Located just a little over a minute from the North Exit of Kanamachi Station on the JR Joban Line, on the sixth floor of a building, is "Mekiki no Ginjō Kanamachi North Exit" – a chain izakaya by Watami. During lunchtime, it serves as an oasis for nearby office workers and housewives. On this occasion, I ordered the daily special, "Fried Horse Mackerel Set Meal" (税込850 yen). Interestingly, they took orders by mouth, which is quite rare these days. From the next table, I overheard a conversation about the drinking plan pricing system, which made me enviously think, "Oh, I want to drink too!" However, I focused solely on my fried horse mackerel. It turned out to be quite a good dish. I had initially considered going for a fresh fish option, but choosing the fried horse mackerel, which is one of my favorites, was definitely the right call.

The whale sashimi was thick and delicious. The namekuro (a type of fish dish) was also tasty. Since the restaurant was not busy, the food and drinks were served quickly, which was great. Although it was a bit of a hassle to grill the shishamo (smelt fish) at our table, it was still enjoyable.

There aren't many large izakayas around this station, so I use this place when I'm with a big group. Unfortunately, none of the dishes are particularly good, and the drinks aren't enjoyable either. The staff's attitude isn't very good, which is disappointing. I would be happy if they could improve even one thing, but I don't have high expectations.

No matter when I go, I always end up at the same seat (LOL). It's always available, so I can get in without waiting (LOL). The prices are low, and the service is quick, which means there’s no unnecessary stress, allowing me to enjoy my time at the restaurant. Plus, there’s a TV at the seat that’s entertaining!

The fish was supposed to be fresh, but it smelled so bad that it was inedible. It was nowhere near as delicious as ○○ Seafood. I definitely won’t be going back again.

I hesitated to enter this 24-hour restaurant located on the 6th floor of a building, but I finally decided to go in! As I stepped out of the elevator, I found rows of seats and a lively izakaya-like atmosphere. While I was a bit unsure about what to do, a smiling staff member kindly showed me to my seat. To my surprise, there were actually quite a few people dining for lunch, including several individuals dining alone. I was glad I mustered the courage to enter. Although I wasn't sure what time lunch started, I was craving seafood, so I ordered the prominently featured dish on the menu: the "Tuna Tataki Don with a Hefty Serving." I also got a draft beer to enjoy while waiting for my food. And then it arrived! Wait, is that really a hefty serving? Maybe it just seemed less than I expected because I usually eat a lot (laughs). There was a good variety of tuna and tataki, though. What’s really great about the hefty serving is that it comes with a magical option to turn it into a delicious tuna rice porridge with a bonito broth at the end! I carefully divided the tuna and got ready for the porridge. Wow, it was so good! This whole meal being under 1000 yen is a fantastic deal! As a woman dining alone, it can take some courage, but the staff are quite efficient and attentive, so I've been returning often now.

The restaurant is located in a building in front of the bus rotary at the train station. Inside, there are only table seats and a small raised seating area. I ordered a Hoppy set (white), a local-style mentaiko potato salad, and asparagus in soy sauce and butter foil bake. The asparagus dish is wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked on a tabletop burner. They provide a timer to ensure it's cooked just right. The mentaiko potato salad has a slightly weak mentaiko flavor, but it’s still quite nice. I also ordered some extra filling to take home. One thing to note is that the cover charge of ¥430 is a bit on the high side...

The inside of the restaurant is filled with lanterns, making it very bright. The rounded dividers for the seats are unique, and you can order everything, from water to plates, using a touch panel. Refusing the appetizer is not allowed, and a hefty seat charge is applied. Non-alcoholic drinks are served in cans, and pouring your own drinks feels a bit sad. The self-service grilled seafood features two each of scallops and live white clams, making you want to try their weekday all-you-can-eat option by 6 PM, as the taste is delightful. The carefully aged grilled blackthroat perch is fantastic, though the cost performance is low. The homemade, ingredient-rich rolled omelet with hijiki seaweed, mitsuba, and shiitake mushrooms has a perfect combination, making you want to replicate it at home; however, it might be a bit too runny due to the way it’s cooked. The grilled marinated mackerel has a mysterious texture, blending grilling, marination, and sashimi. The tuna ramen combines pork bone and chicken broth with rich flavors of katsuobushi, fish heads, and fish sauce, surprisingly resulting in a refreshing taste.
