Due to a virus causing my computer to malfunction, the migration process to a new desktop computer has been completed. This is my first time using Windows 10, and due to health reasons, the migration took longer than expected. I am now back to liking and commenting on posts. Thank you for your understanding.
"Sapporo Asaichi" is a morning market where many wholesalers from Sapporo Central Wholesale Market operate. The main customers are retail stores and restaurants, especially those related to seafood. Even famous sushi restaurants come here for their supplies. Normally, general customers do not frequent this morning market, but during the year-end, many people come to buy ingredients for New Year's. The market operates on the same days as the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market's calendar, with holidays for the next year already announced. The market is open from 5 am to 11 am, with general customer parking generally not allowed until 9 am. During the year-end, a large parking lot is provided for general customers a bit further away.
"Ito Suisan" is a shop that sells fresh fish and seafood products. Their homemade "ikura soy sauce marinated" is always delicious and reasonably priced. During the year-end, it is an essential item. Within "Sapporo Asaichi," there are two shops that sell affordable "fresh bluefin tuna offcuts." One of them is "Ito Suisan." When I visited towards the end of the year, there were about 10 packs of "fresh bluefin tuna offcuts" left, more than usual. The bluefin tuna at "Ito Suisan" is often domestically sourced and on the pricier side. Lucky me! I bought the best-looking pack.
- Fresh bluefin tuna offcuts
Weight: 170g (after removing packaging)
A mix of domestically sourced fresh bluefin tuna cuts, such as lean meat and medium fatty tuna, with excellent freshness and no fishy smell. It melts in your mouth. Although it may appear to have some sinew, there were no sinew pieces at all. Priced at 494 yen including tax per 100g, it is a bargain.
Price: 842 yen (including tax)
"Ito Suisan's" "fresh bluefin tuna offcuts" are rarely seen, and the quality is very high due to the bluefin tuna being fresh. Even as offcuts, it is priced at 494 yen including tax per 100g towards the end of the year. As a seafood wholesaler, it feels like they are offering the offcuts at cost price. As far as I know, this is the cheapest place for "fresh bluefin tuna offcuts." It may not be a bluefin tuna worth over 330 million yen, but for a commoner like me, this bluefin tuna feels luxurious enough (laughs). Back in the day at the restaurant "Sushizanmai," the famous president used to sit right next to the counter where I was. He mentioned that the distribution of bluefin tuna worth over 330 million yen at the first auction is decided by the intermediary who bought it at the auction. He was very kind to the customers. Next time, I might go for "fresh bluefin tuna offcuts" again for my evening drink. Thank you for the delicious meal.
