"Purchased 'Pistachio Eclair' and 'Rum Ball' at 'Umeya'. The 'Pistachio Eclair' had pistachio cream topping on a regular eclair, but the pistachio flavor was not very strong. It had plenty of custard cream inside, giving it a traditional eclair taste. The 'Rum Ball' was quite large and had a hefty price tag to match. It felt heavy and was soaked in rum, with a strong rum flavor that could make non-drinkers feel tipsy. It also had almond slices for a crunchy and fragrant accent. The shop used to have a reputation for being very affordable, but like many places, the prices have increased over time. 'Umeya' at Marui Imai Sapporo Store, Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store, Daimaru Matsuzakaya Sapporo Basement Floor, 011-205-2077, 10:30 AM - 7:30 PM, Closed on days as per Marui Imai Sapporo Store."

There was one here too.... Occasionally, you come across character-shaped sweets. It might just be my imagination, but there are a lot of "bears". Look, there's one here too! It's definitely a bear!! There are also deer, squirrels, foxes, pheasants, snow insects!? etc., many wild animals on the road, but in the pastry shop, it's always bears! I bought this for about 500 yen, which is about half the size of a shortcake. I thought it was relatively expensive, but it must be for the craftsmanship. The bear is delicious! * Huh, isn't it a bear? No way, it's definitely a bear, right!?

After finishing work, I stopped by and saw a Pistachio Eclair in the showcase. It seemed unusual so I decided to buy it. It had a generous amount of pistachio cream, although the pistachio flavor was subtle. If you're looking for a rich pistachio taste, you might find it lacking. However, as a little accent, it complemented the eclair well and I enjoyed it. I noticed a regular eclair next to it, so I might try that next time. It's not common to find eclairs in cake shops, even though you can buy them at supermarkets or convenience stores now. But buying them at a specialty shop like this still brings excitement.

"Umeya" in the Marui Imai underground shopping area in Sapporo city. A long-established confectionery store in Asahikawa with over 100 years of history. Their éclair made with only the Jersey milk from Chiyoda Farm in Biei is exquisite. It is truly delicious! Not too heavy, with a natural sweetness that is refreshing. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

One weekend, on my way back home, I stopped by a cake-focused confectionery shop called "Marui Imai" located in the basement of a department store. The store is situated towards the middle of the second basement floor, with only two showcases displaying cakes and traditional Japanese sweets. On this day, I was not particularly fixated on any item on the menu, so I decided to purchase the "Strawberry Eclair (324 yen)" that caught my eye. It had a pink berry on top of strawberry cream, generously coated with chocolate, and filled with a gentle custard cream. I also got a "Cream Puff (100 yen)" as a complimentary item, which turned out to be surprisingly delicious with its soft choux pastry and mild custard cream. Lastly, I bought the "Asahikawa Butter Dorayaki (195 yen)" out of a vague memory of possibly purchasing it at a shop in Higashi-Sapporo. The dorayaki, made with Asahikawa black beans, had a good balance of buttery flavor and was a delightful treat. I look forward to visiting again someday. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat cream puffs, so I decided to buy some from Umeya after a long time! I was looking for a chewy cream puff, so I chose the rice flour cream puff that caught my attention. I purchased it with the expectation of a mochi-like texture. It was labeled as a new product, but some people have been buying it since 2017, so I wonder if it's a regular item now? Has the recipe changed? The official website describes it as having a crispy crust, but the actual texture was more like a soft type, similar to convenience store cream puffs. Since it was labeled as rice flour, I anticipated this texture, but the dough was slightly chewy indeed! The cream inside was a smooth and milky custard, which reminded me of Italian Milanese cream puffs. For those who love Milanese cream puffs, this type might be appealing. I personally love Italian Milanese cream puffs, so this was a hit for me! They come in a pack of five over there, so I always hesitate to buy them... I also bought some cut ends of the Japanese sugar loaf roll, which seemed to be on sale in bulk. It was a good deal with plenty of pieces for 324 yen. The fluffy and moist dough paired perfectly with the smooth and milky custard, with a subtle sweetness. The combination was excellent. Umeya always gives me the impression of polite and attentive staff in any of their stores.

Marui Imai Sapporo store, located on the 2nd basement floor of Odori, has a shop called Ume-ya. It is easy to find as it is right in front of the escalator going down. It is early February. I was told by a doctor that my immune system was low, so I have been focusing on takeout food activities. Even though I am not on Tabelog, I am still eating... well, maybe I am just a glutton (laughs). I realized that even takeout food was not good when I got the flu in mid-February. Greed for food is a scary thing ((´∀`*))ahaha. Lately, I have been cautious about the coronavirus and avoiding unnecessary stops on my way out, so I will release the accumulated reviews. ...I am just cutting back, not completely stopping... Please forgive me for occasionally getting takeout. I was shopping on the food floor on the basement 1st floor and heading down the escalator to catch the subway. I was caught easily by the showcase in front with delicious-looking cream puffs and éclairs. This is a trap, isn't it... (laughs) I ended up buying a custard cream puff. The girl at the shop was a cute and smiling lady. I was targeted by her question, "Is it okay if I add coffee cream?" (laughs). I also had the coffee cream puff added. I returned home and had it. Cream puff - 120 yen. When you come to Ume-ya, you have to eat this, right? (*´▽`*) The crispy choux pastry filled with smooth and mildly sweet custard cream. The cream puffs here are delicious as always♪ I feel happy to get this quality for 120 yen (*´▽`*)♪ And the size is not particularly small. Coffee cream puff - 160 yen. This was my first time buying this. The crispy choux pastry is coated with coffee chocolate on the top. Inside, there is a creamy coffee filling that is slightly bitter. This is delicious (≧▽≦) Good! It suits my taste♪ Thank you, lady!! (laughs) The coffee aroma is strong, slightly bitter, and feels like an adult cream puff (*´ω`*) Um um♪ However, be careful as the chocolate coating is very easy to come off. Thank you for the meal (*´▽`*) I want to go buy the coffee cream puff right now (laughs). It was incredibly delicious~♪

I used to love buying cream puffs from Ume-ya every day. I remember that over 30 years ago, they were only available at Esta, and it was about 20 years ago when they started selling them at Marui Imai. I absolutely loved their coffee cream puff called "Cafe Chou." It was quite sweet and the puff was generously filled, giving it a satisfying taste. When I bought it after a few years, I was sad to find out that they no longer had Cafe Chou. It seems like it has been replaced by a new version called Coffee Chou. While it is an evolved version of Cafe Chou, the taste is slightly different from what I remember. The eclair still tastes the same as before. The prices used to be more reasonable, but now they seem average. I used to wonder why Ume-ya's cream puffs don't come to the Hokkaido Fair in Tokyo, but the Coffee Chou in the Reiwa era is not the Cafe Chou that I loved. When I visit Sapporo again, I will buy the eclair from Marui.

I visited the Marui Imai near Daimon. My wife's favorite German frying pan was on sale, so I was dragged along as the driver for shopping. That frying pan was surprisingly expensive! I was a little shocked. As a reward for carrying the bags, I begged for cream puffs. I had to buy four for the whole family. When we got home, I tried one and the creamy filling flowed out. It was delicious! The creaminess was irresistible. Definitely, Uneya's cream puffs are the best! I don't have much data left, so I'll end it here. Thank you for the meal!

Due to a virus causing my computer to malfunction, the migration process to a new desktop computer has been completed. I am still getting used to Windows 10 as it is my first time using it, and also due to health reasons. I have resumed liking and commenting, so thank you in advance. [April 2019] This is my third review, and this time I will be talking about "Kashido Ume-ya," which has its main store in Asahikawa. Established in 1914, this year marks its 105th anniversary as a long-standing store. The ownership rights have been transferred from the founding family to "Fujiroku Shokuhin" and then to "Hokkaido Mura" in the past. Following the bankruptcy of "Hokkaido Mura," the ownership rights were acquired by the Sapporo-based Sankyogroup, which operates the pachinko and pachislot parlors Big Bang and Big Slot, in June 2012. Ume-ya is particularly famous for its cream puffs. It is their main product. Initially, the store was named "Teatro Nord" when it opened at Marui Imai Sapporo store. It is now known by its original name, "Kashido Ume-ya." During my visit to the store, they had a limited-time offer of "15 pieces limited Cream Puffs with plenty of cream." Being weak against limited items, I naturally purchased it (laughs). In addition, I also bought the "Strawberry Shortcake." - 15 pieces limited Cream Puffs with plenty of cream (limited-time product) Base: Jumbo choux pastry filled with plenty of custard cream Price: 345 yen (tax included) - Strawberry Shortcake Base: Fluffy sponge cake A classic shortcake Price: 454 yen (tax included) Ume-ya is known for its delicious cream. The "15 pieces limited Cream Puffs with plenty of cream" showcases Ume-ya's strength. It is filled generously, providing a satisfying bite. However, the quality was slightly below their usual standard. The "Strawberry Shortcake" maintained its traditional quality. I wonder which cream puff I should try next time. It was delicious, thank you.

Marui Imai Sapporo underground food street "Ume-ya" is where I was looking for cakes. When it comes to "Ume-ya", their specialty is definitely the cream puffs. They have a wide variety of eclairs and cream puffs compared to other stores. I bought the "Eclair" for 227 yen and the "Chocolate Cream Eclair" for 281 yen, took them home and ate them after dinner. The eclair with whipped cream on top looks nice, but it's a bit hard to eat. It might be better if the custard is inside. The "Chocolate Cream Eclair" had custard inside instead of chocolate cream, but it was well-balanced and not too sweet, showing the quality of Ume-ya. Both were a bit lacking in terms of cost-performance. Thank you for the meal.

The regular eclair has a custard filling that is soft and slightly sweet, while the pistachio eclair has a creamy filling that is rich and bold in flavor.

I happened to stop by a money exchange shop, but it seems to be closed now. Luckily, I found a cake shop in Marui department store. I wanted to try their cream puffs, but ended up buying a lemon tart and Mont Blanc instead. If you don't buy occasionally, you'll feel guilty. The cakes have a classic feel like Fujiya style, which may not appeal to everyone, but they are delicious. If you like old-fashioned cakes, I recommend it. Thank you for the meal.

▼Location▼ Located on B2F of the Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store's Odori Building, at the intersection of South 1 and West 2. ▼About the Shop▼ Ume-ya HP Ume-ya is a confectionery chain originating from Asahikawa, known for their cream puffs. After being sold in 2009 and going through a subsidiary of Hokkaido Muramura (which later went bankrupt), the company was sold to the Sankei Group, which owns pachinko parlors like Big Bang. ▼Menu▼ They offer their famous cream puffs, cakes, and other Western-style sweets. ▼What I Ate▼ ▽Cream Puff 124 yen▽ Limited edition with the character "当" on the package for good luck. Inside, it's the same as their regular cream puff. The simple and easy-to-eat choux pastry with a mild and milky cream filling makes for a delicious cream puff. ▽100th Anniversary Cream Puff 194 yen▽ Created to commemorate their 100th anniversary, this new cream puff has a slightly chewy choux pastry filled with a rich and mild cream made with egg yolks, whipped cream, and vanilla beans. It's quite delicious. ▼Impressions▼ Ume-ya is a popular chain known for their cream puffs, originating from a well-established confectionery maker in Asahikawa. Despite changes in ownership, the chain remains popular. They have expanded to Sapporo in addition to Asahikawa, with stores opening and closing over the years. This branch at Marui Imai's Odori Building offers cream puffs and Western-style sweets. After browsing at Marui Imai, I felt like having a cream puff, so I decided to buy some. The 100th Anniversary Cream Puff, being a new product, had a slightly higher price but the quality of the cream was noticeably better and quite delicious. Ume-ya went through a tough period but seems to have finally stabilized in recent years, which is great to see. I hope they continue to do well.

【Second Post】I often visit Marui, but it had been a while since I visited Umeya. This time, they had a limited edition item exclusive to Marui Imai Honten. I couldn't resist and bought it. I also tried their "Purin a la Mode." - Purin a la Mode: A clear plastic container shaped for Purin a la Mode. It contained purin, strawberry, blueberry, yellow peach, pear, fresh cream, chocolate stick, chocolate sauce, and sponge cake at the bottom. The fresh cream was not greasy and had a refreshing taste. It was an enjoyable Purin a la Mode priced at 378 yen (including 8% tax). - Chocolate Cream Eclair (Marui Imai Sapporo Honten Limited Edition): A chocolate eclair filled with custard and chocolate cream, topped with a generous amount of chocolate cream and chocolate sauce. It was quite large, requiring a big bite. Priced at 260 yen (including 8% tax), the cream was delicious and showcased Umeya's strength. It was a satisfying and indulgent eclair. Umeya is known for its cream, and both the Purin a la Mode and Chocolate Cream Eclair highlighted this. The Purin a la Mode had a unique appearance and was enjoyable. 【First Post】I recently visited Umeya, formerly known as Teatro Nord, and tried their Shu Cream and Strawberry Fruit Tart. The staff informed me that they had reverted to their original name, Umeya, and the old name, Teatro Nord, had closed down. Umeya is located in the basement of Marui Imai Sapporo Honten along Odori Park in Sapporo. Umeya is a long-established confectionery store with its main branch in Asahikawa, founded in 1914. Over the years, ownership has changed hands, with the current owner being the Sankyo Group, which operates pachinko and pachislot parlors in Sapporo. Umeya is famous for its Shu Cream, which I bought along with a few other items. - Strawberry Fruit Tart: A tart with almond sponge, sweet custard, and various sizes of sliced strawberries. The custard had a milky taste, priced at 381 yen. - Shu Cream: Similar to the classic Shu Cream from Umeya, slightly smaller and cheaper. Filled with plenty of custard cream and soft choux pastry. Priced at 105 yen. - Custard Pie: Crispy pie filled with custard, which was slightly oily but paired well with the crispy pastry. Priced at 151 yen. Umeya offers reasonably priced products, and I noticed they have been introducing new items more actively. They seem to have a good mix of traditional and new products, with a focus on Western-style confections. I look forward to trying their new products in September. Delicious as always.

Marui Imai is located in the basement floor B2F. The main store is in Asahikawa, and in Sapporo, they have three other stores including this Marui. Their cream puffs are famous, but their other Western sweets are also quite impressive. Among them, the éclair (226 yen) is recommended for its taste and cost performance. The éclair has a refreshing cream filling in the center, topped with a generous amount of custard cream. The chocolate coating on the choux pastry has a light texture and adds to the overall flavor. It's a dessert that even older customers can enjoy without feeling too heavy. If you're looking for cheap and delicious éclairs, this is the place to go. I look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you for the meal! ♫

I always wondered why the products are from Umeya but the Marui store is called Theatro Nold. But before I knew it, it had changed to Umeya's name. I quite like Umeya's wasanbon roll. I forgot to take a picture, but I received it last month too. The sponge cake is really delicious~ (о´∀`о) Umeya has a wide variety of cream puffs. Have they increased recently? The bite-sized pink cream puffs with a hint of alcohol are delicious. I want to try various cream puffs like the 100-year cream puff. Today, I had an eclair!! Umeya's eclair is packed with whipped cream. I've been having the urge to eat a lot of whipped cream recently, so I went for it. There was also a chocolate cream version only available at the Marui store, but I went for the normal one. Under the whipped cream is custard cream. It's so light that I feel like I could eat as many as I want. I haven't had much experience with gateau cakes, so I want to try them someday. I'm curious about the various Mont Blanc versions they have. Thank you for the meal. (*^▽^*)
