First of all, the hurdle to enter the restaurant is quite high, and the entrance is not easy to find. Upon arriving at the first-floor entrance, I had to tell the hotel staff my destination and take the elevator to the 18th floor. After that, I had to switch elevators to reach the 45th floor! This restaurant faces east, offering views of the Tokyo Skytree, Shinjuku Gyoen, National Stadium, Akasaka Imperial Estate, and the Hills... In the distance, you can see just the top of Tokyo Tower and countless planes taking off and landing at Haneda Airport. At night, the views are even more beautiful with the lights. However, since it faces east, unfortunately, you can't see Mount Fuji. It might be visible from a restaurant on the opposite side. You can see Shinjuku Station as well, which would delight any train enthusiast!
While waiting for my companion, I had some spare time and was allowed to take a peek into the restaurant! Wow! There’s Shinjuku Station! The tracks are all visible! (I also have photos!) I entered at 5 PM and had to wait a significant amount of time due to my companion’s schedule, but I enjoyed the changing views of Shinjuku from evening to night! We lingered until after 9 PM, and it felt like we were there for nearly four hours… I think it was the fantastic view and the wonderful service from the staff that made it so enjoyable. I didn't get bored at all! Thank you!
Well, I suppose it’s the location fee? It cost us 33,000 yen for two people… This included six drinks and food as well, but I found the following:
1. A selection of seven premium dried fruits - 1,800 yen: The presentation was amazing, but I wished there was a bit more…
2. Prosciutto and avocado salad - 2,600 yen: As expected! They had pre-portioned it for two people! Plus, they neatly divided the lettuce and other greens for easier eating.
3. Spicy fried chicken and French fries basket - 2,800 yen: It wasn’t bad, but just ordinary? There was a lot of fries…
4. Domestic beef sirloin steak sandwich - 7,500 yen: This wasn't just steak in bread; the exquisite sauce kept the tender wagyu perfectly contained, making for a blissful moment! So delicious! However, there seemed to be too many fries… It felt like they were serving extras.
5. Crème brûlée with vanilla ice cream - 2,200 yen: I couldn’t try it as my companion ate it, but perhaps due to eating too many fries, they left some…
6. Homemade ice cream (two scoops) - 1,600 yen: The dish presentation was lovely! The ice cream… well, Haagen-Dazs might taste better? This is just my personal opinion!
Nonetheless, it was a moment that made me forget the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. I highly recommend this place for a special person or anyone looking to refresh their spirits. Additionally, it would be nice if the menu had a bit more variety? Perhaps I could just go to the restaurant next door then? That’s a dilemma…
Until now, I had mostly dined at skyscraper restaurants in the west exit of Shinjuku, which was a good ten-minute walk away. However, this place is closer and right in front of Seibu Shinjuku Station, making it more convenient. If I have the chance, I would like to stop by again. Thank you for the long and wonderful time!
