【Takeout】Sapporo Citizens' Kitchen: Sapporo Nijo Market, also known as Sapporo Morning Market, is a place where locals and tourists visit equally. Inside the market, there is a shop selling processed seafood products. On December 28, 2022, around 10:30 am, I revisited the market and bought Hokke (mackerel) and Nishin (herring) fillets. The fillets were soft and not overly oily, making them delicious from the flesh to the skin.

New Year's is a time for luxurious dishes and ingredients. It is a festive start to the year. One popular spot for year-end shopping is the "Maruka Wholesale Center." The morning market at Maruka Wholesale Center is where sushi restaurants, fishmongers, and wholesalers gather. Famous sushi restaurants and conveyor belt sushi companies also come here. During the year-end period, there are many general customers as well, resulting in a large crowd. Normally, you can park your car in front of the building, but during the year-end period, general customers have to park a bit further away. "Marumoto Honma Suisan" is a seafood wholesaler that sells fresh fish and seafood products. I visited the store. There is another store called "Honma Suisan" within the Nijo Market, so this store is distinguished by the name "Kanehon Honma Suisan." This store is located in the Maruka Wholesale Center in the Maruyama-Kuwaen area of Sapporo. For the exact location, please check on Tabelog. Since it is inside the morning market, it opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 11 a.m. I reviewed 2013 and 2015 together. During the year-end period, in addition to the usual fresh fish, there are many items suitable for New Year's. They are quite cheap. At Marumoto Honma Suisan, I often buy everyday items even during the year-end period (laughs). Since I mainly buy everyday items, I haven't taken many photos (sweat). It is a store where you can enjoy delicious items at a low price for everyday use. It is a seafood wholesaler that is perfect for everyday use. After all, the prices are wholesale prices. I really enjoyed the fish at Honma Suisan - one piece. The old man was alone, and the temperature dropped significantly in Sapporo. I came here for my grandson's birthday, but this time I will be returning on Monday, which is unusual. Normally, we stay for one night each time, so staying for two nights is the norm, but this time my second daughter talked me into staying for three nights. By the morning of the second day, I was already thinking of going back today... being in an unfamiliar environment is a bit tough for an old person, right? But, on the last day, I went to the morning market with my grandson as usual. However, my eldest daughter came out and said "bye" as she had to go to work. Of course, my eldest daughter's husband also had to work. The morning market is very difficult for those who are directionally challenged. It took us 30 minutes to finally find it. After eating ramen, we went into Maruka Building and picked up a few things before heading back. I had written down the names of a few stores, but I didn't stick to that and just bought from wherever looked cheap and good. After checking out all the stores, I found that Honma Suisan had good herring. I bought one piece and had it wrapped quickly in newspaper. The efficiency of the staff was impressive, but I don't like people who throw food. I also don't like people who handle cooking utensils roughly. When I was learning how to make soba noodles, I didn't like the shop owner who handled the tools roughly, so I wrote a review on Jalan later and was told not to come back. I wouldn't have gone back anyway. It must be a habit. I don't like it when something I bought is treated carelessly. So, I had to cook the herring quickly myself. It was a late day, so the fat content was decent. I wish it had a bit more fat, but the flavor was not lacking and the herring was delicious. I used to not eat herring before, only the dried kind, but now I like it more than saury. They don't serve saury here though.
