[First Visit on July 15, 2019] On Marine Day, a holiday, we decided to have brunch outdoors while shopping. When I asked my wife what she wanted to eat, she said she wanted onigiri, so we headed to an onigiri specialty store near JR Shiroishi Station North Exit that we had never visited before, but unfortunately it was under renovation. Disappointed, we decided to try a small Italian restaurant called "Yattokame" that had caught our attention with its name across the street. The restaurant had parking space for two cars, and one spot was available, so we made a change in plans and visited for the first time. The restaurant was run by an elderly gentleman alone, and the lunch menu was limited, with only a few options for pasta or pizza as individual items, or pasta sets with focaccia and a mini salad included (starting from 880 yen). There were about three types of pasta sets available at all times, along with around two types of daily pasta specials, and the same for pizza sets with a mini salad included (starting from 880 yen) and some daily pizza specials. There were also some cake options. When we entered the restaurant, two women in their late 40s to early 50s were finishing their meal, about to be served dessert. Since the owner was working alone, we had to wait for about 2 minutes for water and menus to be provided. We both ordered pasta sets: I chose Arrabbiata (880 yen) with oolong tea (100 yen), and my wife chose Carbonara (980 yen) with iced coffee (100 yen). In this type of Italian lunch, salads and focaccia are typically served before the main dish, but in this restaurant, both the main pasta dish and the salad were served at the same time. Personally, I prefer to have everything served together for lunch, so it didn't bother me, but it might bother some people. The default portion of pasta might seem small for men, but you can order 1.2 times the amount for an additional 100 yen or 1.5 times for an additional 200 yen. As for the taste, it could be described as homey, neither particularly good nor bad. My wife, who loves minced meat dishes like bacon, sausages, dumplings, and hamburgers but dislikes the smell of pork on its own, ordered the Carbonara made with homemade pancetta. However, after taking a few bites, she asked to switch with my Arrabbiata, as she couldn't handle the smell of the pork. The pancetta used was not smoked and was not fried to a crisp, so the fatty smell was too much for someone who doesn't like pork. By the way, "Yattokame" is a Nagoya dialect meaning "after a long time." Thank you for the meal. @ Italian Cafe Yattokame #SapporoShiroishiDistrictGourmet #NearJRShiroishiStation #Italian #Yattokame #PastaSet #Arrabbiata #Carbonara #HolidayBrunch
