I visited a pub that I was curious about in the evening. There were already two groups of customers at the counter seats. I sat in a private room and looked for the menu, but it wasn't on the table. As I observed the restaurant, I noticed various things written on the walls. I wonder what they say...? "Freshly caught flounder available!" "Beef stew available!" and so on, like the "available!" series (laughs). It's funny to see something like "Freshly caught bugs available!" on the wall. The owner seemed a bit serious at first, but he turned out to be completely different! He may seem rough, but he has a playful side, right? When my wife ordered oolong tea, a 2-liter bottle came out. And the food was placed on the partition in the private room (laughs). When he brought the octopus tempura, he said, "That's a bit too much (laughs)" with just one word. He may seem rough and careless, but for some reason, he's likable! As more customers started coming in, the place became full! Most of them seemed to be regulars. Sometimes he helped out by cleaning up or assisting in the kitchen (laughs). Maybe he noticed that we were new, he said, "Oh? Is this your first time here?" The owner was really funny and the food was delicious, so I called our neighbor, MK, through LINE (laughs). Cheese spring rolls were crispy with lots of cheese. The deep-fried taro shoots were exquisite! I'm not a fan of mountain vegetables, but I can eat taro shoots. The taro shoots were so delicious! It's a seasonal item, so maybe it's limited time only? I want to eat this again! The octopus tempura is something we often order at pubs. My wife likes it, so we always order it if it's on the menu (laughs). The portion was quite large, as he had mentioned "a bit too much." And the octopus was plump and delicious! The pork skewers were a bit expensive at 400 yen, but we got 3 skewers, so the cost performance was not bad. And the meat quality... it was tender and delicious! The ankake yakisoba used a type of mountain vegetable from Hokkaido called "takenoko." It's different from the bamboo shoots commonly known in other regions! In other regions, they are called "sasa bamboo" or "hime bamboo," right? But in Hokkaido, it's definitely "takenoko"! It was rare to see this used in ankake yakisoba. The owner's tempura skills were amazing, or maybe it was the lack of bitterness or astringency, but the taro shoots were soft and had a hint of taro shoot flavor. I want to eat this again! Just as we were about to eat the yakisoba, Matchan and Kanchan's husband and wife appeared! Matchan and Kanchan ordered: - Draft beer - Hormone (offal) deep-fried - Grilled squid *The photo was provided by Matchan and Kanchan. When they ordered the grilled squid, the owner said, "Squid? We don't have any!" (laughs) Maybe he searched in the freezer? At first glance, his words and actions seem cold, but that's not the case (laughs). The owner is cool! We chatted and laughed as usual. The topic of the mysterious water came up, and then we talked about K○n's comments (laughs). The owner brought out a cheesecake as a service (laughs). "Do you want it?" It was cold and delicious! And we had a great time, but it passed by in no time (laughs). When it was time to pay, I chatted with the owner, and he said, "Well, I have to go to the hospital." I asked, "What happened?" He replied, "Oh, you know, my butt (laughs)." There was a notice on the wall about him being hospitalized and the restaurant being closed during that time! The hospital he mentioned has a great director! I said, "With that director, your butt will be fine!" The slightly younger woman next to the owner (his wife?) said, "Just have it castrated!" Everyone burst into laughter! Anyway, the owner is a fun guy! I will definitely go back!
