Everyone in Hokkaido can sing this song. ♪ Famous for the old man skiing, it's Senkyuan. I had one hour until departure time, so I was wandering around wanting to eat some sweets. That's when I found this. Strawberry and red bean paste parfait. I'm not a fan of matcha sweets, so I decided on this one. It has strawberries, red bean paste, whipped cream, and various other ingredients. What surprised me even more was the price! Parfaits these days are in the 1000 yen range and are becoming less of a casual treat. But this one was only 780 yen! A surprising price. This made me happy. Parfaits used to be around this price, right? I've been thinking that they keep getting more expensive as they focus on being Instagrammable, so I was happy about this. It had a good amount of volume and tasted delicious. I also ordered green tea, which came in a cup with the old man skiing design. So cute! I want that cup haha. They also had pancake sets for 500 yen with a drink included, and the dorayaki looked delicious too. There were seasonal limited items as well. The strawberry daifuku wasn't available every day, and they only had 10 limited pieces. Luckily, they had 4 that day, so I bought 2 to take home. When I ate them later, I was pleasantly surprised! They were chewy and smooth, exactly my type of daifuku. I hope they have them next time I go. I definitely want to eat them again. Everything was delicious! Thank you for the meal~!

Hakobiba, a commercial facility located next to Hakodate Station, is a tourist spot that reproduces a Showa retro townscape. It offers a variety of dining options, from izakayas to sweets, and its convenient location makes it a must-visit for first-time visitors. A familiar spot for locals, Chishuian is also located here, where you can enjoy parfaits and more. While many people seem to enjoy the unique dorayaki available here, if you're short on time, consider getting the Takarai Manju as a souvenir. Priced at 100 yen each, these small manju are made with a flavorful red bean paste and wrapped in a rich, Okinawan black sugar dough. They are made by skilled artisans without any preservatives. I later found out that these are not available at Sapporo Chishuian. They can be purchased online, but they make a great souvenir from Hakodate. Apologies for the lack of photos.

This is a review of Senshu-an Karyo HakoBiba store located in front of Hakodate Station. I tried their limited-time breakfast menu, which is a pancake made with dorayaki dough. It was incredibly delicious as it was freshly baked. I chose iced coffee as my drink, and it was also very tasty.

I visited Senkyuan near Hakodate Station around 10:30 in the morning. The Senkyuan in Sapporo and Hakodate have different management, so some of the products with the same name are slightly different. There are many products in Hakodate that are not available in Sapporo. The dorayaki and tea set is around 500 yen, which I think is quite cost-effective. The roasted green tea comes in a generous amount (about 4 cups worth). The dorayaki is made in-store, with a gentle sweetness and a fresh taste to the dough. The limited edition apple flavor adds a nice touch. The store is quite small, so you may not be able to relax too much inside.

After having lunch and taking a stroll around Hakodate Station, I stopped by HakoBiba for a rest before the night view tour. They are famous for their sweet treats, and I tried a dessert with cream sandwiched between two dorayaki pancakes (I forgot the name). It was absolutely delicious! Not too sweet, just the right amount of flavor. Thank you for the meal.

A little time has passed... I'm in Hakodate during cherry blossom season, at the izakaya "Hakobiba" in the middle of work. I had a drink early and now I'm looking for a snack to enjoy on the train ride home. I bought a "Fluffy Fresh Dorayaki (Matcha) @250 yen (tax included)" from "Senshuan Karoryo". It's a dorayaki where the skin is freshly baked and the red bean paste is filled on the spot and handed to you in a paper wrapper. It seems a bit smaller than the usual dorayaki sold in plastic packaging. I'm going to try it right away on the train. When I open it, it looks like a beautiful bivalve shell (see photo). I take a bite, slightly squishing it... The freshly baked dorayaki skin is slightly warm, and the whipped matcha cream and mildly sweet red bean paste create an exquisite contrast. I've never had a freshly made dorayaki before, but this is like a Japanese-style pancake that you can hold in your hand and it tastes delicious. There are four flavors available – matcha, red bean, strawberry, and chestnut. Next time, I think I'll try the chestnut flavor. If you ever go to Hakodate, you definitely have to try it. By the way, there is also a seating area inside the store, so you can take a little break during your sightseeing. Thank you for the meal.

This is Chishuian, a new spot in Hakobiba in Hakodate. They have an eat-in space and offer unique financiers and fresh dorayaki that you can't find in other stores. They also sell Chishuian goods, but I feel like the squirrel on the apple products would be more popular than the tote bag made by Yamapapa.

I went to the new shop at Senshuan. It is located inside a commercial facility called Hakobiba in front of the station. It is designed to resemble a Showa-era street next to the station. It was crowded as it just opened. Senshuan's dorayaki is incredibly delicious, so I was a bit skeptical about the freshly baked skin dorayaki they were selling. Although there is a cafe section, they only offer cafe menu items. I had matcha and wagashi at the cafe, but the freshly baked dorayaki is for takeout only. However, I think it would be fine for cafe customers to eat it there. You can choose from 6 types of wagashi, as Senshuan apparently makes 6 types of wagashi every month. I had the "Kantsubaki" nerikiri, which was beautiful. I ate the takeout dorayaki in a small rest area. The skin felt slightly smaller than usual, and although it was delicious, I still prefer the normal dorayaki where I can smell the skin while taking a big bite. The price of dorayaki will increase from 205 yen to 220 yen starting December 1st, which is understandable. Please continue to maintain that richness. If it's not too crowded, I think it would be enjoyable to watch the artisans bake the skin.

I bought souvenirs for a friend and myself. I chose "Mont Blanc" for myself. Mont Blanc uses chestnuts from Italy, which gives it a great flavor. The creamy taste of butter mixed with the chestnut flavor is delicious.

Seasonal apple parfait is available for a limited time. It includes candied apples inside, which pairs well with the sweet red bean paste and crushed rice crackers on top. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next limited parfait will be.

Hakodate food walk. Mont Blanc dorayaki and roasted green tea for 450 yen, Shiratama Anmitsu for 650 yen. The shop is small but cozy, and the roasted green tea is very delicious. The dorayaki skin is chewy and not too sweet, which was nice. Until 11:30, there is a set with pancakes (with red bean paste) and coffee or tea for 500 yen. Since the dorayaki was delicious, I think the pancakes would be too. I would recommend this shop to my friends.
