I ordered the mixed fry set meal. The white fish, horse mackerel fry, and croquette were crispy on the outside and cooked just right inside. Delicious. The miso soup was a bit salty. The prices are generally cheap. I understand the "homey feel" mentioned in other comments. It seems like it would appeal to some people. I personally didn't feel the slippers and cleanliness vibe too much.

This restaurant is a favorite lunch spot in the area where I work, and I always notice the whiteboard with the evening menu written on it. After work, we all decided to visit together. We were served a smoked herring and sea urchin appetizer, which was a luxurious start. I'm not a big fan of sea urchin, but it paired perfectly with the herring. We ordered the "Shanpin" dish, which was like a Chinese-style pancake that reminded me of a festival stall I once saw. It was simple but delicious. I wanted to try the mackerel sashimi, but they didn't have it that day. The tonpeiyaki was generous in portion, with plenty of meat and cabbage. We also ordered the fried chicken and other dishes we usually have for lunch. The food is all meticulously prepared, likely because it's a family-run business. Although it takes a bit of time, everything is delicious. I forgot to take a picture, but the fluffy omelette was also incredibly tasty. After trying various dishes, I decided to challenge myself with the "Vanilla Ice Cream with Sake" dessert. It was served in a large cocktail glass with plenty of vanilla ice cream, presented in a surprisingly stylish way. The sake was served separately, and it was also delicious, so I took a little sip before pouring it over the ice cream. The alcohol content wasn't too strong, thanks to the coldness of the ice cream, so it was safe to enjoy. The dessert was amazing! The ice cream itself was delicious, and the presentation was fantastic. The restaurant has cats, which are usually not around during lunchtime but all four of them come out at night. They are friendly and cute, adding to the charm of the place. Despite being full, the prices were surprisingly cheap! This place is so tasty and relaxing that I might become a regular if it were closer. It's a great spot to enjoy good food away from the hustle and bustle. Both lunch and dinner were delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This is a lunch break between work. There are almost no places to eat out around here, so it seems like you have to go before 12:00 to get a seat. It's a normal house, where you take off your shoes and put on the slippers provided before heading inside... Wait, is this really a regular house? That's the feeling inside the restaurant. The menu has about 6-7 items, and it seems to change slightly every day. The recommended menu item is the "Chicken Nanban," so that's what I ordered. The owner asked, "Which dish was ordered by the woman?" Apparently, the rice bowls for women are slightly smaller than those for men. What a thoughtful gesture... so appreciated! After a short wait, the meal arrived with a large serving of 5 chicken pieces. Tartar sauce was provided on the side. There was also miso soup, salad, and a small side dish of butterbur and burdock root. The miso soup was slightly rich but had a carefully crafted dashi flavor. The chicken was fried quite well, with a slightly crunchy exterior but still flavorful with a sweet and sour taste. I didn't take a picture, but the plastic dressing bottles had kitchen paper wrapped around them, with "sesame" or "Japanese-style" written on them with a marker. This was probably to prevent the dressing from dripping and making your hands sticky. Everything about this place is filled with kindness. I didn't get to meet the cat that supposedly sometimes comes out at the shop. I was here for a few days for work in this area and tried this place out. Everything I ate was a hit! Not only was it delicious, but the evening menu also offers some tempting dishes. It's quite far from the city center, but this is definitely a place worth visiting. Thank you for the meal!

It's not officially a set meal restaurant. In addition to set meals, they also serve ramen and soba, although there are days when they are not available. The place looks like a regular house, where you take off your shoes before entering. Once inside, it feels like a living room. In one corner of the room, there is food and water for the cat. If you're lucky, the cat might come to greet you. Not recommended for those who dislike animals. As for the food, the must-try dish is the Chicken Nanban. It's a mixed fry set meal with a fried egg on top. The taste is like home-cooked food, with delicious miso soup and side dishes. It will fill you up and make you feel sleepy, but you'll be ready to tackle the rest of the day. They also host acoustic live performances at night, so I might come back to check it out. One important note: this is a smoking-friendly place, so if you can't stand smoking, it's best to avoid it.

After having a drink alone at Zenya, I arrived at Suzu's house where the hair salon lady was waiting for me. Behind the seat where we sat, there was a cute elderly cat named Aichan, with round and shiny eyes. The set menu for Saturday, June 18th included: - Fried horse mackerel set meal (for the hair salon lady) - Black Label whiskey (for myself) - Appetizer (pickled herring and grated radish) For snacks, we shared Suzu's house gyoza, which was the size of about two regular dumplings, with thin skin and a mild flavor that went well with vinegar soy sauce and chili oil, perfect for beer. After saying goodbye to Aichan and paying the bill, the owner's mother gave us some sweets, making us feel warm and happy. I will definitely visit Aichan again!

While strolling around with Fluffy, I stumbled upon a flag and felt like having a light drink, so I decided to drop by! I was surprised as soon as I entered! Apparently, it's a place where you have to take off your shoes. As I walked further, the mother kindly guided me in. There was one other group of customers, a father talking with them, so they must be regulars. I ordered a Japanese sake from Suntory and some delicious saba and grilled fish cake as a snack. The hokkai shiokara (fermented squid) served as an appetizer was really tasty. While leisurely enjoying my drink, occasionally a cat would walk by. It seems they also serve lunch, so I'd like to come back and try a hearty meal next time.

Recently, my walks have been deeper and more endless than ever before. Different perspectives and angles can make the invisible visible. I decided to ban the use of smartphones and challenged myself to explore without digital assistance. On that particular day, the 10th anniversary of Steve Jobs' passing, I found myself wandering into a quiet area of Sapporo, surrounded by a sake brewery, decaying apartments, and eerie mixed-use buildings. Feeling trapped, I stumbled upon a small homey restaurant with a sign that read "home cooking". I entered cautiously, taking off my shoes at the entrance, and found myself in a space that resembled a cozy home with Art Deco furniture, calligraphy scrolls, paintings, and records scattered around. The silent office worker dining at the counter added to the mysterious atmosphere. I ordered the "tonkatsu set meal" and was served a perfectly fried small tonkatsu that exuded a homely charm. As I pondered the concept of "home cooking", I realized its subjective and emotional nature, making it difficult to define. Reflecting on the experience, I acknowledged the challenge of capturing such a personal and elusive concept in writing.

I went to this restaurant in the neighborhood to run errands and have lunch. It was my second time here. I arrived after 12:30 and the place was almost full. I was seated at a 4-seat table and given hot tea and a paper towel. The menu was handed to me, but I was still waiting to place my order. I started to feel anxious. I finally ordered the soy sauce ramen for 650 yen and the menu was promptly taken away. The service took a bit longer due to the number of customers. The ramen was served in a unique bowl with toppings like chashu, menma, naruto, sautéed onions, and bean sprouts. The chashu was small, lean, and tasty. The soup looked like miso and had a good flavor from the sautéed vegetables. It was not too salty and very delicious. The noodles were thin, curly, and cooked al dente, which I liked. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted. It seemed like they used MSG skillfully. The customer next to me had tonkatsu, but it was small so they ordered croquettes as well.笑 (November 2019)

I visited this shop where I used to BM. I came at the opening time but it was closed. I wandered around the neighborhood and then revisited, and it was open. I looked at the lunch menu and ordered the omu yakisoba for 750 yen. It took a bit of time for it to be served. The omu yakisoba did not come with soup. The sauce and mayonnaise were on top of the egg omelette, with bonito flakes sprinkled on top. The yakisoba noodles were thin and soft. They seemed to use a lot of sauce, making it quite rich. The acidity of the sauce was strong. I wish they had fried it a bit more to remove excess moisture. The ingredients included a small amount of pork and cabbage, with plenty of onions. The pork was not belly meat. Oh, there was also pickled ginger. The portion size was surprisingly good. Unfortunately, I didn't get to meet the cat mascot. I hope to visit again next time, while enjoying a drink and meeting the cat.

Located at Minami 3 Higashi 4, Sapporo. A bit south from Minami 2 street. I visited this restaurant after trying their fried oysters at "Hama Shin" nearby. It's a cozy place that transforms into a full-fledged izakaya at night. I arrived at 11:00 with no other customers. The atmosphere felt like dining in someone's living room, very homey. They offer limited edition Chitosetsuru sake, probably due to the Chitosetsuru Sake Museum nearby. Lunch sets are around 600-700 yen. I chose the ginger pork lunch set. The ginger pork was different than expected, with a sauce and onions. It lacked the usual ginger flavor and charred taste. The side dish of roast ham, asparagus, and scrambled eggs was tasty. The rice was also well-cooked and delicious. I look forward to trying their drinking set next time. Thank you for the meal.

When you get close to the subway bus center, it can be quite difficult to find a place to eat. Walking around south from Odori... There are ramen shops around, but none really catch my interest... At times like this, the banners saying "Ramen" or "We serve lunch" stand out from afar, almost like they're calling out to you. The building is a renovated single-story house with no partition walls, and it has dining table sets commonly used in households. In the midst of this, a big tabby cat casually walks through. Say hi as you pass by, kitty~♪ (laughs) Now, what I had was the daily special "Big Chicken Katsu Set" starting at 750 yen. The katsu, fried to perfection, was tender and cut into just the right size for easy eating. There's sauce or soy sauce on the table, which you're supposed to pour over the katsu, but neither really seemed to match well. I tried mixing the salad dressing with the sauce and pouring it over, and it turned out pretty good. It seems like the husband takes care of cooking while the wife serves the food. And the manager seems to be the cat-like figure. To be continued... Not really (laughs)

I tried to enter this restaurant several times but found it intimidating, so I gave up. However, I gathered my courage and visited for a drink during the second round. The restaurant is a renovated single-family home and has a hassle of taking off your shoes before entering. Inside, it had a confusing concept of being either a Western-style restaurant or an izakaya. The alcohol and dishes on the menu were reasonably priced. Since it was my first visit, I tried the recommended sake and small dishes by the owner. There are many different types of restaurants in Sapporo, but I found a place where I would like to come back for a leisurely dinner.

Next to the Pizza Hut that specializes in delivery, there is a lunch restaurant. I have never been inside, but I know there is a sushi restaurant and an izakaya nearby. I decided to come check it out since there is a restaurant next to the pizza place. There was a sign saying "Lunch available" and a sign for "Soba" hanging at the entrance. I had a good feeling about it. I saw the menu for today's A set meal on the glass door - a choice of hamburger, oyakodon, or chicken nanban. I decided on oyakodon. I pushed aside the noren curtain and opened the door... but my feet wouldn't move forward. This situation needed to be captured in a photo. I noticed slippers... I stepped onto the dirt floor, and to the right seemed to be the kitchen, but I couldn't see any customers. Should I turn back? Hesitate? After a few seconds, a woman who seemed to be the landlady appeared from the right. "Welcome, please come this way." I changed into slippers and followed. I opened the gray curtain and found what seemed like a living room? There were 3 customers already there at 13:23. One was eating, and the other two were waiting for their orders at the counter. There were 2 tables for 4 people, 3 tables for 2 people, and 5 counter seats facing the wall. I sat alone at a 2-person booth. I ordered the oyakodon. The lunch menu was only one page, the rest were izakaya menus. The food was served in 6-7 minutes. The soft-boiled egg looked delicious! The large diced chicken thigh was great. The sauce was nicely balanced with a hint of sweetness and a full dashi flavor - I really liked it. The miso soup with seaweed was also flavorful. It seemed to have a mix of miso and dried fish powder, and it was delicious. The accompanying small dish of spaghetti was disappointing. The pickles were good. The rice portion was quite generous. I managed to finish it all. Thank you for the meal. On my way out, the landlady said, "Thank you. Are you nearby?" "Yes, it's about 700m away." "We are also open at night, so please come visit." I nodded, said "Yes," and put on my shoes.

This is a review of a restaurant near Sapporo City, Chuo-ku, located close to the Chitose Tsuru Sake Museum. It was a bit difficult to find the restaurant, as it was not in a typical commercial area. Once inside, it felt more like a large living room than a traditional izakaya. The owners, a friendly couple and their sons, were running the place. We ordered a set with a bottle of beer and chose from options like pickled mackerel and deep-fried octopus as snacks. The mackerel was thick and tasty, while the octopus was crispy and went well with beer. We also tried the recommended shrimp tempura and homemade dumplings, which were delicious. There were two cats in the restaurant, one of which was brought to our table by the owner. Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable dining experience.

Welcome! This is a quiet little diner located in Chuo Ward, in the east area of Sojo River, 4-chome Higashimichi, across from Hamashin towards Pizza Hut, right across from the parking lot of Chitose Tsuru Sake Museum. When you enter, you'll be greeted by a friendly "Please come in" and you can take off your shoes at the entrance. It feels like visiting a friend's house, with a hallway, kitchen, and a spacious living room where the owner and their family are running the place. Regular customers are enjoying their time in the living room, which is equipped with chairs, tables, a sofa, and of course, a TV. It's surprisingly busy, so I decided to sit at the counter in a different room. The lunch menu offers a few options at very affordable prices. I chose the daily special, which was a tonkatsu set. The tonkatsu was large and crispy on the outside, with tender and thick meat inside. The sauce on the table complemented it perfectly. The side cabbage could use some dressing, but the simmered dried radish was delicious. The rice had a light stickiness and a balance of dashi and miso flavor. It was served with chunky tofu pieces. Overall, the meal was prepared by the owner's son and had a homely feel to it. The price was 600 yen without tax, but considering the atmosphere and value for money, I would recommend trying it for dinner as well. The owner even sees you off outside when you leave. Thank you for the meal!
