The details of the menu are not provided as I didn't take notes, but there is a variety of options from tonkatsu to different types of meat. The tonkatsu was tender and delicious, looking forward to trying the menchikatsu and aji fry next time.

On a certain weekday, I appeared at the usual Ion Kuwazon for lunch, but I was visiting the food court too often and was at a loss. I happened to discover Saboten, a takeout shop in the deli corner, and decided to visit for the first time. From the menu that day, I ordered the "Three-Grain Pork Loin Bento (810 yen)" and decided to go for the "extra rice (+54 yen)" as recommended by the staff. So I took a bite...huh? The meat is cold! I assumed the rice would be piping hot, so I expected the cutlet to be hot as well, but it was not hot, it was cold (;_;). The batter was pretty normal with a decent thickness, but the meat was a bit wrinkled, with hardly any fat, and I couldn't really tell the benefits of the three-grain pork. Other items included shredded cabbage, simmered kelp, pickles, kinpira burdock, and the hot rice was appreciated, but it didn't seem to be of high quality. I couldn't help but wonder, even though it was close to closing time, why was it so cold? I received a bento with a grand name, but cold cutlet. Thank you for the meal.

Today's last stop was at Aeon Kuwanazono Shopping Center. My friend mentioned that they wanted something warm like udon after having too many cold dishes. It was my first time visiting Kuwanazono, even though I have been to Hakkon, Motomachi, Hirao, and Naeho before. My friend suddenly started feeling unwell, so we decided to buy bento boxes and head back home without having a meal. We got a 20% off "Pork Cutlet Bento" and an "Ebi Katsu Sandwich". For side dishes, we also bought "Pork Cutlet, Cheese Roll, and Ume Shiso Roll". The Pork Cutlet Bento came with konbu tsukudani, kinpira gobo, shibazuke, and shredded cabbage. The pork cutlet was still warm, and I think it would have been even more delicious if we had it hot. The pork was flavorful and tender even when it cooled down. I would definitely buy it again. It's not much different from a convenience store bento. The bread is soft in some places, but it absorbed moisture and was not great. As for the pork cutlet... it got me... Maybe if I had bought the fried dish as a single item, the result wouldn't have been like this and I regret it. As I ate the third piece, I thought the one from Lawson might be tastier, but my hunger was satisfied. The service had about a 72% smile rate, with safe and friendly customer service. Since they were cold, we warmed them up in the oven before eating. It had been a while since I had Saboten, but their fried dishes are still delicious! The crispy coating was great, but especially the hirekatsu was very tasty! The cream croquette was also satisfying to eat after a long time. The oyster fry was a bit small and lonely looking, but the taste was good. Lately, I haven't been buying pre-made fried foods as much, but sometimes it's nice to have these kinds of dishes! On the back side of the store, there is a food court where customers can dine in.

I went to buy my husband's recommended katsu sandwich in March, but I couldn't purchase it because the food court was under renovation. This time, I visited for a rematch. They had options like pork cutlet sandwich, shrimp cutlet sandwich, and cheese mille-feuille cutlet sandwich, but I couldn't decide. Then I found a mixed cutlet sandwich (470 yen) that had all three types, so I bought it. Each type was delicious with perfect balance of bread, cutlet, and sauce. The katsu musubi, bento, and side dishes also looked tasty. I would definitely like to use it again for picnic bento or dinner.

Shinjuku Saboten is a quietly beloved tonkatsu chain. I didn't have time for a leisurely lunch, so I decided to try their katsu musubi. It's like a tonkatsu version of a tem musubi. It comes with four small rice balls with a bite-sized piece of tonkatsu in each. It also comes with a small towel and pickles, and costs around 400 yen (sometimes cheaper in the evening when they have leftovers). It's quite tasty, but the small size of the tonkatsu in each ball might leave you feeling a bit unsatisfied (you might feel more satisfied with a tonkatsu sandwich). However, the small size makes it easy to eat, so it might be good for women. It's convenient for grabbing a quick takeout bento when you're short on time.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of pork cutlet sandwiches or tonkatsu, and I don't feel like spending money on them. So my wife and I agreed to try the shrimp cutlet sandwich for 440 yen. The crispy texture of the breading and the smell of the shrimp are not bad, and the quality seems quite good. The price is actually quite reasonable for this. In comparison, Inoue, a tonkatsu restaurant, doesn't offer prices like this. However, they may not have shrimp there (sweat). They also have other bento options, but they are relatively more expensive than places like Hotto Motto. It seems like they take pride in their cutlet dishes. What's not so satisfying is that they used to have a special sale day once a week where you could get a shrimp fry for 100 yen, but that's no longer the case. Now, a single shrimp fry costs around 157 yen, and the larger ones are over 200 yen. That's almost 800 yen for three shrimp! That just doesn't seem right. The pricing seems a bit off. Poor cost performance (＞＜；)
