On Sundays and holidays, "Stand Bell" opens at 10 AM. It is located about a 5-minute walk from Kita 18-jo Subway Station, in a slightly recessed building on Kita-dori. There are a couple of parking spaces in front of the store, and you can see the rotating lantern of "KEI COFFEE" outside. Upon entering, you are greeted by a woman in her 60s to 70s who is handling everything alone. The first customer is a middle-aged man from the neighborhood, engaging in small talk. I sat at a table towards the back and ordered the "Toast Set @450" (limited to 10-11 AM). The set includes toast, salad, fried egg, and coffee. The coffee, which seems to have been brewed in advance, is a bit weak. The buttered toast is crispy and moist, the fried egg is perfectly runny, and the salad is dressed with Italian dressing. The overall set is decent, similar to "Komeda," but I wish the coffee was a bit tastier. Before leaving, another regular customer, a middle-aged man, arrives, and they continue their conversation from the other day. It seems like a great social spot where people gather and have a good time. I wonder if the atmosphere is the same at night. Thank you for the meal.

While walking and feeling like I need a break, I spotted a sign for Key Coffee. As I got closer, I discovered this hidden gem! Inside, I saw a regular customer sitting at the counter watching TV. I entered. It's a traditional old-fashioned coffee shop. The row of 10 red velvet chairs at the counter and the four tables with sofas behind them have a standard classical feel that is quite stylish! It may not have the trendy atmosphere of today, but it's a pretty chic café. The BGM is Stan Getz's "Love Is Here To Stay" and the chairs and tables are well-made and clean. They kindly offered me some snacks. Yay! The chocolate with nuts has a faint acidity and richness that goes perfectly with the delicious coffee. The Bourbon snack is also nostalgic. I couldn't stop munching on it. The lunch menu changes daily and comes with a drink. Plus, for an additional 200 yen, you can add coffee to the set meal menu. From 6 pm, there is a bar time where you can get a 500 yen appetizer, and it seems like you can also bring your own drinks. The place is well-organized, friendly, and convenient, so I'll have dinner here next time. There are a few trendy restaurants for students around here, but it's nice to have a place like this too. Thank you for the meal! Note: Smoking is allowed.

Open all year round (closed on Tuesdays?), with the 48-year veteran master Mr. Koizumi and the harmonious interactions with customers. Surprisingly, there are more female customers. For those who drink alcohol, there is a 400 yen charge for a seasonal appetizer. My recommendation is the curry fried rice. The omurice and yakisoba ordered by other customers also look tempting. A cheap, delicious, and fun place where people of all ages and genders gather. Let's definitely stock whiskey bottles (800 yen corkage fee with bottle keep option, no corkage fee for food). Enjoy a leisurely and wonderful time with jazz music. (Note: this may not apply on weekends, so be careful with that. lol) I hope this place continues to thrive forever.

I often go there. I go about 4-5 times a month. Since becoming a working adult, I have visited the old 2nd floor store a few times. The store was rebuilt due to road widening, now located on the ground floor of an apartment building. The landlord is Mr. Koizumi. In the evening, he comes in a yukata to drink hot milk. Sometimes, I casually drop by after 5 pm to see the master preparing for the night business and the mama leaving after the daytime service. I try to avoid getting caught up in Mr. Koizumi's old stories and enjoy a beer slowly. I get my alcohol from the nearby "My Basket" store. I will definitely go back.

Welcome! This is a coffee shop tucked away in a building a little off the main road along North 18th Street in the North District. The bright lighting caught my attention while walking at night, so I decided to visit during the day. The interior is a typical coffee shop with a counter and high chairs. The place was bustling with elderly gentlemen, with all 5 tables occupied except for one. The staff were efficient and charming, despite the pile of dishes waiting to be washed. I decided to have some tea and noticed the extensive variety of items on the menu, which seemed to cater more to a cafe-bar vibe at night. The triangular glass of tea I ordered was delicious, with a slight bitterness that complemented the ice well. Enjoying my drink surrounded by older patrons, I felt a sense of calm and warmth in this coffee shop. The friendly staff added to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a place worth visiting. That's all for now, thank you!
