I used to think that the karaage (Japanese fried chicken) at izakayas (Japanese pubs) was always perfect. I came here for lunch and saw salt zangi (another type of fried chicken) on the menu, so I had high hopes and decided to order it. After ordering, I found out that there was a buffet and a drink bar, so I wandered around. The buffet had three types of side dishes like potato salad, kinpira gobou, and simmered vegetables. These side dishes were really good, and the best part was that they were all you can eat (you could also get unlimited refills of rice). There was also a juice bar, and they had a delicious tsukune soup. I enjoyed sipping the soup and snacking on the side dishes, which helped pass the time perfectly. When the Hokkaido zangi set meal arrived, it came with salt zangi (served with sauce on the side), rice, pickles, and seaweed soup. It was a proper set meal with the added bonus of all you can eat side dishes, which was a fantastic service. The only downside was the karaage, which wasn't to my liking. Next time, I'll try the menchi katsu (breaded and deep-fried ground meat cutlet).

We went to En, a place where my part-time job colleagues often have drinks! Even though we have been here many times, we ordered a lot and it only cost around 2000 yen per person ^^ The tsukune (chicken meatballs) here are especially delicious! This is a student-friendly izakaya. It was bustling with university students today as well.

I was called by Mairevi-san to "hang out a bit before boarding the night flight," so I came here. We ordered a variety of tsukune because when it comes to flames, tsukune is the way to go! We didn't need the plum though, haha. We also added grilled beef tongue with miso. I was impressed that the beef tongue was cooked perfectly with such a small solid fuel. There are many branches of Flame around the city, so there's nothing particularly special about this one, but it's a reliable place that offers good food at a reasonable price.

I'm sorry for starting off with an old joke from the beginning of August 2018~♪ This is "Charcoal Izakaya En Sapporo Station North Exit Store". I went drinking with my friends from college after a long time. All-you-can-drink including draft beer for 980 yen (excluding tax) for 120 minutes!! It's really cheap~♪ Ume shiso daikon Japanese-style salad... The ume adds a nice accent and makes it easy to eat. I usually don't have much to say about salads, but this one is quite good~♪ I recommend it!! Assorted sashimi platter... Salmon, tuna, and mackerel. I wasn't expecting much from the sashimi at a chain restaurant, but it was quite fatty. I was satisfied enough. Hokkaido salted zangi... The taste is not bad, but the texture of the meat is a bit chewy. It's 290 yen (excluding tax), so it might be better to just enjoy it for what it is. Assorted pickles... The yam was delicious. Chicken skin senbei... It has a crispy texture, but it's not that tasty. Pork kimchi fried rice... The kimchi flavor is subtle, so even I, who is not a fan of kimchi, can eat it. I don't feel much spiciness, but it's delicious. Assorted raw chicken skewers... They're not bad. It's just a personal preference, but I think the skewers don't need to be too soft. I prefer them to be well-cooked. Stone-cooked mapo tofu... The cold tofu inside is a bit off-putting. It's a shame because the mapo is spicy and delicious, especially for an izakaya. There were some points to consider, but overall, the content was satisfying♪

There is an izakaya where you can eat golden zangi with the effective ingredient of Euglena, parameiron. It offers all-you-can-drink at a reasonable price, and you can enjoy draft beer and local sake. It was great.

The assorted yakitori was amazing!! This place seems to specialize in tsukune. The ramen, salad, and fried rice are all delicious (*^_^*) It's also nice that they include shrimp crackers! Other than the waiter leaving the wrong bill, everything was good♪

Highly cost-effective crispy chicken skin salad, assorted sausages, chicken nanban, 12-piece set, raw tsukune hot pot, cheese fried rice for 3000 yen. You can eat and drink all you want and fill your stomach with your favorite dishes.

The 90-minute all-you-can-drink for 580 yen is a great deal. The conversations of Hokkaido University students drinking from noon add an interesting touch.

Visited on 18/7/8, a sunny Sunday after a long time, I went to Enma Sapporo Station Kita-guchi branch alone for a drink. I was seated at a long counter for two people and ordered the 120-minute all-you-can-drink for 980 yen (excluding tax). I started with a beer and snacked on the potato salad provided while looking at the menu.
What I ate:
- Special salmon sashimi: The salmon was slightly lacking in freshness.
- Liver and leek stir-fry: The liver was overcooked and tough, with leeks and bean sprouts served in an iron plate.
- For dessert, I had the complimentary raw chicken meatball soup.
Overall, if you overlook the taste of the food, it's a good place to drink cheaply.

Sapporo Kita-ku near Sapporo Station, a charcoal izakaya restaurant called En Sapporo Ekikita branch! This time, we used it for a company gathering! We ordered a course menu. It was my colleague's choice. It was a hot day, but as soon as we arrived, the hot pot set was ready. Daikon salad, french fries, salted zangi, and named tsukune were all good! And then the hot pot... they kindly served both udon and zosui as the finishing touch. The raw tsukune was delicious as always. Thank you for the delicious meal.

In July 2018, I decided to have a casual drink near Sapporo Station and ended up at "Honoo" in the north exit. Next to it was "Ushinoya" which looked like a good place for yakiniku, but it was fully booked so we stuck to our original plan and went to "Honoo". The place was quite spacious, with smoking allowed throughout. We opted for the all-you-can-drink option which was quite affordable. We ordered dishes like raw tsukune, beef tongue skewers, Hokkaido salted zangi, a large radish salad, salted yukke, and a moon-viewing tsukune fried rice. The food was decent for the price. The moon-viewing tsukune fried rice we had at the end was nicely fried with a hint of soy sauce flavor, and was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I used it for a New Year's party with friends. We had a reservation for 6:00 pm and arrived about 5 minutes early, but we had to wait for 30 minutes before being seated. Isn't the point of making a reservation to be seated on time? Finally, when we were seated, there was no drink menu available. Another server quickly came to take our drink orders. Despite informing them in advance that one person had canceled, and getting approval from the restaurant, they still told us they would only serve for 4 people since the reservation was for 4. The staff should communicate better among themselves. We ordered the specialty! Full Stomach Course with raw tsukune, which included 9 dishes and a 120-minute all-you-can-drink option. The dishes included: - A mountain of shrimp chips - A mountain of daikon radish salad - Premium raw tsukune shio chan-konabe with Sanuki udon (self-service) These three items were already set on the table when we were seated. We had to light the nabe ourselves, and the udon left on the table was dry. I thought the staff would light the fire for us. There was no explanation on when to put the raw tsukune in the bamboo tube, so we had to figure it out ourselves. - Raw tsukune skewers These were delicious. - Ibaraki-grown Koshihikari rice porridge (Is Koshihikari rice grown in Osaka? Isn't it from Ibaraki?) - Hokkaido salted zangi (3 pieces for each person) These were skinless, not greasy, and very tasty. They were a hit with those who like juicy fried chicken. - A mountain of french fries - Today's dessert, sakura chiffon cake The food was generally tasty, but the portions labeled as "a mountain of" were actually just normal portions. The staff's service was not good, and I do not plan on revisiting. There is another branch nearby, so if I were to go again, I would choose to go there. Each branch may have a different atmosphere, so I would have higher expectations for a different location. *I was too disappointed to take photos of the food, so I only have a picture of the exterior.

Today, we came to Hokkaido to participate in the Hokkaido Marathon. After completing the full marathon, we went on a gourmet tour - starting with soup curry, then parfait, and finally Genghis Khan. After the Genghis Khan party, some of us wanted to go for a light second round with our close running friends. We decided to go to a recommended izakaya by the 4 locals in Sapporo, which turned out to be "En." We ordered something called "Zangi," which was similar to fried chicken but bigger and more flavorful. It was delicious! I looked up the origins of Zangi and found out that it means "fried chicken" in Chinese. There are various theories about how the name "Zangi" came about. In Hokkaido, it is called "Zangi," while in Ehime Prefecture, it is called "Senzanki." Different regions have different names for it. It was interesting to learn about the different ways people distinguish between Zangi and fried chicken, such as based on the seasoning, ingredients, or coating. Overall, it was a delightful experience trying out the local specialty of Zangi in Hokkaido.

The premium raw tsukune skewers are definitely the best! The flame-grilled skewers and raw tsukune are delicious, right? This time, we ordered a platter of premium raw tsukune. The difference is... it's even juicier. The crunchy texture of the cartilage is irresistible!! With green onions, cheese, grated daikon radish, pickled plum, and spicy mayonnaise. Everything was delicious♡ Thank you for the meal.

The tsukune soup and hot towel soup are quite salty with a high volume. Starting with the potato salad Yurinchi, it tickles the nose with a high calorie count. The large zangi has a crispy coating with a moist and tender chicken breast, complemented by the refreshing taste of the vegetables drizzled with leek sauce. The Iberico soy milk hot pot contains a golden soup with a mellow taste of soy milk and the umami flavor of the ingredients. The Iberico meat and tsukune in the hot pot are flavorful, and the dish is finished with a satisfyingly chewy texture. The tsukune has a chewy, steamed texture and a premium, juicy flavor that is just the right amount of salty, with a crunchy cartilage texture.
