I visited the Hokkaido Western restaurant, which has two locations in Sapporo. The food at Western is delicious, especially the side dishes. The all-you-can-eat side dishes alone are worth it. The gelato is also so good that it's worth paying extra for it (laughs). They offer a variety of beef barbecue options like kalbi, sagari, horumon, liver, and diced steak, as well as pork tongue, pork horumon, chicken, shrimp, and squid. They also have a wide selection of sushi, ramen, salad, and desserts. It's recommended to go with family as there are many young children, making it lively and fun.

The sushi with two types of salmon (raw and seared) is excellent! Of course, the meat dishes are also delicious, especially the Genghis Khan and the "Spanish loin belly meat." I never expected to be able to eat this kind of pork at this type of restaurant, so it was truly a surprise.

I don't have anyone I can call a friend, but I have one person I've been hanging out with since middle school. He is known as "Bald Uncle" and has appeared on Tabelog several times. So, after about six months or a year, I had an offline meeting with Bald Uncle. Where should we go? In the end, we ended up going to this place. It's not really a place for men in their 40s, but we decided to go there anyway. I think it was 2,480 yen? Was the drink bar 250 yen? Well, the menu is nothing special. The yakiniku is not that great, there's only pork tongue, and the sagari is nowhere near the quality in Kitami. Crab fried rice? Fried dumplings? Ankake yakisoba? Well, none of them are really delicious! Even the sushi is like Kozushi or worse than a 100 yen conveyor belt sushi place. The dessert is like something from a wholesale store. Despite all the negative things I've written, I still go there occasionally. I'm drawn to the all-you-can-eat sushi, yakiniku, small dishes, and dessert. Even though there's nothing special about it, I sometimes end up going there. I used to come here a lot in my 20s... The place hasn't changed at all... Reflecting on the past, I find it perfect for an old man's meetup (laughs).

I visited for lunch. I have been here many times before. This time, I ordered the "All-You-Can-Eat Course for Adults" and "Free Refills for Soft Drinks." There were various options besides meat, making it hard to decide what to eat. I had pork tongue, sagari tender, pork shoulder loin, salted pork belly, and pork soft bone. For dessert, I had vanilla, strawberry, and yuzu ice cream. I mainly focused on the meat. I might not have eaten as much as I thought. I would like to come back again. Thank you for the meal!

I felt like having the usual all-you-can-eat buffet, so I went to Western! Due to the impact of the coronavirus, it was really empty. It was almost like having the place to ourselves. Depending on the time, sushi was only available by order, which I thought was better than usual. However, each dish was served in smaller portions to reduce waste, but since there were only about 3 groups of customers during weekday lunchtime, dishes like fried chicken were a bit cold. I ended up grilling them along with the barbecue, which actually made them tastier than usual. 😄

I met up with an acquaintance, a bald middle-aged man, for a meal after a long time. Initially, we were planning to go for a Chinese all-you-can-eat buffet, but suddenly changed course to a Western buffet with all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink soft drinks for 2530 yen. The restaurant's capacity was reduced by half due to social distancing measures, causing a bit of a wait despite empty seats being available. We eventually got a table in a raised seating area. It was a bit of a hassle with disposable gloves being provided for each person and having to wear them when getting food. The quality of the food was mediocre, with sushi comparable to a 100 yen sushi chain and the grilled meat being of typical all-you-can-eat quality. The best item was the pork tongue, while the rest of the meat was subpar. The fried fish was surprisingly good, similar to British fish and chips. The fried chicken was decent, similar to what you would find at a supermarket. The dessert selection was the highlight, with large cakes cut into slices and a delicious sweet potato dessert. Overall, the restaurant seemed more suited for families and high school students looking to enjoy a monthly treat, offering a variety of mediocre dishes at a reasonable price. It may not be the best quality, but it provides a decent all-around dining experience at a low cost.

I visited on a late Friday night. It was my first time coming on a day other than Saturday or Sunday, and as soon as I arrived, I realized the sad truth... there was no apple pie! Half of the reason I come to Western is because I want to eat apple pie, but it wasn't available! And unfortunately, it was not restocked later on... The other pastries also weren't replenished after being eaten up... The variety kept decreasing. By the time I arrived after 8 pm on a weekday, I already knew there were no pastries left... Western's pastries are delicious and freshly baked, so everyone should try them! The other menu items were quickly restocked, and they were delicious as always. But I really wanted that apple pie... Thank you for the meal!

I was originally planning to go to a different ramen shop, but because everyone in my family was really hungry, we ended up deciding to go to Western for the all-you-can-eat option instead. And let me tell you, it was delicious! Western really has a high overall quality. Especially the bread! The apple pie in particular is so good that I wish they would just sell that alone. I love apple pie and have been to many apple pie specialty shops, but this one is definitely top tier. The buttery aroma, the amount of filling, the sweet and tangy flavor, it's all perfect! I would say I come to Western just for the apple pie (at least for me). All the other breads are delicious too. It's no wonder, considering it's from Tokachi. I always end up eating more bread than meat here. But because it's so popular, they often run out quickly. And because they bake them fresh, the replenishment can be slow. So it's best to grab some bread early if you see it available. Overall, it was delicious as always! Thank you for the meal!

I saw it on TV and wanted to go. Surprisingly, it was crowded on Sunday at 11 o'clock, but I was able to enter the parking lot, inside the store, smoothly. Maybe thanks to the TV effect? The store quickly filled up. All-you-can-eat for 2 hours for 2200 yen. Add soft drinks for an additional 200 yen. There is a wide variety of food, and it's reasonably delicious. I enjoyed various types of meat, mainly lamb and liver. The crab omelette was also delicious. The salads were tasty, and I enjoyed celery, which I hadn't had in a while. Pineapple and orange were also delicious, so I had seconds. The staff were polite, and the person who seemed to be the manager was efficient. I feel guilty about the low price. There is no end to discussing the quality of the food, but I think it is worth more than 2200 yen. The store is clean and well-organized, so it doesn't feel too crowded. It's great before payday! I want to go again.

【March 6, 2019 First Visit】Since the end of last year, I have been busy with preparations for moving my parents' house every time I had time off work. This included dealing with some troubles, working on the day before and the day of the move, and then cleaning up after the move. The exhaustion from all this finally faded away just in time for the start of work on March 4th. Although I didn't feel the excitement or busyness of starting work, I realized that on this day, March 6th, I was able to celebrate my 47th birthday. On this day, I was working on a project in Tomakomai city, and my wife messaged me asking how I wanted to celebrate my birthday. Since I would be staying overnight in Date city for work the next day, I thought about going to a nearby charcoal-grilled meat restaurant called Yuzantei, but unfortunately, it was closed. So I remembered a barbecue buffet restaurant called Western Kitago that I had passed by before. Although I hadn't been there for about 5-6 years, I remembered discussing with my wife if it was good and deciding to try it someday. The last time I had a buffet-style meal at a barbecue restaurant was about 15 years ago, so I decided to give it a try. The buffet menu at Western Kitago offers two options: all-you-can-eat (2,050 yen for adults) or all-you-can-eat and drink (3,240 yen for adults). Since my wife didn't drink alcohol and I wasn't planning to drink much either, we chose the all-you-can-eat option. I ordered two beers for myself (around 600 yen each) and my wife had unlimited refills of 11 types of soft drinks (around 210 yen). The quality of the barbecue buffet hasn't changed much over the years, but there were some tasty cuts of meat and the sushi made by a machine was decent. The ramen was better than the soft noodles I had in school, so I thought it catered well to families with children or groups of high school students.

The restaurant is always less crowded compared to places like Sutamina and Loin, perhaps because it's a bit pricier. However, the variety, quality, and taste of the meat, dishes, and desserts are on a different level. While it's understandable to prioritize affordability when dining with growing children, adults still want to enjoy delicious food. The meat, although imported, is satisfying in size and thickness. The dishes are familiar classics like spaghetti and crab omelet, which are comforting and tasty. There is also a wide variety of sushi available. The dessert selection is the best among all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurants, especially with a great variety of fruit-based desserts. It's delightful to see seasonal fruits like persimmons available. Despite eating them almost daily at home, I couldn't resist having some here!笑

The meat and dishes are plentiful and quite delicious. The meat is a bit tough as it is imported, but it's understandable for all-you-can-eat. There are various condiments so you won't get tired of the flavors. The desserts here are also plentiful and delicious. I especially love that they have seasonal fruits. I forgot to take pictures, so only the melon is shown in the photo, haha.

Um, returning to my old stomping ground, sushi, Chinese food, vegetables, sweets, and yakiniku, who said that? Eating too much is bad for your health, that's for sure. The voice of heaven really strikes a chord in a cat's heart. I feel like I've become more domesticated now. Here, vegetables and sushi are the main options. I don't eat much meat. Let's get back to the topic. This place is a yakiniku buffet, but the quality is not to be underestimated. There's sushi, mainly nigiri (though the rice can be a bit sweet), and a decent variety. The salad bar is well-stocked, but sometimes they struggle to replenish it when it runs out. There's also Chinese food like fried rice and fried chicken, which are popular with everyone. Besides yakiniku, you can also get full on desserts, as there are plenty of options. However, is 2,050 yen too expensive? It depends on the person. It might be worth it for those who have a big appetite. I personally stick to the vegetables and sushi-like options.

Western is a chain of yakiniku buffets with its main store in Obihiro, and it also has several branches in Sapporo. As someone from Obihiro, I occasionally crave this familiar restaurant. The branch I visited is located in the Kitago area of Shiroishi Ward, near the Sapporo Shin-Do and along Atsubetsu Street. The restaurant has both table and sunken kotatsu-style seating, with a bright and casual family restaurant atmosphere. I went for lunch on a Saturday, and although there were customers, it wasn't too crowded. The buffet-only option costs 2,050 yen, while the all-you-can-eat and drink option costs 3,240 yen. The variety of food available for the price is impressive, with higher quality side dishes compared to other buffet restaurants. I felt like I ate more than just meat. The lunch prices are reasonable, and it's a good choice when you want to eat a variety of dishes to your heart's content.

I often go there. Today, after my son's entrance ceremony, we decided to go for a celebratory drink. Normally, it shouldn't be too crowded, but probably due to the entrance ceremony, by the time we arrived after 5 o'clock, it was already full. If we had gone a little later, we would have had to wait quite a bit. Although it's mainly focused on yakiniku, it's a bit lacking, but other items make up for it, especially the desserts, which seem plentiful from what I could see. Overall, it's a buffet that caters to everyone. If yakiniku is your thing, it's a risky business but the variety in the buffet is quite extensive. It's not great, but not bad either. By the way, the main difference between the Obihiro store and other stores is whether soft drinks are included or not.

When I made a reservation over the phone, the staff's instructions were unclear and different depending on who I spoke to, which was frustrating. The regular buffet had a variety of meats, sushi, desserts, and was enjoyable. The Italian gelato with nuts flavor was incredibly delicious and unforgettable. The price, including all-you-can-drink, was around 2500 yen, making it affordable for us students. I would like to go back to eat there again!

On June 30, 2015, it was raining, and I visited a yakiniku buffet restaurant. The interior was spacious with raised seating areas. I went there right when it opened and sat at a table. They had gas grills with good ventilation. In addition to yakiniku, they also had salad, desserts, pasta, and sushi which needed to be ordered at the table. I went to choose some meat, but the options were limited to chicken, shrimp, and gizzards. The shrimp was small when grilled with the shell on, and I regretted ordering it. The gizzards were tender, but the chicken had some tough parts. I was happy to see celery sticks among the vegetable options. The pasta had a strange taste from the oil used and didn't have a good aftertaste. The sushi had thin slices, but the salmon roe was delicious. The best part was the soy sauce ramen, which I enjoyed the most. Overall, I didn't feel very satisfied with the limited food options at a yakiniku buffet, but the restaurant had good ventilation, a clean interior, and an easy-to-navigate food layout. The air conditioning was a bit too cold, especially on a rainy day like today. Thank you for the meal.
