As someone who has been on a diet for years, I rarely eat daifuku, but I recently indulged in some. I had walnut daifuku and bean mochi, and they were delicious! Japanese people really know their rice. The mochi was so good, with powder flying everywhere as I ate it on a bench in the park.

Sometimes when I feel like eating Japanese sweets, I come here. I was looking for mitarashi dango, but they were sold out because it was late in the evening... They were also out of daifuku with white bean paste. So I ended up buying bekko mochi and sesame dango. The soft and chewy slightly sweet mochi is delicious. There are various types of daifuku, but personally, I find them too sweet. I prefer the simple ones where I can truly taste the mochi.

When I went in search of castella, I also found some delicious-looking dango...lol - Nanago store limited edition Mitarashi Kurumi Amame Torori Mitarashi and Kurumi, with a little bit of anko inside, giving a subtle sweetness impression (it took me a while to find the anko lol). The Mitarashi was on the sweeter side, so it was a bit hidden. When I saw the Kurumi, it looked delicious, but when I tried it, it was a bit of a distraction. - Odango (soy sauce, zunda) The soy sauce dango was less sweet as expected. It had a salty taste compared to the Mitarashi Kurumi, but it felt somewhat similar. The zunda had a good balance of sweetness and texture. Even though it was late, the dango was soft and delicious. A young confectioner, Kenji Kawaguchi, who holds a national qualification as a first-class traditional Japanese sweets maker, has developed a new type of castella cake called "Hokkaido Kasutora". Known for their popular dango and daifuku sweets, today I came specifically for the Kasutora. Hokkaido Kasutora comes in four varieties: Plain (550 yen), Cream (600 yen), An Butter (650 yen), and Strawberry (750 yen). Made with locally sourced ingredients such as wheat, butter, dairy products, and eggs, this specialty sweet treat uses the best butter from Betsukai-cho, the leading dairy town in Japan, resulting in a deliciously moist and subtly sweet cake that is sure to become a favorite. I purchased the An Butter and Strawberry flavors this time. The cake itself is more like a fluffy souffle cake than a traditional castella, with a soft and moist texture. The Strawberry flavor comes with four pieces of strawberries and a light cream filling, creating a luxurious castella. The An Butter flavor stands out with its rich and soft buttery taste at room temperature, complementing the slightly less sweet red bean paste. While driving on Nango Street, my companion suddenly wanted to eat daifuku from Daifukudo. Although I usually don't pay much attention to such requests, this time I decided to stop by since I knew of this branch but had never been inside before. As soon as we entered the store, we spotted a special white manju with a face of a long-tailed tit attached to it, being sold as a discounted item due to its irregular shape and discoloration - 2 for 281 yen! With some red bean treats in mind, I opted for the Tamba black bean mochi without red bean filling, which I absolutely love. In addition, I also purchased soy sauce dango and castella, making it a total of 4 items. The castella from Daifukudo was new to me, and it seemed to have a slightly stronger taste of mirin, which was interesting. Overall, I enjoyed the treats and would definitely consider visiting another branch of this store in the future. Thank you to the Nango 8-chome branch of Daifukudo for the delicious snacks!

I have always loved mochi, and recently I have been enjoying the mochi from this place. With New Year's approaching, I must visit the factory store in Tsukisamu soon. This time, I bought some strawberry daifuku as a gift, which looks festive with its red and white colors. The red bean paste and white bean paste filling complement the big strawberry perfectly. I love Daifukudo, but today, my daughter and I each had a Shine Muscat Daifuku and a Chestnut Daifuku. My husband, on the other hand, struggled to choose and ended up with a Black Bean Dorayaki. When asked why he chose it, he said it contained three things he liked: black beans, daifuku, and layers. He likes mille-feuille and Baumkuchen, so the layers appealed to him. Dorayaki is also layered, so it made sense. The Shine Muscat Daifuku was juicy and paired well with the white bean paste. The daifuku was light and not too heavy. The Chestnut Daifuku had a whole chestnut with skin on, wrapped in black sugar-colored daifuku, with white sesame sprinkled on top. It had a chestnut shape and was delicious. Suddenly, I noticed my husband looking puzzled. When asked what was wrong, he handed me the Dorayaki and told me to try it. I took a bite and realized it was difficult to eat because the dorayaki was crumbly and the daifuku was chewy, making it hard to swallow. The dorayaki skin also stuck to the daifuku, making it unappetizing. I learned that just because two things have the same filling, doesn't mean they should be combined. Despite being a favorite restaurant, today was disappointing. Feeling sorry for my husband, I shared my Chestnut and Shine Muscat Daifuku with him.

Amazake Daifuku Amaou Strawberry Daifuku Limited time only, the Amaou Strawberry Daifuku combines the perfect sweetness and acidity with the red bean paste. It is very delicious. I feel like I could eat as many as I want. Two pieces are not enough, to be honest.

I ended up buying Ohagi and Strawberry Daifuku. The large strawberries caught my eye. As a strawberry lover, I couldn't resist. The balance of sweetness from the red bean paste and the acidity from the strawberries is exquisite. I try various strawberry daifuku from different places, but I always come back to this one. I went to Ichikyu for the first time in a while and bought a lot of autumn rice cakes (*´艸`*) Shine Muscat Daifuku, with white bean paste inside. Shine Muscat is delicious (*^^*) It pops in your mouth. Baked Sweet Potato Daifuku, I love baked sweet potatoes. It has plenty of sweet potato paste that tastes just like baked sweet potatoes inside, and it's delicious ♡ When I bought over 800 yen, they gave me one Daifuku for free (^▽^)/ I wonder if I can finish them all? I had about 400 points, so it was good that it was almost half price (^_^)

My birthday month is June, so I came here to use my 200 points as an excuse to indulge in some delicious treats. The mochi here is soft and tasty! When I want to savor the mochi, I usually go for the simple "Tamba Mame-tsuki Mochi" (mochi with black beans, no sweet red bean paste). Depending on my mood, I also like to try seasonal items like daifuku (with white bean paste) or An-mitaku kurumi dango (sweet rice dumplings with red bean paste and topped with walnuts). Today, I tried the orange daifuku! The fruit daifuku is juicy and delicious with the fruit juice oozing out. I also bought mitarashi dango, mame daifuku (with smooth red bean paste), and seasonal skewered warabi mochi with kinako and yomogi powder in two colors, which looked beautiful. Everything tasted delicious, so I had no complaints. I would love to try their ice cream when it gets hot. Since the 9th, 19th, and 29th are point-up days, I will definitely come back to use my points again. I want to visit at least once a month to try their seasonal fruit daifuku and other tempting treats.

Hinamatsuri is coming up soon, so I decided to enjoy some traditional Japanese sweets this week (I made that decision myself haha). First, I indulged in a large strawberry daifuku. It was really delicious. The combination of sweet red bean paste, strawberry, and soft mochi was perfect. I crave it every two months. I always come up with excuses to buy it again and again. Of course, I also bought the usual kuzumochi bars with strawberry and peach. But when I brought them home, they were immediately discovered at the entrance and taken by my daughter haha. These kuzumochi bars are irresistible. I'll definitely come back around Children's Day and buy a bunch. Both the kuzumochi bars and strawberry daifuku are so delicious!٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

My husband's friend is sick, so I bought some skewered dumplings as a gift. But honestly, I just wanted to get my hands on their strawberry daifuku. I chose condensed milk strawberry daifuku for my daughter, regular strawberry daifuku for myself, and walnut daifuku and anko mixed with walnut dumplings for my husband. I saw something new called "anko mixed with walnut dumplings" for the first time. It's a dumpling filled with sweet bean paste and covered in a sauce made of soy sauce and walnuts. I also found something else I wanted to try – a mochi bar called "Kuzu Mochi Bar." It's so delicious that I want everyone to try it if they see it somewhere. They also sell it as "Kuzu Mochi Ice Cream" in some places. It's not like regular sherbet – it has a chewy texture because it contains kuzu. It's delicious whether it's frozen or starting to melt. It's a unique texture. I got strawberry for my daughter and peach for myself. The strawberry daifuku had a large, sweet strawberry which balanced well with the red bean paste. The anko mixed with walnut dumplings was quite sweet, so one was enough to satisfy me. Okay, I need to stop with the sweets now haha. I'll enjoy the Kuzu Mochi Ice Cream after my bath. I'm really looking forward to it!

On my way home from my first visit, I stopped by Mochi Dokoro Ikkyu Daifukudo Sapporo Minamisato 8-chome store to buy souvenirs. Since the sign of the store says "Mochi Dokoro," I ordered Ohagi and three types of Daifuku. The Ohagi with smooth red bean paste was very sweet and comforting. The sweetness was quite strong and delicious. The Walnut Daifuku had a subtle walnut flavor, which was very tasty. The Yomogi Daifuku with coarse red bean paste was delicious in a traditional way. The White Bean Daifuku had a refined taste. Both the Ohagi and Daifuku were delicious. The prices were also reasonable. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

This is a place in Shiroishi-ku, located along Nango-dori in the 8th block north of Nango-dori. It is recommended to check the exact location on the map on the food review website. I recently visited a mochi specialty shop for a "strawberry daifuku" after it was sold out at a wagashi shop. When I arrived at the shop and parked in the front parking lot, I saw a sign for "Amaou strawberry daifuku". Inside the shop, I found four different types of "strawberry daifuku" and decided to order one of each. After paying, I received the products and went home to try the "Amaou strawberry daifuku". The strawberries were very sweet and ripe, and when combined with the moderately sweet red bean paste and soft mochi, it created a delicious balance of flavors. Although the "Amaou strawberry daifuku" was a bit more expensive than regular daifuku, it was a satisfying traditional Japanese sweet at a reasonable price compared to Western cakes.
