I stopped by at Bia & Pasta Shiodzu for lunch. The location is in Chuo-ku, Minami 1-jo Nishi 13-chome, across from Sapporo Minami 1-jo Hospital. Near the shop, there are other restaurants like Tempura Taketachi, Genghis Khan Hassen, and Ramen Sakuraka. The interior of the restaurant is somewhat dark, creating a beer restaurant atmosphere. The wooden tables and chairs also give a hint of a Japanese touch. The lunch menu consists of a "daily special set" limited to 30 servings, which includes rice, a main dish, today's miso soup, and 4 side dishes for 800 yen. It also comes with a drink, making it a good deal. On this day, the meal included thinly sliced pork stir-fry, miso soup (with green onions, mushrooms, and fried tofu), and side dishes (fried chicken, rolled omelette, butterbur, and boiled tofu skin). I was surprised by the generous portion of the main dish. Half of the plate was filled with pork, thinly sliced like for shabu-shabu but seasoned for grilling. Under the pork, there was a hidden portion of spaghetti. The miso soup was also filled with 3 kinds of ingredients (green onions, mushrooms, fried tofu). The drink served was hot coffee, which was a nice touch after the meal. The lunch at this restaurant is satisfying with good presentation and portion size. The ingredients and seasoning are close to home-cooked meals, making it perfect for when you're hungry. It would be nice if they offered a choice of 2-3 different menu options.
