陶酔
Sapporo's lunch spot is perfect if you want to enjoy something delicious to drink and eat lightly. It's located in a very inconvenient location, with the nearest subway or streetcar station being a 15-minute walk away. It's around 1500 yen by taxi from Susukino. So, how about taking a taxi to go eat some takoyaki? If you don't mind the distance, go ahead. You can call Uber for a hassle-free ride back. Walking in the snow may be a bit challenging, but for food lovers, that's not a big deal. You can check out the menu on Facebook or other platforms. Here are some key points that I think are unique about this place:
- The wine list is excellent, better than your average French or Italian restaurant. While they don't have wines that cost thousands of yen, they offer a great selection. This is the most important point for wine lovers.
- The restaurant has only 5 or 6 seats at the counter, and it's run by one person. It's not very fancy, so the service has its limits. The chef is friendly, but when it gets busy, there are limitations.
- The seating area feels drafty, and you may have to eat with your coat on during this season. The restroom is also quite inconvenient. If these things bother you, you may not enjoy your experience here.
- The dishes are delicately delicious, not the bold and straightforward type. If you're looking for B-grade gourmet, you might be disappointed.
- The ingredients used are of high quality, but the prices are reasonable. They even have takoyaki with yamadori (local porcini mushrooms). The yakisoba noodles are thick and chewy, and you get a generous portion of 200g. Ask about other dishes available.
- They also have a variety of appetizers. Would you believe they have bear paw shumai!? Enjoying a bottle of wine with these snacks can be a delightful experience. But drinking a whole bottle during lunch may not be ideal for work afterward.
- The chef uses a beautiful copper plate to cook, but the maintenance is said to be quite challenging. He will probably move on to open his own restaurant eventually, so make sure to enjoy this rare gem while you can.
(Note: Alcohol is not served during the current restrictions. The prices mentioned are only for takoyaki, mushroom dish, and yakisoba. Takoyaki alone won't fill you up. If you add wine, the total cost can range from a few thousand yen to 20,000 yen. The bearded man on Facebook is not always at the restaurant, so don't worry. Since the chef manages everything alone, there may be times when he's temporarily absent, so don't get upset if it's closed. Bringing your own wine is allowed, but having a long party here may not be very mature. But it might happen... The evaluation is based on the perspective of a takoyaki shop.)
