Sapporo 1923 Odori Store in Sapporo City, Chuo-ku, Minami 2-jo Nishi, is a bar located just a short walk from Tanuki Koji Street. We visited this bar for our second gathering of the day without a reservation, a group of four. Smoking is allowed inside the bar. This bar specializes in highballs, so we naturally toasted with highballs. They have a few unique features: 1. Whiskey is chilled to 2 degrees or below. 2. They use natural water with a 4.3 gas volume for carbonation. 3. Ice is frozen at -15 degrees, creating fine ice with strong carbonation. It goes down smoothly! There is a table charge of 500 yen, which includes all-you-can-eat nuts. Popcorn was also available, and we had seconds. The potato fries were thin and delicious, especially with added ketchup. The ham cutlet was thick and tasty. We also tried the luxurious Macallan highball, which was incredibly delicious! The interior of the bar is stylish and clean, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. On the holiday, it said they would close at 12 o'clock, but on the 23rd, they were open until 3 o'clock. It's a highball bar, so they have a wide variety of drinks like gin, scotch, and whiskey, and I tried the Premium Malt's - Master's Dream beer for the first time. It was deliciously bitter! The snacks like ham cutlet, prosciutto, and cheese platter were all tasty too.

I visited Hashigo Sake for the first time. This bar is known for its highballs, so I tried a Laphroaig with ginger highball. I've been into this combination lately and it's delicious. The atmosphere inside the bar is lively and fun, with a Southeast Asian bar vibe.

After indulging in a food tour at SAMA and Junren in the forest of the palace and ending up completely stuffed, we headed to a bar where only liquids could fit in our stomachs. The atmosphere inside was moody and calm, part of the Avanti group which has several branches in the Susukino district. There was a table charge of 500 yen, but you could enjoy unlimited snacks and a wide selection of whiskies. We immediately ordered the following: The Angle Highball, Ginger Highball, and The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year on the rocks. The highballs, made with carbonated water and ice, were delicious with a nice kick to them. Sipping on the Ginger Highball and Macallan Double Cask, we enjoyed the Avanti night. On Sunday, I was wandering around the city and got thirsty, so I searched for a place to drink. I found a place that claimed to serve drinks quickly, so I decided to check it out. When I opened the door, the staff seemed relaxed. The interior of the bar had a typical American atmosphere. I sat at the counter and ordered a highball and a beer combo for 500 yen. They also offered unlimited popcorn and snacks like nachos. Overall, the experience was just okay. They have a "casual drinking" option from opening until 8 pm, where you can get two highballs and a snack plate for 1,500 yen. It's not a bad deal, but it just wasn't what I was in the mood for that day. The place was pretty much empty the whole time. I finished my drink and left. Thank you for the meal.

In front of the Richmond Hotel in April 2016, there is a shop where I always wanted to go in for a drink. After finishing work today, I went to the highball bar alone. The atmosphere of the bar was just right, and I ordered a Yamazaki highball for 650 yen. My colleagues, who prefer beer, reluctantly ordered a sour drink. We had to pay a 500 yen service charge, which we didn't really need. After finishing the first drink, I ordered a Mega Highball for 880 yen. The atmosphere and drinks were great, but paying for my colleagues' drinks was an unexpected expense. We then decided to go to an izakaya after leaving the bar.

A friend took me to a great find! It's a highball bar located near the stairs just after coming up from the underground passage from Pole Town to Pivot. We opted for the 2-hour all-you-can-drink option, which included several types of highballs, cocktails, and soft drinks for around 3000 yen per person. For an additional 500 yen, we could enjoy unlimited snacks on the table, including popcorn and other options like karinto and potato chips upon request. I started with a Hakushu highball, as I usually only drink highballs. It was my first time trying so many different types of highballs side by side. My friend and I decided to go with the Highball Roller strategy and tried all the varieties available. Some had lemon or apple in them, and each had a different aroma, flavor, and bitterness. It was a satisfying experience! We also tried various dishes like black bean and honey cream cheese baguette and wasabi pizza, which were both unusual and delicious. The staff was friendly and we had a great time chatting with them. They also have a counter, so it seems like a comfortable spot for solo diners as well. I might just become a regular here!

In 2015, the self-proclaimed Carbonated Prince, aiming to conquer the whole country, seems to have lost his spark recently. However, stumbling upon a hotel on the way back, he confidently declares he can enjoy carbonated drinks without ice. Upon entering, he sits at a dimly lit table and orders a carbonated drink without ice, but finds the portion to be lacking. The snack offered is not the usual all-you-can-eat snacks, but a mix of rice crackers and nuts. The regional carbonated drinks and local specialties are missing. He orders a cheese platter, which turns out to be just regular cheese. Dissatisfied with the portion size, he orders a Bowmore 12-year highball, enjoying the peaty flavor with rock salt. Still feeling unsatisfied, he orders a "Mega Highball" for a stronger carbonated experience. Despite drinking multiple Mega Highballs, he still feels the need for more. Reflecting on the lack of regional carbonated drinks and food options, he contemplates whether the experience in Nakasu district was enough. On the way back to the hotel, he buys canned carbonated drinks from a convenience store to enjoy in his room, disappearing into his dreams.

Welcome. ---------- September 2014 ----------Next to Pivot, along Higashiichi-dori, there is a highball bar that took over the La Pasada spot. It's a Bali-style takeover. The tables are filled with staff members, creating a cozy atmosphere that even children would enjoy. The only noticeable change is the light bulbs. When asked why there are so many staff members, I was told that it was only the third day since opening. A young staff member recommended the strawberry highball, which was made with single malt whiskey and a hint of strawberry flavor. It was delicious! The all-you-can-eat snacks at the counter were tempting. I couldn't resist reaching for the potato chips. The combination of corned beef, mayo, green onions, and cheese on crispy crackers was delightful. The chicken karaage with green onion sauce was also tasty. The warm and tangy sauce complemented the crispy and juicy chicken. Overall, the atmosphere and space were great. The restaurant had a mix of young and lively customers, making it a fun place to dine alone at the counter. Thank you for the meal.
