In mid-November, the third wave of infections began to spread slowly in Sapporo, and a request for "self-restraint from unnecessary outings in cases where infection risks cannot be avoided" was issued ahead of the rest of the country. I had been avoiding dining out for a while, feeling the presence of infections in my living area and the looming threat of the disease. In mid-December, on a weekday when my husband had taken a day off, we went to the Teine area for some errands. There was a restaurant that caught my eye from the reviews on Myレビ, so we decided to give it a try. The information suggested that the restaurant had taken measures against infections, so we felt reassured and chose to dine there. When we arrived, the parking space in front of the restaurant seemed full, but the staff came out and showed us where to park. The interior of the restaurant was spacious enough, with screens hanging between neighboring seats. This setup allowed us to dine without worrying about the neighboring tables and also served as a splash guard, leaving a good impression. There was a spiral staircase in the center, indicating that there was a second-floor seating area with a nice view. After looking over the menu, we placed our orders, and we were asked if we wanted to add "zenzai" as dessert for the day. Normally, I would have jumped at the offer, but that day I had plans to eat a different dessert so I passed. The prices were listed excluding tax, but there was also a clear indication of the tax-inclusive prices right below, which was easy to understand. We ordered the following dishes:
- Seasonal Vegetable Set Meal: 1000 yen (tax included 1100 yen)
- Bara Chirashi: 1000 yen (tax included 1100 yen)
The seasonal vegetable set meal consisted of 9 seasonal vegetables, nigiri sushi, miso soup, and chawanmushi. The dishes were well-seasoned, not too strong or too weak, and had a delightful taste. The egg was slightly sweet with a souffle-like texture, almost like a dessert. The nigiri sushi included 6 pieces, with the rice being small in size, but balanced well with the toppings. The Bara Chirashi had a good variety of ingredients, offering different textures to enjoy. The chawanmushi had only shiitake mushrooms as toppings, serving as a refreshing palate cleanser. The pickled ginger was delicious, as expected from a sushi restaurant, and my husband even wished there was more in the Bara Chirashi. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and the service was excellent, making it a place I would love to visit regularly if it were in my neighborhood. Additionally, we received a drink service voucher at the time of payment, adding to the overall satisfaction of the dining experience. The restaurant was diligent in their infection prevention measures, such as regular ventilation and offering knee blankets during the cold weather. The staff seemed busy and didn't show many smiles, but their dedicated service left a positive impression. Dining out after about a month brought some anxiety, but the various services provided by the restaurant made the experience enjoyable.
