It is a temple in Chitose, and next to it is a cemetery. Reservations are required up to 2 days in advance, and you can visit alone on weekdays. They offer a Shojin lunch for 1,000 yen. It is a temple of the Shingon sect, with Koyasan as its head temple, with a history of about 60 years. Besides lunch, they also offer sutra copying, meditation experience, and rental of the temple hall. They also rent out the space for activities like yoga, Pilates, and kids' dance. When I arrived at the temple, I wasn't sure where to enter, but I followed the building where the cars were parked. Inside, I asked some moms with kids for directions, and they kindly guided me. The staff in the kitchen area welcomed me and prepared a spot for me. They served tea with care, and the menu for the day included meat-wrapped tofu steak, broccoli mayo curry, avocado sashimi, enoki and greens simmered in salted rice malt, carrot salad, and a daily side dish. The seasoning was on the strong side, and the food was delicious. The fluffy round side dish was particularly tasty. The small dishes were healthy, and the avocado sashimi with wasabi was delicious. The meal also came with rice and soup. The miso soup was offered as a refill, and after the meal, they served a drink. I chose coffee, but they also offered apple juice, hot tea, and some kind of oyster or persimmon treat. The temple is spacious and welcoming, with Wi-Fi available. It is child-friendly, and the staff interacted warmly with the kids. Dining at a temple brought back memories of being treated to a feast during Obon. The staff thanked me for finishing my meal, and I was impressed by their hospitality. They have been serving lunch in earnest for about a year now. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal.
