JR Sapporo Station is about a 5-minute walk from the north exit. It is located on the street in front of the old main gate facing south towards Hokkaido University. Despite being close to places like Yodobashi Camera and the Hokkaido Government Building, it is surprisingly quiet. I went there on a weekend evening. They have a lunch menu at noon, but since it was evening, I ordered from the dinner menu. I started with the "Choregi Salad," which had a sesame oil flavor and small pieces of seaweed on top, adding a nice touch. It felt like a main dish salad, which was nice. Next, I ordered the "Butatama Okonomiyaki" and "Yakisoba." The okonomiyaki had a lot of pork and was very satisfying. The yakisoba had thick noodles, and the fried egg added a mild flavor, while the pickled ginger gave it a nice kick. I also tried the spicy "lamb" and curry-flavored "chicken." I want to visit this place again! I really liked it. I walked from Sapporo Station and found Buaiso Bettei nearby. They specialize in teppanyaki, and when you sit at the counter, you can see the iron plate. I wanted to order Butadama, but to my surprise, a half-size portion was served as a complimentary appetizer! Lucky me! So, I changed my order to Negiyaki. Here are some excerpts from their website: - Beef Tendon Curry 700 yen: A curry made by blending spices and simmering for a whole day. The deliciousness of this curry is exquisite! It's limited to 20 servings per week... I think? Limited quantity! Available for lunch too... or not... - Negiyaki 800 yen: Made with the highest quality oil residue. The juicy umami from the expensive oil residue and the green onions go perfectly together! This was honestly delicious! - Lots of vegetables! Cholegi Salad 480 yen: A salad made with plenty of mizuna, sunny lettuce, and cucumber. The dressing with sesame oil flavor is addictive, and it's garnished with Korean seaweed for an accent. It has a strong taste overall, but it's delicious. - Natsukashi no Takosan Wiener 480 yen: Surprisingly, it tasted like chili sauce! At first, it felt strange, but it actually works! - Potato Salad: I forgot the price, but it was a delicious potato salad. I got really full. All the dishes were delicious. They all have a strong flavor, so if you prefer milder tastes, you might not like it. But I really liked it and would love to come back again. I don't have many reasons to come to this area, but I want to come back for this place. They also have dishes like roast beef bowl for lunch. There are still more dishes I want to try. There are so many menu options to choose from, which is great! From beef tendon curry, roast beef bowl, teppanyaki oyakodon, to thick-cut beef tongue set meal. This time, I was craving for horumon, so I chose the Maruchou set meal, which had a rich and slightly spicy flavor that went well with rice. It was really delicious. I'm interested in trying other menu items, so I definitely want to come back!
