I made a reservation for one night with breakfast included. The location is about halfway between Hakodate Airport and Hakodate Station. It's a bit of a walk from the nearest tram station, about 10 minutes, but there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The room facilities were great, and although I couldn't take photos, the large public bath was amazing. It's probably better to go during the daytime. The breakfast buffet had all-you-can-drink red and white wine and sparkling wine! They had seafood, Italian dishes, and even chapati and hamburgers for some reason. I also tried a muffin sandwich, which was surprisingly well-made and didn't feel like typical buffet food. The ratatouille was delicious too. There were plenty of desserts, but what surprised me the most was the cheese corner. I wonder how much wine they expect people to drink in the morning (laughs). There were so many different options that I couldn't take photos, but it made me want to visit again even without breakfast. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go back.

In Hakodate, there are many hotels with amazing breakfasts, so much so that it's called the breakfast war. Among them is the new face of Hakodate, the Sea and Lights Hewitt Resort. Despite the high prices due to national travel support and post-COVID, I miraculously managed to stay with breakfast included for around 8,000 yen. The view from the open-air bath overlooking the sea was relaxing. I had heard that the breakfast was amazing, so I made sure to research beforehand. When checking in, I was asked about my preferred breakfast time, so I chose 8 o'clock to avoid the crowds. The second-floor restaurant was busy but I had no trouble finding a seat. I headed straight for the food once seated. The rumored 140 types of breakfast dishes were indeed there. The DIY hamburgers looked fun to make. There were too many varieties of seafood, including unusual items like conger eel and crab miso. There was an overwhelming amount of ikura, salmon, tuna, and more. The display of donuts was like an art installation, and there were plenty of puddings. The variety of bread made it hard to choose. I wondered if the wine was free-flowing too. I struggled to decide on cheese and wine pairings. With so many options, I limited myself to certain dishes. My favorite was the Genghis Khan (grilled lamb). It was tender and not too heavily seasoned. I couldn't try all the seafood, so I focused on squid, tuna, and salmon. The only disappointment was the hamburger patty, which didn't stand out on its own. Due to my stomach's capacity, I had to skip the hamburger but tried just the patty. There might have been more options than at the Century Marina. Next time, I'll enjoy wine with cheese, Genghis Khan, and more. The breakfast was truly amazing, beyond my expectations.

In Hakodate, there are three famous hotels known as the "Big Three": Century Marina, La Vista, and International. The breakfast at these hotels is excellent, sparking a breakfast battle among fans. Personally, I prefer Century. All of these hotels are located in the Bay Area, but I decided to try the new hotel in Yunokawa Onsen, known for its amazing breakfast. I had time, so I also tried the dinner buffet. The last entry to the restaurant is at 6:30 PM, so I rushed in at 6 PM and quickly enjoyed a bath with a view of the sea. The dinner buffet had a drink menu where you could get unlimited drinks for 2500 yen, including champagne. The food was delicious, with unique dishes like giant prawns and crab legs. The buffet had a variety of options, including buttered scallops, roast beef, and a wide selection of cheeses. I indulged in scallops, tuna, and ikura, enjoying the atmosphere and the food. I had a total of three beers and then switched to red and white wine. The roast beef was particularly delicious. It was a great experience, and I didn't have to worry about catching a train home. After dinner, I took another relaxing bath. The breakfast the next morning was similar to the dinner buffet, with a wide selection of dishes, including different types of cheese and desserts. The breakfast at this new hotel was even better than the International Hotel. I had a bad experience with the long wait for breakfast at the International Hotel last time, so I think I will choose this new hotel again in the future.

I have too many things I want to eat both at night and in the morning, and even as a big eater, I wish my stomach was even bigger! Anyway, at night, I indulged in sashimi and crab as the main dishes. There were other things I wanted to eat, but I had to give up on them for now. For breakfast, there were donuts, bread, and various other options that I wanted to try a little of each, but even then, there were so many choices that my stomach was full. I recommend this place for young people and those with big appetites!

On the fifth day of a long vacation, I visited the breakfast buffet a little after 8 a.m. There were slightly fewer people compared to the night before. The buffet had some seafood options, but it was mainly focused on breakfast items. You can enjoy red, white, and sparkling wine in the morning, and I recommend trying the sparkling wine.

On the fourth night of my long vacation in Hakodate, I stayed at a bustling inn with many people. The buffet dinner included a variety of luxurious seafood such as salmon roe, crab, crab miso, scallops, and abalone, which are not commonly found in all-you-can-eat buffets. The other menu items were also satisfying and I left feeling very pleased.

I stayed at Umi to Akari, about a 15-minute walk from Yunokawa Station on the tram line, and had breakfast there. It was a buffet with a wide variety of options, especially seafood with over 10 different types available. The ikura (salmon roe) was served in large bowls for self-service, and you could pile your plate high with whatever you liked. It was a great experience.

The dinner and breakfast buffets included in the Hokkaido tour were fantastic, with a wide variety of dishes and especially delicious seafood. Everything was fresh and satisfying, leaving us full and happy. The breakfast buffet, priced at 2,000 yen, was particularly well-received. The rooms had been renovated last year and were very clean and comfortable.

The seafood variety is abundant. You can enjoy seafood bowls to your heart's content both in the evening and in the morning. Dinner - the roast beef was delicious, but the snow crab was too salty. Breakfast - you can make your own hamburgers, but the buns were hard. The donuts and bread were also hard. The toaster couldn't be used due to the pressure of the queue. Compared to popular hotels in Hakodate, it feels like they are skimping on the volume of sashimi, leaving you wanting more. Price-wise, it's okay. The room was clean and very satisfying.

From July 26th to 28th, 2022, dinner was served buffet-style for three consecutive nights, and breakfast was the same. Although not shown in the images, sashimi was also available. However, after having it for dinner, I couldn't bring myself to eat it in the morning. Breakfast consisted mainly of bread, which helped prevent getting tired of the food. The highlight was the DIY hamburgers and paninis, with hamburger patties, fried hokke, and bacon as the main ingredients. Accompanied by fried eggs, prosciutto, cheese, various vegetables, and a variety of sauces including barbecue, salsa, and tartar. Desserts included pudding, donuts, fruits, yogurt, and cereal. Personally, the best part was the complimentary sparkling wine, red and white wine served from barrels in the morning. The deliciousness of "bubbles" in the morning made me feel like I was experiencing something extraordinary. When staying at this hotel for multiple nights, it might be best to alternate between Japanese and Western breakfasts to fully enjoy the variety. Despite some circumstances, I was able to enjoy it to some extent, all thanks to the bubbles that disappeared.

From July 25th to 27th, 2022, I went on a trip to Hakodate with my two daughters, staying with my mother and aunt who live in Hakodate. There were four of us in total. My aunt, who is elderly and has trouble with her legs, needed to have breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The hotel served buffet-style meals with almost no menu changes, which made it challenging by the third day. However, the food itself was good, with sashimi, sushi, pork, and beef cut steaks being the main highlights. Scallops, hokke fish, and grilled mackerel were also popular choices. In addition to salads, there were side dishes like fried chicken, various cheeses, and desserts such as mini cakes and soft-serve ice cream. Side menu options for a quick break included seafood curry and salt ramen. Soft drinks were unlimited, but alcoholic beverages were a bit pricey. Overall, the quality and quantity of the food were competitive compared to other hotels. Despite still feeling a bit of heartburn when remembering the three consecutive buffet meals, it was a memorable and unique experience.

Unrestricted Golden Week. Stayed one night at Jozankei (couple) → 5 nights in Kyoto (solo travel) → 1 night in Hakodate (family of 6 with children). The stylish and luxurious resort inn room has an ocean view and an open-air infinity bath which gives a sense of freedom. It has a similar atmosphere to the Toya Lake Palace. It is not specifically for adult couples, but rather suitable for younger couples, female travelers of any age, and families. There are no facilities for small children to play, so it is more geared towards parents who want to enjoy themselves. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style with a wide variety of seafood and cheese. Alcohol is free-flowing during breakfast. The impression is that there is a lot of overlap in the ingredients for both meals, but with a wide variety, some may find it satisfying. The facilities are new and clean, with plenty of outlets in the room, making it a comfortable space. The elevator has a card touch security system. Overall, it feels like a combination of the best features from various accommodations, but the new hot spring inn was refreshing.

The buffet was delicious with a wide variety of seafood, especially the sashimi selection was impressive! You could even make your own seafood bowl and there were also sushi and chirashi available. I enjoyed luxurious dishes like butter-grilled scallops and snow crab. Even at breakfast, there was sashimi available and my husband would have a seafood bowl in the morning. Of course, there were also standard breakfast dishes, so even someone with a small appetite like me was very satisfied with breakfast.

It was a regular day, but the restaurant was quite crowded. We had reserved the 12,000 yen kaiseki course, but it seemed like everyone else was having a buffet. We were seated at a table and the food started arriving, but to our surprise, there was no chef present. The person sitting at the entrance was the one bringing the dishes to us, and although they explained each dish, it was not the same as having a chef prepare it in front of us. The atmosphere was completely different from what we expected at a traditional Japanese restaurant, and we were disappointed. In the end, we were served 13 pieces of sushi, but we couldn't even see it being made, leaving us feeling unsatisfied. Kaiseki is supposed to embody the spirit of hospitality, but this experience fell short of our expectations.

I stayed at a new hotel in Yunokawa with a two-meal plan at a discounted rate for Hokkaido residents. The buffet for dinner and breakfast was in the same venue, and while there wasn't much difference, there was a wide variety of seafood so I didn't get tired of it. The flow of the venue was not great, and there were some corners that were hard to reach. The hot spring had a nice view and was enjoyable.

I stayed with my mother using the Hakodate discount. We had dinner and breakfast at Gyuho, a buffet restaurant. It was said to be the largest buffet in Hokkaido, and I was really surprised by the variety of dishes! I made a seafood bowl with my favorite sashimi, and it was delicious. There were also hand-rolled sushi and meat cooked in a stone oven with far-infrared rays, which were also tasty. Since it was after New Year's, there were traditional New Year dishes like namasu and black beans, which were incredibly delicious. There was no compromise in taste, and I was impressed that even non-main dishes were delicious. It probably ranks high among Hakodate hotels! Breakfast also had a lot of delicious dishes that my stomach couldn't handle. One night was not enough. Check out the details here ☟ Umi to Akari Hewitt Resort has Hokkaido's largest buffet! On this day, my friend and I made a reservation at the same hotel with the plan of "taking a bath, eating delicious food, and drinking." However, we stumbled right at dinner time... We had to wait 30 minutes just to get a meal? Are you serious? I told the front desk to let me know when it's available! After waiting for an hour... we finally got to eat, but it was just a meager buffet. Was it worth waiting for an hour? The sushi counter had no employees there the whole time, it was quite laughable. The bath was very nice! We were able to enjoy local sake as well. The next morning, we had to wait for breakfast again... It's getting ridiculous. They need to come up with ways to stagger meal times to avoid keeping customers waiting! Honestly, I won't be using this place again next time.

This is a new hotel that opened in May this year. The combination of welcome detox water and local dango is excellent. The mitarashi dango is exquisite and incredibly soft. You shouldn't miss it! The dinner buffet offers 150 varieties, with a great selection of seafood like sashimi. The crab miso, fresh sea urchin, scallops, and salmon roe are plentiful and delicious. There are about 8 types of sushi that are freshly made in front of you. You can also make your own seafood bowl, so you can enjoy a luxurious ikura bowl. The crab meat is a bit lacking, which is a bit disappointing. There are fewer options for grilled dishes and meat. They also offer Hakodate salt ramen and premium curry for those who are not fond of fish. The dessert ice cream made with Hokkaido milk and mixed berries is smooth and extremely delicious. The staff still seem inexperienced and awkward, lacking in hospitality. It feels like they are following a manual. There is no sense of hospitality and their unique features are not evident. A change in their style could improve the experience. Looking forward to seeing improvements in the future!

I had a great time at the new hotel, Hakodate Hewitt Resort Umi to Akari with my mother. I was impressed by the comfort of the infinity hot spring and the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms. For dinner and breakfast, we had the same buffet at the restaurant "Gesshun," which is the largest in Hokkaido. For dinner, we enjoyed scallops grilled in their shells, roast beef, beef, crab, fish, sushi, ikura (salmon roe), cheese, hamburgers, various side dishes, sweets, and fruits. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. For breakfast, there were pizzas, sausages, bacon, paella, bouillabaisse, and a variety of bread. I ate a lot in the morning too! I highly recommend staying at this hotel just for the buffet. The service was top-notch and attentive. Families were also present, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. With plenty of seating, we were able to relax and enjoy our meals comfortably.

"Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen Umi to Hikari" This time, I stayed at this inn during my trip to Hakodate. This is a new hotel that just opened in July this year. It is located in the Yunokawa area. Since it has only been open for about a month, it is very clean and nice! After enjoying sightseeing spots and Hakodate gourmet upon arrival in Hakodate, I arrived at the hotel at 3:00 pm. There was a service of dango (Japanese dumplings) and amazake (sweet sake) from the long-established "Yakidango Gingetsu," which has been loved for over 40 years in Yunokawa Onsen, which was quite delightful. The room I reserved was a junior suite on a high floor. It also had a semi-open-air bath, spacious and relaxing space. Since it was just built, it was clean and had a sense of cleanliness. Immediately, I went to the bath on the top floor, and the open-air infinity bath synchronized with the sea, providing the best view. The bathtub is wide sideways, and there is a lying bath in the back, so you can relax and enjoy your time. The sea breeze is also pleasant, making it very soothing. It's a bit disappointing that there is no sauna, but after leisurely soaking in the bath, let's head to the eagerly awaited dinner. Meals are buffet style for both breakfast and dinner. There are about 150 items, including the usual dishes and fisherman's cuisine, so you can enjoy a variety of options. The standout was the kattedon (bowl of sashimi over rice) corner, which felt quite luxurious! Kanpachi, hirame, karei, negitoro, salmon, squid, snow crab, botan shrimp, flying fish roe, tarako, tsubu, kazunoko, tamagoyaki, and in addition to these, there was real sea urchin! The quality may not be that high, but real sea urchin! I've been to various hotel buffets before, but it was my first time seeing real sea urchin, quite surprising! The breakfast buffet was also rich in variety, and as usual, I ended up eating too much this time too. As for the service level... Since it's still a new hotel, there were a few instances of shortcomings here and there. From the car guidance upon arrival at the hotel to the guidance during dinner and the way alcohol was served, it felt amateurish. Since it's not a luxury hotel, there were some guests who were not very considerate, and the shared spaces were uncomfortable, which was a bit disappointing. Since it's still a new hotel, there is room for improvement in various aspects in the future. I stayed for one night and thank you for taking care of me.
