I went to the Mitsuwa Takamatsu local product exhibition with my girlfriend ❤️ After seeing the large dorayaki due to the influence of a drama, I felt like eating it haha The red bean paste inside was coarse, which I don't like, but I do like the whole red bean paste haha I bought corn potage without any red bean paste (^-^) The dough was chewy and delicious. It was limited to 100 servings, so I was lucky to get some left (≧∀≦)ノ

I was intrigued by the unique sweets "Memeyaki" from the tofu shop "Meme" that was temporarily set up at the Meitetsu Department Store in Nagoya. On the last day of the pop-up, I got a special set of 6 pieces at a great deal. The expiration date is usually 1 day, but they can last for 3 days in the refrigerator and 1 month in the freezer. The size is similar to a dorayaki, so they have a substantial weight to them. They are best enjoyed slightly warmed up before eating. The texture is chewy and all of them were delicious, but here are some thoughts on each flavor:
- Soy Milk Caramel Flake: A rich and elegant dessert with soy milk cream and caramel inside. The combination is delicious and well-balanced.
- Chewy Apple: A cute pink dough filled with soy milk cream and apple cooked in original sauce. Another tasty combination!
- Hokkaido Salt Black Bean: The dough is mixed with Hokkaido salt black beans, and it is generously filled with sweet red bean paste. It's more like a dorayaki in terms of texture!
- Bitter Chocolate: A slightly bitter chocolate filling that gives a fondant chocolate-like sensation when warmed up.
- Soy Milk Cream (No.1 popular): A blend of Hokkaido Tokachi red beans and soy milk cream creates a perfect harmony of flavors.
- Sweet Potato: A combination of soy milk cream in the center and sweet potato wrapped in pink and white colored skins on the outside. It's a bit on the sweeter side, but delicious when warmed up!

Bitter chocolate and sweet potato Hokkaido-style taiyaki were being sold at Kichijoji Atre's Kotoichi, so I decided to try them. The taiyaki was slightly small, filled with plenty of cream. The dough was quite unique, made by a tofu shop with soy milk, thick and chewy with a lot of elasticity. The colors were colorful and delicious. It's a snack that seems common but I haven't seen it before.

This is actually my second visit. They have various items like oyaki for 200-250 yen, strawberry fromage, sesame soy milk cream, Hokkaido stew, and tofu donuts for 300 yen. The skin is chewy, and the soy milk cream is refreshing, making it very easy to eat. The tofu donuts are also chewy and fluffy! They also have side dishes like tofu hamburg and sweet potato tempura. The older lady working there is quite pushy, but she is kind and provides good service, so I didn't feel uncomfortable at all!

On a regular day off, I visited a shop that is usually closed on Sundays. After having lunch, I remembered a shop nearby on my way back and decided to stop by. When I entered the shop, a friendly lady greeted me. I wanted to try their ohagi, and I was surprised by the variety of options available. The lady explained each one to me, and I ended up buying several for my family. She also recommended adding some thick-fried tofu, so I couldn't resist. The ohagi had a soft and chewy texture with sweet bean paste and soy milk cream inside, which complemented each other well. The chocolate ohagi was filled with plenty of chocolate cream, offering a nice balance of sweetness and a hint of bitterness. The matcha shiratama ohagi contained bean paste, matcha shiratama, and had a delightful combination of sweet bean paste, matcha bitterness, and chewy shiratama texture. The sesame ohagi had sesame bean paste and soy milk cream, providing a nice blend of sesame aroma and creaminess. The thick-fried tofu (cotton) was cut into four pieces and grilled, then served with green onions and ginger soy sauce. The crispy exterior revealed a fluffy interior, making it delicious. Personally, I think the ohagi could have a thinner skin, but my family enjoyed them, and I'm curious to try other flavors next time I visit. Thank you for the meal!

It was an evening before the closing day, so the shop at Mini Omote-sando Park had a limited selection. I bought three "oyaki" - one with white bean milk cream, one with chocolate, and one with matcha. The white bean milk cream oyaki had a soft and white dough filled with red bean paste and white bean milk cream, giving it a gentle flavor. The chocolate oyaki had a chocolate dough filled with plenty of chocolate sauce, like a Western confectionery. The matcha oyaki had a matcha-flavored dough with matcha inside as well. They were all quite delicious. I also bought silk tofu and cotton tofu, which tasted great even without much soy sauce. I hope to visit the shop earlier next time. Thank you for the meal.

Ohayaki!! Is this kind of sweet red bean paste only found in Hokkaido? I grew up with this, so when I think of ohayaki, it's this! The balance of the sweet red bean paste and the dough is just right! This shop, run by a tofu maker, seems to be popular! What sets it apart is the chewy dough. I'm hooked. There were various flavors available, but I bought the salted black bean, soy milk cream, and matcha cream ones! The salted black bean one is like a big bean daifuku, I love it! It's perfect for a snack, and it's satisfying with a good amount of filling! It was my first time here, but I want to come back to try more flavors!

I walked back from Sapporo Station... My goal is to walk at least 10,000 steps a day, but I fell far short on this day... That's the reason. Instead of taking the shortest route straight home, I took a detour on a scenic road. I found a new café along the way that I wanted to stop by, but I was too tired from work today, so I decided to head straight home. As I walked west on Mini Odori, I came across "Meme" and decided to try their "Silken Tofu" for 270 yen. I walked home with the bag of tofu swinging. At dinner time, I had it with cold tofu. The tofu was packed with the savory flavor of soybeans. I love tofu and have tried it in many places, but I think this tofu is of a high quality and quite delicious. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

At first glance, the snack looks like a taiyaki (fish-shaped cake). I believe the name "oyaki" comes from this shape, but it has a unique texture that sets it apart from the traditional taiyaki. The texture is incredibly interesting, with a perfect softness and chewiness. There are various flavors available, so you won't get bored. I purchased the matcha milk, strawberry milk, and bitter chocolate flavors this time, and all of them were delicious.

While waiting for a nearby soba restaurant to open, I stopped by a local oyaki shop. I visited around 11 am on a Saturday. Various oyaki were lined up on the right side of the entrance, and there were tofu and fried tofu in the showcase in front of the entrance. There were about 6-8 types of oyaki, each containing 2 pieces. They had flavors like soy milk, chocolate, pumpkin, sweet potato, black beans, apple, and more. I wished they offered single pieces or allowed mixing different flavors. I bought the "Memey Oyaki" (Hokkaido pumpkin) which was still warm as they had just opened. Despite being in front of a soba restaurant, I couldn't resist and ate one immediately. The dough made with tofu had a crispy outer layer and a chewy inside. The chewy texture was really nice! The pumpkin filling on top added a nice accent to the texture. The pumpkin paste was sweet and creamy, while the red bean paste was also rich and sweet. Both sides were delicious. The "Yose Tofu" had a rich and smooth taste without the need for dipping sauce. It was surprisingly delicious on its own. I also tried the "Tsumami Age" which came in a pack of three flavors: corn, edamame, and pickled ginger. They were soft and fluffy, and the gentle sweetness and fluffy texture of the tofu made them easy to eat. They are great as a snack or side dish. Overall, everything was delicious! It's nice to have a good tofu shop in the neighborhood without having to go to a department store. While they may be a bit pricier than supermarkets, the taste is worth it. Memey seems like the type of shop that has become a staple in the community due to its delicious food. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again.

After seeing it introduced on TV, I bought some Memeyaki at the Hokkaido Fair in Shinjuku. The outside of the Memeyaki was really chewy and the texture was so satisfying. The chocolate flavor, in particular, was delicious. It's a must-try for chocolate lovers.

Fried tofu, u-no-hana (wild vegetables), and fried silk tofu are the best! It's so good that I don't even take pictures every week because it's just too obvious.

Located at 4-13 Kita 4 Nishi 13, on the west side of the botanical garden.
▼About the Shop▼
"Memé" used to operate a tofu restaurant and sell tofu products in a corner of the Hokkaido Jingu Shrine parking lot. In 2015, they relocated to their current location and now focus on selling products and participating in local product exhibitions.
▼Menu▼
They offer various types of tofu, tofu processed products, and "Memé oyaki" among their menu items.

- Memé Oyaki (Strawberry Custard) for 400 yen
(December 2017)
A visually striking pink-colored pack of 2 oyaki. The dough is quite chewy with a subtle strawberry flavor. The strawberry custard filling has a balanced acidity and sweetness, which pairs well with the dough.

This tofu specialty shop offers a variety of tofu products, including tofu processed items and oyaki. Previously, they operated as a tofu restaurant at the Hokkaido Jingu Shrine parking lot before moving to their current location in 2015. While I visited mainly for the oyaki, I found their unique selection of oyaki quite interesting. The one I tried had a delightful taste, and I would like to visit again to try their tofu and other products in the future.

There are various types of "memeyaki" available. While they may look like dorayaki on the outside, they are actually made of chewy, dense mochi. Bitter Chocolate (180 yen): The gooey chocolate is rich and has a more bitter taste than sweet. Chestnut (250 yen): Chocolate dough with chestnut paste and chunks of candied chestnuts. Wasanbon Salted Black Soybean (220 yen): The saltiness is just right. Black honey with bracken rice cake (240 yen): Bracken rice cake inside mochi. Wasanbon Soy Milk Cream (220 yen): Sweet red bean paste and soy milk cream, the most basic flavor. Sweet Potato (240 yen): Sweet potato and soybean paste filling. Maybe just the sweet potato is enough. Each one is packed with plenty of filling and has a unique and delicious taste. I thought it would be a light snack, but even one piece is quite filling. Be careful not to overeat.

When I went to Unozu nearby, it was their regular holiday, so I decided to try MeMe, where I had bought delicious tofu before. I had never tried their "oyaki" before, and I was surprised to see that they had several flavors available. I thought it would be just red bean paste and soy milk cream, but they also had chocolate and matcha flavors. Since it was my first time trying oyaki, I chose the red bean paste and soy milk cream flavor. You can only buy them in sets of two, which was a bit inconvenient. The white oyaki had a chewy texture reminiscent of a popular snack from the past. Inside, there was a mix of red bean paste and soy milk cream. At first, it tasted like a combination of the two, but as I continued to eat, the soy milk flavor became more pronounced. The combination of red bean paste and soy milk was a good match. However, I have to be honest and mention that while eating the oyaki, I could smell a distinct freezer odor, even though there were no frozen items nearby. Also, the edges of the oyaki were a bit dry. Additionally, I noticed that there were some additives in the ingredients, which was a bit concerning. Considering all these factors, I felt that the price of 350 yen was a bit high. I'll definitely go back for their tofu, but I might not purchase the oyaki again based on this experience.
