Hakodate is a favorite city that I visit about once a month for work and leisure. I have been familiar with the city for a long time, and have tried various types of cuisine from seafood to Italian, French, and ramen at my favorite restaurants. However, during my recent visit, I came across a new Kyushu cuisine restaurant in the Goryokaku area. Although there are other restaurants that serve motsunabe and horse meat dishes, I thought it would be nice to experience the Kyushu atmosphere that is different from the usual Hakodate. I made a reservation for the next day and visited the restaurant. The restaurant had just opened and had a clean and pleasant atmosphere with a small counter and table seats. I ordered a draft beer to start off and toasted to a good meal. Eager to try Kyushu cuisine, I looked at the menu. I ordered the signature tebasaki (chicken wings) in two flavors - regular and sweet soy sauce, as well as a platter of my favorite horse sashimi. The tebasaki, with the skin crispy and the meat tender, was delicious. The sweet soy sauce flavor was unexpected but balanced well with the savory taste. The horse sashimi platter had different cuts that allowed me to savor the richness and sweetness of the meat without any gamey taste. It was truly a luxurious moment. I indulged in various appetizers and drinks, but unfortunately, I was too full to try the motsunabe, which was another highlight of the menu. I promised myself to try it next time and left the restaurant satisfied. The food was delicious, thank you for the wonderful meal.

We went with 4 people. We started with the regular flavored chicken wings. They were simple but decent, I'd like to try the sweeter sauce next time. The chicken nanban with extra tartar sauce was pretty good. The motsunabe had burdock and was light and tasty. Thank you for the meal.

When I went back to my hometown, I discovered a new restaurant that caught my interest, so I decided to give it a try. Normally, it's crowded and requires reservations, but I was able to enter smoothly on that day. The interior was clean and had a calm atmosphere. The menu featured a variety of Kyushu dishes, including their signature chicken wings, motsunabe (offal hot pot), and horse sashimi. They also offered rare options like Extra Cold beer and shochu selected by the Kyushu-born master, making the selection of food and drinks quite abundant. Everything was really delicious, and I was extremely satisfied!

I recently visited a new shop in front of the Central Hospital in Honcho for takeout. I tried calling a few times but couldn't get through, and when I finally did, they were too busy to take my order. The plain chicken wings were delicious, but the spicy ones were so hot that even I, who enjoys spicy food, found them difficult to eat without choking. Just a heads up!
