On a Sunday afternoon stroll in the city, around Odori Park after 4 p.m., there was a request for "I want to eat yakiniku." After searching, it was found that there were few restaurants nearby open at this time. Utilizing the subway pass on the weekend, I hopped on the Toho Line and headed to "Higashi Ward Office" station. I arrived at "Shichirin Yakiniku Anan Sapporo Higashi Ward Office Branch." The staff, though a bit businesslike, quickly seated us at a slightly cramped four-person table. The table and chairs were fixed, so the distance between the shichirin grill and our faces was close and a bit hot (but it eased up when the fire died down). We ordered using a touch panel system, starting with two beers at 290 yen each. The grilled items that arrived were Yagen Nankotsu (salt) at 290 yen, with a generous serving of chicken and decent service; Buta Toro (salt) at 290 yen, with a slightly tough meat texture but the salt level was just right, and it burned well on the grill; Shio Buta Horumon at 290 yen, thick but tender, a favorite at Anan, best eaten with lemon juice; Anan Kalbi at 290 yen, a bit tough if overcooked, so it's best to lightly sear and eat; Shio Gatsu (salt) at 390 yen, a bit tough; and four highballs at 190 yen each, with a lot of ice. For an additional 150 yen, you can order a stronger highball. The Vegetable Assortment for grilling at 490 yen allowed us to choose six types of vegetables, and we chose shishito, onion, and shiitake, which were affected by the soy sauce provided. While there were a few personal gripes, such as wanting table salt and garlic, preferring chopsticks over disposable ones, and wishing all stores opened at 4 p.m. on weekends, overall, I found the restaurant to be user-friendly with affordable prices. There were no seating or cover charges, and the alcohol was cheap, with small portions of grilled items, making it suitable for solo dining and casual drinking. The total bill for the day was around 3,600 yen (GoTo coupons cannot be used). I will visit again at one of their locations. Thank you for the meal.
