【Second Post】I often visit Marui, but it had been a while since I visited Umeya. This time, they had a limited edition item exclusive to Marui Imai Honten. I couldn't resist and bought it. I also tried their "Purin a la Mode."
- Purin a la Mode: A clear plastic container shaped for Purin a la Mode. It contained purin, strawberry, blueberry, yellow peach, pear, fresh cream, chocolate stick, chocolate sauce, and sponge cake at the bottom. The fresh cream was not greasy and had a refreshing taste. It was an enjoyable Purin a la Mode priced at 378 yen (including 8% tax).
- Chocolate Cream Eclair (Marui Imai Sapporo Honten Limited Edition): A chocolate eclair filled with custard and chocolate cream, topped with a generous amount of chocolate cream and chocolate sauce. It was quite large, requiring a big bite. Priced at 260 yen (including 8% tax), the cream was delicious and showcased Umeya's strength. It was a satisfying and indulgent eclair.
Umeya is known for its cream, and both the Purin a la Mode and Chocolate Cream Eclair highlighted this. The Purin a la Mode had a unique appearance and was enjoyable.
【First Post】I recently visited Umeya, formerly known as Teatro Nord, and tried their Shu Cream and Strawberry Fruit Tart. The staff informed me that they had reverted to their original name, Umeya, and the old name, Teatro Nord, had closed down. Umeya is located in the basement of Marui Imai Sapporo Honten along Odori Park in Sapporo.
Umeya is a long-established confectionery store with its main branch in Asahikawa, founded in 1914. Over the years, ownership has changed hands, with the current owner being the Sankyo Group, which operates pachinko and pachislot parlors in Sapporo. Umeya is famous for its Shu Cream, which I bought along with a few other items.
- Strawberry Fruit Tart: A tart with almond sponge, sweet custard, and various sizes of sliced strawberries. The custard had a milky taste, priced at 381 yen.
- Shu Cream: Similar to the classic Shu Cream from Umeya, slightly smaller and cheaper. Filled with plenty of custard cream and soft choux pastry. Priced at 105 yen.
- Custard Pie: Crispy pie filled with custard, which was slightly oily but paired well with the crispy pastry. Priced at 151 yen.
Umeya offers reasonably priced products, and I noticed they have been introducing new items more actively. They seem to have a good mix of traditional and new products, with a focus on Western-style confections. I look forward to trying their new products in September. Delicious as always.
