I went to Eikado for the first time! I didn't know about this shop before, but I found out about it through Myレビ's review. The shop has a nostalgic feel to it, like a local sweets shop you would find in the neighborhood. There was no one else there. The owner seemed a bit busy helping his wife, so there might be some delay in service. I decided to buy three items: lemon cake, orange cake, and chocolate man, all priced at 125 yen each. The names of the products are simple and easy to understand. The owner was very humble and apologized for the wait. I tried the lemon cake first, it had a nice lemony sourness followed by a sweet taste. It reminded me of old-fashioned sweets. The orange cake had a strong orange flavor, similar to the lemon cake but more moist and easy to eat. The chocolate man was quite sweet, but it brought back memories of the sweets from my childhood. Overall, I hope this shop does well as there are surely many people who crave nostalgic sweets like these. Thank you, Eikado, for the delicious treats!

"Eikado" in Obihiro, Hokkaido, is a traditional cake shop that is not as well-known as Rokkatei or Yaezakura when searching for traditional Japanese sweets shops in Obihiro. I was hoping to find some daifuku there. Upon arriving at the shop, I was greeted by a kind-looking old man. I asked if they had cream puffs, to which he replied that they were currently being made. So, I ordered two fresh eclairs instead. The old man chuckled and mentioned that they were actually samples. I felt a bit deceived but ended up buying two orange cakes. Although they did not exceed my expectations, the sponge cakes with orange peel were enjoyable. It made me think of standing in front of a pharmacy with my wife, both enjoying the treat. It was a simple yet satisfying experience. The old man mentioned that his wife needed assistance, which made me realize the challenges they must be facing. Despite the situation, the cakes were delicious. Keep up the good work, old man.

On this day, my homemade bento was super healthy... or should I say, lazy? (^^;) This definitely means my stomach will be rumbling in the evening, so at 3 o'clock, I went to Nagikado to buy a snack. If I resist this, I should lose weight, right? (^^;) This shop is an old-fashioned cake shop. The products have a nostalgic feel in a good way. A friend who had lunch with me before mentioned that when they came to buy, people from a welfare facility or something similar seemed to be buying... and it's true, the retro cakes might bring back memories for the elderly. Now, time for a snack at 3 o'clock! I bought a Tokachi Blanc 50g (yogurt flavor) for 180 yen, a Tokachi Blanc 50g (hascup flavor) for 180 yen, a Swan for 200 yen, and a Lemon Cake for 100 yen. Isn't that too much? (^^;) If there are leftovers, I'll just take them home, so it's fine, right? Who am I making excuses to... (laughs) Lemon cake, how many generations don't know about it? Swan: Topped with powdered sugar for decoration after ordering. Custard 1: Cream 2 ratio maybe. The cream has a refreshing taste, somewhat yogurt-like? (my opinion) I always eat the head part first (laughs). Tokachi Blanc: It came out frozen. At 3 o'clock, it was still half frozen. It has a crunchy texture, with a taste like rich yogurt, sweet but with some acidity. The hascup flavor was completely melted by the next day. This one has a taste more like hascup jam, not so much acidity, and I might prefer the melted texture. The lemon cake has the familiar look. Coated and with lemon peel inside maybe... Quite moist and delicious. I remember the lemon cakes I ate in the past made my mouth dry, but this one is fine! There is a note on top of the showcase saying that sometimes the wife needs assistance, so they may not come out immediately. Take care and do your best! Thank you for the meal~

I visited a Western confectionery shop, Eikado, that I had been curious about because I often passed by. On the day of my visit, I had decided in my heart to buy a cake at Eikado, and I hurried to get there after work, just in time before the 7:00 PM closing time. The shop has an old-fashioned atmosphere, with a variety of souvenir confectionery assortments, cakes, and swan cream puffs displayed in the case, as well as individually sold baked goods on top of the case. There were also colorful animal-shaped cookies that looked like they would make children happy. Due to it being close to closing time, the variety of cakes I was looking for was limited. As far as I can remember, there were about 2-3 types of chocolate cakes, rare cheesecake, apple pie, and cream puffs, each priced around 180-200 yen. I purchased a chocolate cake and a rare cheesecake. When I asked the shop owner, I found out that the shop was established on Valentine's Day in 1984. The friendly shop owner kindly answered my questions. I also noticed a sign mentioning that they may not be able to serve immediately due to assisting his wife. When I got home, I found that there was a strawberry on top of the chocolate cake, which was a pleasant surprise. The chocolate cake had a moist chocolate sponge with chocolate cream, while the rare cheesecake had layers of rare cheesecake and sponge. Although they weren't flashy or punchy in appearance or taste, I thought to myself, "Hmm, this is delicious." The cakes were easy to buy as they were placed in a paper bag since I only bought two. I thought it would also be convenient to buy just one. Next time, I want to try their baked goods.

The "Tokachi Blanc" yogurt from Eikado is a unique and evolved version of regular yogurt. It has a refreshing and rich flavor that perfectly captures the essence of Tokachi. Once you try it, you'll likely want to order more. Many visitors to Tokachi make sure to buy it before leaving. Give it a try! Business hours are from 9:00 to 19:00, closed on Sundays. Parking is available for 6 cars.

Established in 1984, this confectionery shop is easily recognizable with its large sign on the main street and corner location in a residential area. While they offer both Japanese and Western sweets, their cheesecakes and chocolate cakes have a strong following. They have maintained a consistent taste over the years by sticking to high-quality ingredients such as eggs. One popular item is their swan-shaped cream puffs filled with delicious custard cream, loved for both taste and presentation. Prices are reasonable, typical of Obihiro. A friend from Kanagawa was so impressed by the affordability and taste that they bought a large quantity to bring back home on the plane!
