Around Takasago Station in Ebetsu City... a 3-minute walk from the station in a residential area is "Cafe Tocchan Shokudo." During the day, it's a cafe with a focus on curry? No idol time, but drinking is allowed? They also have a variety of izakaya menu items... The evening set includes 2 drinks and 2 appetizers for 1,000 yen (tax included)... I wonder what kind of appetizers they serve... Curious, curious... As for the name of the restaurant... Is it a cafe? A diner? But they also have a wide range of izakaya menu items... [Opened on February 18, 2020] In the six months since opening, they have added and changed their menu items... I came here thinking it was a curry restaurant, but they have a variety of dishes like pasta and omurice... The interior has a counter with 6 seats and two 4-person tables. The order is the "Chicken Curry for 500 yen," but before ordering, they serve a complimentary potato salad and soup... I wonder if the appetizers in the evening set are... (^^; Potato salad... with a light mayonnaise flavor, it's refreshing and tasty, maybe made in-house? Soup... lightly seasoned with a good balance of salt, the sweetness of the cabbage and the wiener make it delicious. The owner works diligently in the kitchen behind the counter to prepare the curry, which is served in about 8 minutes... Let's eat. The spiciness is around medium spicy like Vermont Curry... The chili powder and habanero powder on the table are helpful. The fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables) used to be served on a plate, but now it comes in a separate container (which is better as some people may not want it). The curry sauce has a decent overall flavor, but personally, I would prefer a bit more spice. The chicken is tender and easy to eat. Also... do you often find that there's not enough curry sauce when eating curry? I feel like they give a relatively generous amount here. I'd like to try having a drink here after work sometime. Thank you for the meal.

This is a place in Takasago-cho, Ebetsu City, near Takasago Station on the JR Hakodate Main Line. A curry rice restaurant has opened in a location where a popular homemade noodle ramen shop used to be in Takasago-cho, Ebetsu. I arrived at the restaurant, parked my car in the front parking lot, and entered the shop. The interior still retains the same atmosphere as before. I sat at a vacant counter seat and looked at the curry menu. I ordered the "Chicken Curry" which is the top menu item and waited for it to be served. It took about 7-8 minutes for the curry to arrive. The chicken was well-cooked in the curry. First, I tried the curry roux, which had a good amount of spices and the chicken was quite tender. The spiciness of the curry roux is somewhere between medium and hot. Next, the rice was about 200g, but it was soft and the grains stuck together, which didn't go well with the curry. The condiments included Fukujin pickles and flakes on top of the rice, which were unnecessary. The main curry roux itself was not bad, but improving the ingredients and rice variety and cooking method would make it even better.

I don't feel like cooking, but you can have whatever you like for lunch. I feel a bit embarrassed because I ate my favorite dish (cabbage tempura rice bowl) yesterday, and this morning my son and I finished the remaining shrimp tempura. But it was takeout. Let's move on. There is a curry restaurant that recently opened near Takasago Station. Initially, they only served curry, but now they also have pasta and the name of the restaurant has the word "cafe" in it. My son had the Pork Curry for 800 yen, my wife had the Chicken Omelette Rice for 800 yen, and I had the Carbonara for 1,200 yen. The curry has a loose sauce, spicy and quite hot, but it may not be satisfying for curry enthusiasts. The rice is on the softer side, a true cafeteria curry. There are plenty of chunks of pork, giving it a satisfying texture. The atmosphere inside is not at all like a cafe. It has a slightly messy feel, but not in a bad way. If you're looking for a stylish cafe, I would recommend a different place. The menu also includes a drink to enjoy after work, giving it that kind of vibe. I would definitely like to try the "Dinner Set" next time. Thank you for the meal! (^o^)
