I suddenly had a craving for beans and luckily there was Ikeda Shokuhin nearby! I went there quickly during my free time. As expected, the staff member provided one-on-one service, very friendly and cheerful. However, I prefer not to be talked to when I'm looking at products (I'm socially awkward), so I silently wished they would leave me alone while I quickly bought the items I wanted. The product I bought was "Corn Cashew" from Ikeda Shokuhin, which I appreciate as a fan of corn and cashew nuts. The package is cute and it has a zipper, which is convenient. When I opened it, the aroma of corn was strong and the cashew nuts provided a nice crunch, giving the feeling of eating crunchy corn. I really like this snack. It's a bit pricey for beans, but since I've been staying indoors a lot, I thought it was worth it.

I stopped by the basement of Daimaru and did some shopping at "Ikeda Shokuhin." This company, based in Shiroishi Chuo, Sapporo, manufactures and sells bean snacks and karinto. I purchased the "Seafood Beans" and "Roasted Cashews," which were handed to me in a bag with a cute red demon character on it. I feel a sense of familiarity with this "red demon character" haha. I took them home to enjoy as a snack with some drinks. The "Seafood Beans" have a smoky aroma and a seafood-like flavor coating on the peanuts, with a crunchy texture that goes really well with beer. The "Roasted Cashews" are made with cashew nuts and have a slight spiciness with accents of salt and soy sauce that make it hard to stop eating. Although similar beans can be found in supermarkets, these are truly unique. They are not cheap, but they are incredibly delicious. I think I might get hooked on these. You definitely need toothpicks when eating them haha. I'm also curious about the karinto, so I might go back to buy some more. Thank you for the meal!

[February 2019] "Ikeda Shokuhin Daimaru Sapporo Store" is a local creative bean confectionery shop in Sapporo. Established in 1948, this year marks its 71st anniversary. On February 1, 2019, a new section for traditional Japanese sweets opened. This makes it the first time for all department stores in Sapporo to have an outlet. I visited for the first time with my usual companion. The store is located in the JR Sapporo Station area in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, on the basement floor of Daimaru Sapporo directly connected to JR Sapporo Station. For more detailed location information, please check on Tabelog. When I stopped by, I was offered a taste of bean confectionery by a very cute young lady. This very cute young lady is the daughter of the president of "Ikeda Shokuhin." She is usually in charge of planning at the company, but as it was a new opening, she was personally handling sales. I tried the cashew nuts. I tried the "Roasted Cashew" and "Wasabi Cashew." These cashew nuts are said to have been sourced by the young lady herself in India. They tasted good, so I decided to buy them. ■ Roasted Cashew In the past, on the TV show "Hamano Market," Miki Maya introduced a product of cashew nuts coated with cold plum and roasted with soy sauce, giving it a Japanese flavor. It has a slightly interesting taste. Price: 60g for 280 yen (tax included) ■ Wasabi Cashew Cashew nuts wrapped in a crispy coating. The coating contains spicy wasabi. The spicy flavor of wasabi is a nice touch. Price: 40g for 280 yen (tax included) This shop offers a variety of nostalgic and new flavors of beans to enjoy. "Roasted Cashew" is a good snack or light appetizer. "Wasabi Cashew" is perfect as a beer snack. You can enjoy it as a snack or with beer, depending on your needs. The prices are affordable, making it easy to purchase. I wonder what I'll try next time. There are so many options that it's hard to decide, but I'd like to visit when the cute young lady is there (laughs). Received a gift from someone who is transferring in March 2021. It was a set of small packaged bean sweets and nuts from a bean shop at the main store in Shirai. The packaging was confirmed with a seal. The cashew nuts were crunchy with a sweet and salty soy sauce glaze, slightly on the sweet side. The wasabi cashews had a crunchy texture with a hint of sweetness in the coating. The seven lucky beans had a fragrant soy sauce flavor and were addictive to snack on. My favorite was the grilled squid beans, which had a peanut coating with a squid flavor. Thank you for the delicious treat!
