I used this restaurant because I wanted to eat Genghis Khan when I traveled to Hakodate. They offer all-you-can-eat options, but this time I had the Soft Lamb Set and the Lamb Trio Set. It comes with vegetables, so I found it very reasonable, and the taste was delicious.

After two days of seafood, on the third night we had Genghis Khan. I was impressed by the Genghis Khan I had in Sapporo last year. Since famous Genghis Khan restaurants were fully booked, we went to this place. They use traditional iron plates for their Genghis Khan here. The restaurant is spacious and relaxed, with a nostalgic Showa era dining feel. The Genghis Khan was delicious. The rich, garlic-filled sauce was also great. It may be considered B-class gourmet, but it was the most satisfying meal of this trip.

A group of five people in their early 40s, consisting of 4 men and 1 woman, visited the restaurant. They tried all types of Genghis Khan dishes. They ordered 2 servings of lamb loin with vegetables, 2 servings of raw lamb with vegetables, and 1 serving of soft lamb. They also added 4 servings of lamb loin with vegetables. The meat was cooked on a flat iron plate, starting with high heat and then switching to low heat once the meat turned white around the edges. The lamb loin had a good amount of fat and was well-received by everyone. The raw lamb was for those who prefer lean meat, while the soft lamb had a tender texture. Cooking the meat on a bed of vegetables resulted in minimal smoke and oil splatter. The restaurant had good ventilation and no unpleasant smell of fat. The sauce had a strong garlic aroma, but it complemented the meat well. Each person enjoyed their preferred alcohol and the total bill was less than 5,000 yen per person, with change left over. The value for money was excellent, with delicious meat and a satisfying meal for a reasonable price.

When I was a child (30 years ago...), my family used to go to "Shouraku" in Oonuma every Sunday for all-you-can-eat Genghis Khan. It was an old building, but they rebuilt it and just when things were looking up... they suddenly closed down. I remember feeling really disappointed as a child. I always wanted to eat that Genghis Khan again. Recently, I suddenly remembered and searched online, and to my surprise, I found out that they have reopened at Matsuyoutei. I hurried over to visit. When I saw the owner's face, it brought back memories. It was her! When I asked, it was indeed the former Shouraku. They have been at their current location for 20 years. I had their lunch, which was only 850 yen, a real bargain. They have their own special sauce that is incredibly delicious. I was hoping it would still be the same, and it was. The same sauce in the same dish as before. It was amazing!!! And one word, delicious! Really delicious! It's a homemade sauce, so you can only taste it here. Next time, I plan to order the all-you-can-eat option. The lunch meat was tender and very tasty, so I have high hopes for the all-you-can-eat. I might become a regular customer again, just like in the old days. Thank you for staying open!

Genghis Khan in Hakodate is like a curveball from Mr. Ootani, full of changes and very good. I wanted to eat a lot if I was feeling well. I will definitely come back!

The food is always delicious here. The price of lamb has gone up, but it's still relatively cheap.

The all-you-can-eat lamb at a low cost is the best ☆☆ I always rely on it at this time of year. It's a bit more expensive now, but lamb is expensive so it can't be helped. Still, the cost performance is amazing.

The restaurant is located along the tram street and has been there for a long time. There are a few parking spaces next to the store. The phone number is 55-2989 (GoGo Yakiniku). When eating Genghis Khan, be aware that the smell can stick to your clothes. Let's eat with that in mind. I went in thinking it would be around 1500 yen for all-you-can-eat, but due to recent price increases, dinner time had gone up to 1950 yen. Considering the current situation, I can understand it to some extent, but it still feels a bit expensive compared to other yakiniku buffet places. The service from the older lady in charge of the floor can be a bit blunt, but it's just part of the charm. The all-you-can-eat options include soft lamb, vegetables, rice, and miso soup. They seem to be particular about their sauce, which is a rich sauce with garlic and black sesame. If you're concerned, ask them to leave out certain ingredients. They grill the food on a gas iron plate. While the traditional Genghis Khan pot is nice, a flat iron plate works better for the lamb rolls. As for the proper way to grill Genghis Khan, some say to oil the plate, place the vegetables, cover them with the lamb, and cook until steamed. If you don't do this, the plate may burn. It takes time initially, but enjoy it with some miso soup. If the heat is too strong or things start to burn, the lady will give you some guidance (laughs). Coffee is self-service. When you're getting full but want a bit more, ask for a small portion of meat. Grilling the fatty parts well is delicious! However, the 1950 yen price increase is quite painful!

This Genghis Khan specialty restaurant has been in business for about 15 years. It is located on the second floor along the train street. They serve authentic Hokkaido-style Genghis Khan. The restaurant is known for its affordable all-you-can-eat option for 1,450 yen. Unlike touristy places that often try to remove the gamey taste, this restaurant sticks to the traditional flavors. The atmosphere is filled with local families, but it is also recommended for tourists as it is within walking distance from Goryokaku.

I visited the restaurant around 7 pm on a weekend, and when I said I didn't have a reservation, they apologized and said they were fully booked. A few days later, I went on a weekday around 6 pm and found only three groups of customers. I was happy to be able to enjoy the Genghis Khan dish. I ordered the regular set and some lamb loin. The vegetables were varied and the meat options were good. The meat was a bit oily towards the end, but the rice was cooked perfectly. Overall, I enjoyed the Genghis Khan and beer, and I felt grateful to be a local resident.

During my business trip to Hakodate, my colleague took me to this restaurant. I have had Genghis Khan in Sapporo before, but the lamb here was also very delicious. I wonder if it's the sauce that makes it so good? As someone from mainland Japan, I naturally think that beef is more delicious, but being in Hokkaido, eating Genghis Khan here felt exceptionally tasty. You can see the main street and streetcars from the restaurant, which adds to the atmosphere. This is definitely a place I would recommend when you visit Hakodate. The restaurant has counter seats, tables, and regular seats. It's not a very big place, but when I went on a Saturday, it wasn't fully packed. It seems that many celebrities also visit this restaurant.

One of the famous local dishes in Hokkaido is "Genghis Khan". I had the image of eating it at night, but I heard that you can eat it for a good deal at lunch, so I visited this restaurant. It is located about a 2-minute walk from the Suginamicho tram stop in Hakodate, heading towards Yunokawa. The yellow sign is easy to spot. The first floor is a parking lot, with space for about 4-5 cars. As you go up the stairs and enter the restaurant, the kitchen is on the left and there is a slightly spacious seating area on the right. There are 3 tables for 6 people, 2 tables for 4 people, and 2 tatami tables. In the middle of the tables, there is a gas stove with a square frame on top where the rectangular Genghis Khan pot sits. At lunch, the "Genghis Khan set meal" comes with plenty of vegetables such as onions, cabbage, bean sprouts, and green peppers, sliced meat, rice, miso soup, and pickles. It's a great deal. The meat is likely lamb slices based on the price, but the taste of the sauce was delicious and satisfying. After finishing the meal, tea and toothpicks are brought out. Additionally, during lunch, self-serve coffee is also included. It's even more of a good deal.

If you were to have one last meal, my family would recommend Matsuyotei! That's how much we love this place. I used to think it was a buffet restaurant, but after trying several Genghis Khan restaurants in Sapporo, I realized how high the quality of Matsuyotei's Genghis Khan really is. First of all, the sauce is delicious. The balance of sweetness and saltiness is truly outstanding. The spiciness comes from grated garlic rather than chili peppers. (If you're not a fan of garlic, they can leave it out for you.) You can balance the meat and vegetables perfectly. Start by placing the fat on the hot plate and cook it well. Instead of immediately grilling the meat, cover the fat with a thick layer of vegetables, then place the frozen slices of soft lamb on top. It's like covering the vegetables with a lid. Once the vegetables are soft and the meat is thawed, it's ready. Grill the meat little by little on the hot plate and enjoy it with the vegetables. The harmonious balance of flavors when it all comes together in your mouth is amazing! Oh, I'm craving it again. The final blow is the excellent cost performance. The evening drink set in the photo can be ordered anytime without any restrictions on the day of the week. It comes with two drinks, rice, and miso soup for 2,000 yen with change left over! And if you add the lamb feast, you can taste the traditional flavor of lamb loin. Furthermore, the rice and miso soup here are exquisite. Although I'm a drinker, I always have rice when I come here. The perfectly cooked rice and fragrant bonito broth miso soup. Oh, I'm craving it again. For a party, the all-you-can-eat and drink option may be cost-effective, but for a small group, ordering individual items allows you to taste a variety of dishes. I was a bit surprised by the red wine here. It's made by Otobe's Tomioka Winery and has a "!" in the name "Mr. Genghis Khan." However, this wine is truly the best match for Genghis Khan. Definitely give it a try!!!

In Hakodate, there is a delicious Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) restaurant that is considered one of the top three in the area. Their fresh lamb is excellent. The all-you-can-eat course for 1450 yen is quite a deal. The sauce is also delicious, which is a highlight of this restaurant. The only downside is that the last order is at 8:30 pm, which is quite early. Many tourists make sure to visit this restaurant every time they come to Hakodate.

It was a trip to GW, so I thought it would be better to make a reservation and decided to call. The person on the other end was a woman who was very friendly, but unfortunately they were fully booked. However, she mentioned that if I could wait until around 7pm, there might be a chance to get in as the 5pm reservations usually finish in about 2 hours. So, I headed to the restaurant by streetcar aiming for 7pm. It was less than a 5-minute walk from Sugimami Station. As I approached the yellow sign from the station, I found the restaurant. I went up to the second floor and luckily got a table in a raised seating area as the restaurant was quite busy. The menu seemed to offer a variety of options, but since I was unsure, I decided to try the all-you-can-eat option. It came with a large plate of vegetables and thinly sliced soft lamb meat. I wasn't sure how to cook it, but observing other tables, I tried placing the lamb on top of the vegetables and grilling it. The lamb meat had a great taste and was a healthy option with plenty of vegetables, making it appealing even for women. Although it was all-you-can-eat, I could only manage to eat three plates, so if you prefer smaller portions, you might enjoy ordering individual items. Genghis Khan, a favorite among locals, won over even a Kansai person like me.

Matsuyotei is a place I had often heard about but never visited until recently. I wasn't expecting much because I had heard that they didn't serve fresh lamb, but when I tried it, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! The sauce was especially tasty, with a strong garlic flavor. The prices were also reasonable, so I was satisfied with my meal. I highly recommend it for a meal with friends or colleagues. I definitely want to go back again!

I'm going to Matsuyotei for lunch (cheap, delicious). I order the Genghis Khan set meal instead of the all-you-can-eat option. The miso soup is amazing!!! It's one of the top five in Hakodate (for me, the number one is the tempura restaurant Matsumoto). The miso soup at Matsuyotei is simple with leeks and tofu, but it's piping hot and has a great broth. The sauce is full of garlic, which is also delicious!!! There's a sauce without garlic as well, but I recommend trying the garlic one. The clean oshibori they provide is always appreciated. The tempura is pure white with a thick batter, and it's piping hot. The wife, who doesn't smile much, is very precise.
