Wandering new curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solitary middle-aged man. This is a memo-like review by the old man. If you are looking for concise information about the restaurant and food, please move on to other people's reviews around here. The other day, I had the opportunity to try the "Kalbi Don" (mixed beef and pork) and got a little excited. I was in the mood for a meat bowl. Before coming here, I had a "Hayashi Rice" in a women's size, so I felt a bit full. Hmm, what should I do... Oh well, if you're hesitating, just go for it. The location is in Chuo Ward, Minami 2-jo Nishi 5-chome. In the middle of the Tanukikoji 5-chome block (north side). On the first floor of the building where the movie theater "Satsugeki" is located (2nd floor). It's located in a corner of "HUG Eat Tanukikoji Yokocho". You can tell by the red lanterns surrounding the entrance to the alley. There are nine shops on one floor (one shop is closed?). Each shop is relatively small. This shop also had a small space with a kitchen and 5-6 counter seats. In the middle of the shops facing each other, there are several table seats. Think of it as a food court seating. Don't imagine a shopping mall. There aren't that many seats. By the way, there were acrylic partitions between the seats here. So, I ordered and sat at this seat. I entered at 12:45 pm (Thursday). There was one middle-aged man sitting at the counter inside the shop, and a senior couple at the table seat. There were no other customers. Perhaps because the lunchtime peak had passed. There were 2-3 people in other shops, and many shops were empty. The menu is displayed in pouches facing the aisle. Hmm, the pork bowl is over 900 yen including tax. They seem to be pushing the set with beer a lot. Okay, let's try the mix of belly and loin meat with regular rice. ▼C Pork Bowl Mix - Pork bowl with belly and loin meat, miso soup, pickles, tax included 990 yen. The pork bowl was served in about 5 minutes after ordering. Oh, it's here already. This bowl is smaller than expected for the price. The meat isn't that thick. It's the thickness of pork commonly sold. The rice was filled to the brim in the bowl. This time, it was my second lunch, so it was okay, but it's a light portion for normal consumption. I wonder if the size of the bowl changes with a large serving of rice. With normal servings, the rice was filled to the brim. For those who can eat a decent amount, it might be a good idea to check the size of the bowl before ordering. Okay, let's try it. Oh, it's tender. The belly meat is tender, and the loin meat is also tender. The loin meat has a slightly firmer texture than the belly meat. It was stated that the pork was from Hokkaido, but where exactly? When I lived alone, I used to buy Hokkaido loin meat at the supermarket and make pork bowls with store-bought sauce. Even with thin meat like this, it tends to become quite tough. Maybe marinating it in the sauce makes the meat tender. But I don't mind this thin meat. The taste of the sauce is to my liking. Not too salty, not too sweet. There's no strong flavor or smell in the pork either. The rice was just right, not too firm or too soft. The soy sauce-flavored "mountain wasabi" on top was an interesting accent. It doesn't sting too much, but it's noticeable. Including the powdered sansho pepper, it played a good role in changing the taste from the middle to the end. Hmm. If I had ordered a large serving of rice, it would have been 1,100 yen including tax. If I were really hungry, that would be enough to satisfy me, but it's a bit on the expensive side. Is this the pricing in this day and age?
