Tonight's accommodation was a family-run inn called Saroma Nian located by Lake Saroma. We originally planned to stay at a famous inn known for its amazing meals called "Captain's House," but it was fully booked. We also considered staying at a Youth Hostel, but heard it was quite run-down. However, we received a recommendation from guests in Rebun Island who praised Saroma Nian for its delicious food, so we made a reservation. The rate was 5700 yen per adult for one night with two meals included, with a 1000 yen discount for elementary school students and a 2000 yen rate for preschoolers. The inn seemed popular among bikers, and children could stay in private rooms. We were lucky to receive 2000 yen in product vouchers per person as part of a campaign in Saroma Town, totaling 6000 yen for our family of three. This voucher was not applicable at Captain's House in Rumoi Town, so we were glad we chose to stay here. Breakfast was served from 7:30 am. The breakfast menu included delicious rice and cute fried eggs shaped like Hokkaido. The rice was particularly tasty, and I ended up having a second helping.

The guests seemed to be mostly motorcyclists. Children can use private rooms if available. Dinner was served for everyone at 7 p.m., starting with scallop sashimi, followed by a soup, grilled dishes, and side dishes all featuring scallops. The homey atmosphere and well-balanced flavors made the meal enjoyable. The portion size was just right, not too much. Considering the price of 5700 yen for two meals, it felt like a great deal. The grilled cherry salmon, in particular, was very delicious. The children decided to share the same menu item between the two of them. I noticed that the chopstick rests were shaped like curling stones, a fitting touch for a town known for curling.

Visited on September 21, 2018. Originally planned to visit "Captain's House" where you can enjoy crab to your heart's content, but it was fully booked every day. I searched again and found Saromanian. It was a great decision! From the initial inquiry stage, the landlady gave advice on transportation, weather, and climate, allowing us to revise our travel plans with peace of mind. The inn was much more spacious and beautiful than I had seen online. The owner, landlady, and helper were all very friendly and lovely people. There is an indoor bath, but if you wish, the owner will drive you to a nearby hotel's open-air bath. The food was amazing! Very delicious. The rice was so good that I ended up having seconds. There is also a beautiful bar counter, adding a stylish touch. Even visiting as a couple creates a romantic atmosphere. After dinner, there is a night drinking party with a voluntary contribution system for those interested. Enjoy chatting and getting lightly drunk with shochu, white wine, and original coffee shochu. The breakfast the next morning was a hearty grilled saury set meal. And they send you off so grandly that you feel sad to leave. I will definitely visit again! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and the opportunity to chat with other guests make this inn highly recommended.
