I had been planning with my wife since the previous day. We decided to go to "Menmaru" on the weekend. I had been to the old store a few times in the past. I used to like the miso ramen there. The new store had opened, and I had been there once, but then I hadn't gone back. So, it had been about 10 years since I last visited. I had associated this restaurant with miso ramen in my mind, from the old store. I have always liked miso soup. I prefer the kind with a miso flavor and a little bit of spiciness, rather than the ones with a lot of oil. I had a craving for that kind of miso soup. When I feel that way, there are a few places that we usually go to, but this time I chose this restaurant to confirm the old taste. We arrived a little earlier than usual for dinner, around 4:30 pm. There were no other customers yet. We were told to sit wherever we liked, so we chose a table. Even though it was a new store, it had a clean and nice atmosphere. I looked at the menu. Miso ramen was priced at 860 yen. My wife chose that. I had decided on the vegetable miso, which was 170 yen extra. It came to 1030 yen. I couldn't find any alcohol on the menu, even though it said, "Alcoholic beverages for customers who come by car are declined." Maybe they serve it later in the evening. They had a variety of set menus. Curry set, chashu bowl set, and more. There were also rice dishes. Sauce chicken cutlet bowl, vegetable stir-fry set, zangi set. Among them, the cheapest were the sauce chicken cutlet bowl and the negi pork bowl at 680 yen. After we entered, there was only one female staff member. A male staff member joined later. The ramen was ready. My vegetable miso came on a plate with a bowl on top. Apparently, there were so many ingredients and soup that it tended to overflow. I took a sip of the soup. Yes, this is it. It had a slightly strong salty taste, but the miso flavor and the sweet aftertaste were good. It was the miso soup that I loved. There were plenty of vegetables, mainly leeks, but also Chinese cabbage, bell peppers, carrots, one slice of lean chashu, shinchiku, and leeks. The vegetables were abundant, and the broth from the vegetables transferred to the soup. So, the taste of my vegetable miso and my wife's miso ramen was slightly different. It was interesting. The Chinese cabbage was hot and delicious. The noodles were Asahikawa noodles, but the surface was smooth and soft. I thought it might be more delicious with a bit more chewiness, but the texture of these noodles was quite interesting. The chashu, although lean, fell apart tenderly along the fibers. It was delicious. There was quite a lot of food, and I had to work hard to finish it. While we were eating, we could hear a pounding sound from the kitchen. When I looked later, they were pounding chicken meat in a large mortar. Ah, it must be for the sauce chicken bowl. It seems to be popular. I thought maybe it was cheap frozen chicken cutlets, but they were actually buying chicken meat, cutting it into pieces, and pounding it. This was the sauce chicken cutlet bowl. It looked delicious. After the meal, we were served warm roasted tea as a complimentary service. It was so nice. Such a family-friendly restaurant, it's great. I would love to visit again. By the way, the table menu doesn't cover all the items, so you need to check the wall menu carefully. It's an important thing at this restaurant. Actually, my wife had a sore back that day. She was walking slowly and with a slight limp, and the staff noticed and asked, "Are you okay?" Such a kind atmosphere in the restaurant, it felt good. I hope this great restaurant continues to thrive. Next time, maybe I'll try the sauce chicken bowl. It looks delicious. Thank you for the meal!
