I went shopping in the morning and then visited my mother in the hospital before noon. After spending some time there, I left the hospital around 2 pm. It was definitely a good decision to have a hearty breakfast! Now, I am heading to a ramen restaurant that I have never been to before. Marugen Ramen, which landed in Hokkaido from Aichi at the end of last year. It took me a while to visit, but I finally made my first visit. The restaurant used to be something else, I wonder what it was. It has over 100 seats, and even when I entered, I couldn't tell where the counter seats were. I was guided to my seat by one of the nearly 10 staff members. I had already studied the menu and decided on my order, so I was able to smoothly place my order using the touch panel. For my first visit, I ordered the Ajitama Niku Soba with fried rice set. First, the teppan fried rice arrived. The staff lady brought the teppan with fried rice and beaten egg to the center and started swirling it around as soon as she brought it, which I took a picture of before mixing. The fried rice was delicious, as always. Just a couple of minutes later, the ramen was served. There are various ways to customize the taste, and there is yuzu pepper and grated radish in the middle that you can mix in while eating, but I tried it as it is first. The slightly sweet soup was really tasty! I definitely want to try other menu items soon. The straight noodles were smooth and reminiscent of the noodles in Kagoshima ramen I had over a decade ago. The tender meat and the well-balanced flavor were really good. There was more than enough quantity than it appeared. The flavored egg was slightly firm, which I think is more suitable for ramen than being too runny. Mixing in the yuzu pepper and grated radish added a bit of spiciness and made it even more delicious. Sweet and savory! I then added chili oil and fried garlic to change the flavor, but I think it's better with just the yuzu pepper or the other toppings. I finished everything including the fried rice and it was a delicious meal. It was self-service payment, but it was nice to be able to use code payment as well. By the way, there were about 5 empty seats next to me, but while I was eating, the staff started disinfecting the menu at the next table. I understand the importance of cleanliness, and the place was indeed clean, but honestly, it was a bit hectic to have it done in the empty seat next to me, so I wish they had skipped a seat for disinfection.
