I visited a restaurant with my senior who wanted to try insect cuisine. The café, located on the second floor, offers a stylish atmosphere where you can relax on a leisurely afternoon in Asakusa. I ordered ice cream made with grasshoppers and crickets, and surprisingly, the slightly salty insects paired well with the ice cream. They had a展示 (display) of a Japanese grasshopper, which made me appreciate the gratitude of receiving life. According to the staff, the restaurant often sees groups of friends, couples, and families. On my way out, I ran into an elementary school boy with his mother. Next time, I’d like to come here with my junior colleagues or children too!

I ordered silkworm droppings chazuke and water bug soda. The water bug had a unique taste that was a mix of apple and something that tasted like a living creature. After a while, my brain started to refuse to chew, but I ate it all. The flavor lingered in my nose, leaving me with an indescribable feeling. The silkworms tasted like dirt.

It was a cider with a pleasing green apple aroma from the water bug.
