Last week, I went to a new hot spring hotel in Okuniseko to celebrate my wife's birthday, which was a new experience for my blog. It seems that there was a rule to celebrate birthdays over two weeks, so this week we went to another hot spring inn. Since last week was a mountain hot spring, this time we visited a beach hot spring called Togeshima Beach Hot Spring in Shiraoi Town. The place is known for its beauty hot spring and we chose the relatively affordable "Hotel Ocean" for a one-night stay with breakfast only. The exterior of the hotel is covered in glass, making it stand out along National Route 36. There are two buildings, the old one for staying guests and the new one for day-trippers, with a spacious parking lot. We checked in to a retro-chic Japanese-style room where the futons were already laid out. While there is a toilet, the washroom is shared, but we didn't mind because of the affordable price. The hot spring baths are for staying guests only, with two locations: one for staying guests and the other in the new building for day-trippers. The hot spring water is colorless and transparent, with benefits such as relieving nerve pain, muscle fatigue, and promoting health. It is a 100% flowing hot spring. In the evening, there were many day-trippers, so we headed to the private bath for staying guests by climbing 5-6 steps up the stairs. The indoor bath was slightly cloudy from steam, but you could see clearly through the glass walls on two sides, which made me wonder if people passing by in large tourist buses could see my embarrassing naked body. The outdoor bath on the second floor was reached by a narrow staircase, and it offered a great view of National Route 36, making me feel exposed to passing cars. The new building's large bath also had a Five-Right Bath and a rock bath in the outdoor area, while the indoor area had a vibration bath, a hot sauna, and a cold sauna, along with some unique facilities. The high alkaline content in the water has a great effect on the skin, and my wife was very satisfied with the hot spring. The next morning, we enjoyed a 600 yen breakfast buffet. The dining area on the first floor had two rows of tables filled with dishes, with rice and miso soup at the back. I started with the dishes on the right side, and to my surprise, there was Togeshima tarako, a local specialty. There were also spicy squid, grilled salmon, okra, ham, rolled kelp, salad, and unlimited tofu and mushroom miso soup. There were no desserts or fruits, but instant coffee was available. Eating all the Togeshima tarako I wanted made me feel great. After eating, it was still only 8:40 am, so I went back to the hot spring for another soak, leaving me with soft and moisturized skin. That's all for my review.
