It seems to be a family-run business, and they must be doing well with sales during the pandemic. The smoked mackerel is moist and has a decent amount of fat. The smoking flavor is not too strong, and it goes well with vinegared rice. The smoked oysters in oil are enhanced with oyster sauce before smoking, giving them a refreshing flavor. The smoking process is not overpowering. The smoked cod roe is said to be seared on the surface, but the smoky flavor is not noticeable, only the good aspects come through. It is salty and goes well as a drinking snack. It pairs well with white wine. The smoked shrimp fried rice is recommended, and making it for one person may bring out more shrimp flavor. Perhaps tempering the shrimp to extract shrimp oil could also be a good idea.

When it gets hot, the symptoms worsen, as it is a designated rare disease by the government. Unfortunately, there is still no medication that suits me. If reviews and comments suddenly stop, please assume that I have been hospitalized again, as before. Even if I take a third break, I still want to return to being a reviewer. Likes and comments may be delayed, but I plan to catch up after returning. In June 2020, I visited "The Smoke Shop Maruyama Store," a specialty store for smoked food. It is a popular store affiliated with the "Son of a Farmer" series. The store is located where the original "Son of a Farmer" restaurant was, which was also very popular. It is located along the "back approach" where fashionable stores line up in the Maruyama area of Sapporo's Chuo Ward. Please check the exact location of the store on Tabelog. I visited around 11:30 am on a weekday. The products include smoked seafood, meat, vegetables, and more. They also sold "Smoked Octopus in Oil" that I bought at "The Smoke Shop Mitsukoshi Sapporo Store." According to the staff, the products sold at "Mitsukoshi Sapporo Store" and "Maruyama Store" are not available at the "Factory Store." I also bought the "Smoked Pickled Radish" that was included in the new product "Smoked Potato Salad" that was good last time. Smoked Octopus in Oil Weight: 97g (after deducting the weight of the packaging) The octopus is boiled and then smoked with rosemary for flavor. It is soaked in olive oil, with an Italian-style taste that pairs well with wine. Price: 740 yen (tax included) Smoked Pickled Radish Weight: 81g (after deducting the weight of the packaging) The base is, of course, pickled radish. It has less moisture and concentrated umami flavor. It goes well with Japanese sake and wine. Price: 380 yen (tax included) "Smoked Octopus in Oil" is a stylish appetizer that goes very well with wine. It's a great match. The "Smoked Pickled Radish" has a European flair and is perfect for nibbling due to its firm texture. It goes well with Japanese sake but even better with wine, making it a "pickled vegetable" that suits wine more. With the increase in at-home drinking, it is a great option for a stylish drink at home. You can easily transform your home into an Italian bar. I wonder what kind of smoked food I'll try next time. It was delicious, thank you for the feast.

A specialist smoked food store located in Ura Omotesando. This is a branch of "Son of Farmer" group. The cozy store is adorned with several wooden bear carvings, giving off a Hokkaido vibe. Prices are on the higher side, but the food is delicious. Paté de Campagne @ 650 yen.

On a certain holiday in Hokkaido, during a slightly worrying time numerically, while walking in the Maruyama area, I happened to pass by a shop with a sign that read "smoke". I peeked inside and discovered that the shop, which used to sell delicious potato chips, had now been transformed into a smokehouse. The interior of the shop was exactly the same as before, with lots of bear wood carvings and other decorations displayed on the sides, and various smoked items showcased and sold in the display case. On that day, I chose a few items from the menu that caught my interest from the showcase. The "smoked quail (380 yen)" was truly smoked! A light aroma and saltiness emanated from the surface, and the umami flavor was spot on. The yolk inside also had a hint of flavor, and the balance between the smokiness and the taste was impressive. The "smoked gizzard confit (500 yen)" had a chewy texture typical of gizzards, with a unique flavor. The combination of olive oil, herbs, and smokiness created a wonderful harmony. The "marinated smoked mackerel (600 yen)" had a fatty mackerel body that was juicy, and thanks to the smoking process, the fishy smell of oily fish was significantly reduced. For a moment, I even sensed a flavor reminiscent of pickled herring. This dish seems more suitable as a side dish for rice rather than just a snack with alcohol. By the way, speaking of smoked food, there is also a shop in the Otaru area that is worth a visit. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I love smoked food, so I was curious about this shop. I visited here thinking of buying smoked pickled radish for dinner. I was planning to buy aged bacon smoked pickled radish, but then I noticed this one. I forgot the price, but it was around 620-680 yen... I wished it had more of a smoky flavor, but it was just right as a snack with alcohol. It was delicious!! I heard they also have shops at Mitsukoshi and Factories, so I definitely want to buy pickled radish next time. I was also interested in the smoked potato salad and cod roe, so I want to use this shop regularly.
