I prefer cheap food, as the taste doesn't diminish over time. I target closing time to get a 20-30% discount. I bought beef bowls and fried food this time. I sometimes modify them into rice bowls or use them as side dishes for lunch boxes. Apart from ramen and snacks for alcohol, these are just to fill my stomach. It's like a task to eat, so cheap is the way to go. I'll definitely come back.

I tend to buy side dishes without thinking too much. Even if I buy a bit too much, I can always use them as bento box fillings. I try to cut down on eating out under the guise of saving money, but these side dishes just look so delicious. Especially the ones that seem like they would go well with alcohol. Even though I went to buy completely different things, I end up buying all these side dishes. Here are the ones I bought, even though I tried to limit myself. I didn't buy any bento boxes, so that's a win. When I go to the supermarket near closing time, they start putting discount stickers on items, and I end up buying even more to compete with the other customers. I guess I shouldn't go to the supermarket on an empty stomach.

I was invited to a restaurant in Sapporo for my friend's birthday, but I don't really enjoy going out for people's birthdays because it can be expensive. My wallet was feeling the pinch after the meal. They asked me what I wanted, but it felt like a ventriloquist act. I ended up buying some sashimi to take home. The parking lot was packed, but the prices were indeed cheap. The quality of the seafood was decent, with items like spear squid being quite good. Overall, it was not bad, and I might visit again during a less busy time.

In August 2015, "JR Seisen Ichiba Shinkawa Store" is a fairly large supermarket. It is operated by Hokkaido JR Freshness Retail, a subsidiary of JR Hokkaido. There are 9 stores in Sapporo city center. Unfortunately, there is no store in Chuo-ku where I live. I visited the store when I was in Kita-ku. The store is located along the Kotoni Eimachi Street in the Shinkawa area of Sapporo's Kita-ku. Please check the exact location on Tabelog. I visited around 3 pm on a weekday. I parked my car in the spacious parking lot in front of the store. The store is bright and spacious. The prices are generally low. Bento boxes and side dishes are made in the store. You can see the side dishes being made behind glass. The bento boxes are cheap, with many priced at less than 300 yen. There are hardly any bento boxes priced over 500 yen. It's much cheaper than convenience stores. I bought a "salmon bento" for 288 yen and "salmon fry" for 100 yen. The salmon in the bento had a good taste. The bento included grilled salmon, mini omelet, kinpira burdock, croquette, half a pumpkin tempura, spaghetti, pickled vegetables, rice, and umeboshi sesame. The salmon fry was big and not too greasy. It was a good size for the price. I also bought a 1.5L bottle of Fanta white peach, Calbee potato chips in salt and consommé flavors. The salmon bento for 288 yen was a great deal with a variety of side dishes and a good portion size. It was a satisfying meal for the price. The 100 yen salmon fry was also a good deal. This store offers many affordable bento boxes and side dishes. It's a convenient supermarket to have near your home. The 288 yen bento boxes are great for a quick and easy lunch every day. I might try a fancier 400 yen bento next time. Delicious, thank you for the meal.

I always feel like everything is cheap here. At night, bento boxes, side dishes, and even meat become even cheaper, and I end up buying too much. It's a situation where buying cheap bento boxes is a waste of money♪
