Tokyu Sapporo store's depachika, located on the way back after purchasing bento and side dishes, always seems to pull me in like a magnet. They also manage a restaurant called "Fumioya KADO" in Susukino, known for its wide variety of pickled vegetables. My go-to purchase is the 200g Okra Asazuke! Although there are many other delicious pickles available, I tend to make a few select choices on my way back home with various side dishes. When I serve it for dinner at home, my daughters' voices fill the room with excitement, and the toothpicks in my hand disappear one after another (which makes me happy). The lightly pickled texture and the perfect amount of saltiness are simply delicious. The fresh texture and slight sliminess are irresistible. Most of it is consumed on the first day, and any leftovers are quickly finished the next day, lasting no more than 3 days. While salted herring or nukazuke pickles can last for quite a few days, this one doesn't. It was delicious as always! Thank you for the meal~♪

I visited the pickles shop "Fumiya" in the basement of Tokyu Department Store. I really love pickles and often make quick pickles like pickled radish myself. I was torn between all the delicious options like napa cabbage and daikon. The staff kindly let me try different pickles, and I ended up getting the "nukazuke set" for 648 yen. I actually wish I had the time to take care of a nukadoko myself, but I don't have the confidence to do it. I had it for dinner and it included turnips, carrots, daikon, and cucumbers. The crispy texture and mild flavor were perfect. While aged pickles are good, I personally think that shallow pickles that only take a day or so are the best. As a pickle lover, I tend to avoid overly salty ones, so this level of saltiness is ideal. It's a great way to enjoy tasty vegetables and get some probiotics. I'll definitely go back to try more varieties. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On a certain holiday, I stopped by a pickle shop in the food section of Tokyu Department Store on my way home to buy dinner. The store had the usual pickles as well as a pickled radish and pickled plum corner that caught my attention. From the menu that day, I got excited by the refrigerated pickles from Motoi, so I tried the "pickled herring (500 yen tax included)" and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The staff told me it was freshly pickled, so the fresh cabbage, radish, finely shredded carrots, and herring had a good balance without too much acidity. The saltiness was just right, and the hint of spiciness from the red pepper added a nice touch. I also tried the "small eggplant 100g (300 yen tax included)" which were small bite-sized eggplants pickled lightly with a slightly sweet and tangy flavor, full of umami. Lastly, I tried the "pickled plum (500 yen tax included)" which was salty with a hint of honey, as indicated by the label. It didn't taste much like honey, but it seemed like it would be a good filling for rice balls. Although I ended up spending over 1400 yen in total, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the pickled herring after a long time. Thank you for the meal.

I used to hate pickles, especially pickled daikon radish. Just the smell of it made me nauseous. It never appeared on my dining table. Back when I was a student, I used to frequent a restaurant called Miyoshino. Everyone knew about my aversion to pickles, so no one ever dared to serve me pickles. But one day, someone new at the restaurant served me a gyoza set meal with pickles on the side. Before I even saw it, I could tell from the smell that I was in trouble. I don't remember much after that, but I heard in court that I apparently put that person in a critical condition. In the end, I was acquitted due to my condition of losing sanity within a 1-meter radius of pickles being recognized as a mental disorder. This incident happened in Sapporo. Recently, I visited Tokyu, which had been renovated. I was there to buy juice, but ended up buying a bento box. There was a pickles shop in the area, and surprisingly, I found myself able to eat pickles now. It wasn't the intense pickling kind, more like a salad. I bought some "pickled napa cabbage" from a friendly lady at the shop. It was a bit pricey, around 1000 yen, but considering the high cost of vegetables, it was understandable. The pickles weren't too sour or salty, just right for a light snack. They would probably go well with a hot watered-down shochu. It was a delicious pickle. If I come across it again, I'll definitely buy it.
