I always hesitate whether to buy this kind of product or not, but I ended up buying the Tsukemen (dipping noodles) from the famous Matsudo restaurant under the supervision of Mr. Tomita. This time, it's the cold version. It seems like Seven and Mr. Tomita have a good relationship, as they have collaborated on cup noodles and frozen foods in the past. The price was a bit high (640 yen excluding tax), so I had high expectations when I bought it. I have never eaten at the actual restaurant, so I always feel a bit uncertain about these faraway famous restaurant series. As expected, it was a bit underwhelming, but since it carries the name of Tomita, I feel satisfied at a level I would not if it were just a regular product. It probably comes close to the taste of the restaurant, with a tonkotsu (pork bone) and seafood soy sauce flavor, thick whole wheat noodles, flavored egg, chashu (sliced pork), green onions, menma (bamboo shoots), and a mysterious eatable chili oil-like condiment included. Each component is above the convenience store level, but I personally did not enjoy the chili oil-like condiment. The dipping soup is rich but not overpowering, and while it's delicious, for someone like me with an unsophisticated palate, it's hard to differentiate subtle differences in tonkotsu and seafood soup, and whether it's really good or not depends on the individual. The noodles are very thick and balanced well with the rich soup, but it's not easy to eat. At this point, it's almost like eating udon noodles. I was drawn to the Tomita brand and bought it, but personally, I found it to be mediocre. I still want to visit the actual restaurant, but it's far away... By the way, if another famous restaurant series comes out, I think I will buy it again.
