Otaru has recently seen an increase in curry restaurants, which makes curry lovers like me happy. I visited an Indian restaurant that opened on the sushi street in the evening. There was one group of foreign customers and one group of Japanese customers. This place offers all-you-can-eat curry, naan, rice, and other side dishes, totaling 11 items for 2160 yen including tax. The buffet area had saffron rice, two types of salad, and three types of curry - chicken, mixed seafood, and a vegetable curry. I was a bit surprised that there weren't more options, but then they brought freshly cooked chicken and naan to our table. The curries were all smooth and not too spicy, lacking distinct flavors or spiciness. They were easy to eat, but maybe a bit bland. However, the separate plate of meat was quite delicious. I think the concept of an all-you-can-eat curry restaurant is interesting, so I hope they continue to improve. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a newly opened Indian restaurant called "Tandoor" on the 3rd of this month. The restaurant is located next to "No Name" on the sushi street. They offer a lunch buffet for 1,500 yen and an all-you-can-eat dinner for 2,000 yen (both excluding tax). The owner and kitchen staff are from India, while the servers are elderly ladies. The lunch buffet includes three daily curry dishes and two salads, all you can eat with no time limit. The curry dishes were fish, vegetables, and minced meat on the day I visited. The fish curry had herring and red tilefish, which made it a bit difficult to eat due to the bones. The curry was mild and easy to eat. The minced meat curry was also flavorful and suitable for Japanese tastes. The soup contained beaten eggs, corn, and some meat, but the taste was unfamiliar. The naan bread was recommended by the server, but it was thin and easy to eat. I ended up taking more than half of the food home as I was already full. The restaurant seemed quiet, perhaps because it had just opened. They mentioned plans to display the daily curry dishes outside to attract more customers. I hope they succeed in the future.

The spinach chicken curry was very delicious! The Indian tempura (forgot the name) had pickled vegetables, I think... It had a slight taste that I didn't really like. Overall, it seemed to have a bit of acidity? It was hot inside without air conditioning, but it's a halal restaurant!
