Since yesterday, I've been having seafood non-stop, so even though I'm in Hakodate, I decided to search for yakiniku instead of choosing seafood. I ordered the raw meat first, and when I looked at the menu, they were recommending salted hormone. It's my first time at this restaurant, so I wasn't sure about the portion size, but I decided to go with the salted hormone, sagari salt, and kimchi to start. The salted hormone was indeed delicious and reasonably priced. I also added a lemon sour and more salted hormone, and the total came to just over 3,000 yen (including the appetizer). Yakiniku really is best cooked on a charcoal grill. The restaurant isn't exactly fancy, and there seems to be a cat hanging around in the back, and the ventilation isn't great like in newer establishments, so it may not be suitable for women or couples. But if you're looking to casually enjoy some yakiniku, it's tasty and offers good value for money, so I recommend it. Unfortunately, it seems they don't accept the Hokkaido Support Coupon.

Dinner set. The photo is of bean sprout namul. In addition to the photo, there is one more drink. Three dishes including hormone, chicken, etc. Grilled on a shichirin. Located next to the hotel, close to the station, making it easy to visit. Good for a light drink. If it's 1500 yen, it's cost-effective.

In the seafood town of Hakodate, I felt like eating yakiniku and stumbled upon Yakiniku Sakara. The menu at the entrance mainly featured horumon (offal) and other items that seemed reasonably priced. The beer and grilling the meat on the shichirin (charcoal grill) were fantastic! The beef was only kalbi on the blackboard menu, but there were various options for pork. I tried tsurami for the first time, and it had a good chewy texture and was delicious. Both the horumon and chicken were also delicious.

This is a business trip to Hakodate. I stayed at the usual hotel in the Odori area, checked in, and went out for dinner around 8 pm. This time, I visited a restaurant that had caught my eye before, with a red lantern hanging outside, called "Sakura". The window had a sign saying, "Feel free to come in even if you are dining alone!" so I took up the offer and entered the restaurant alone. Inside, it seemed like the first round had just finished, and there was a slight smell of grilled meat in the air. I sat at the counter on the left and ordered the "Evening Drink Set" for 1600 yen since I was dining alone. Soon, a glass of beer and a bean sprout namul-style dish were served. The staff said, "You can have one more beer," as I quenched my dry throat. Then, a charcoal grill with red-hot coals was placed in front of me, along with plates of salted hormone, pork "turami", and "sagari", along with lemon juice. Feeling hungry, I placed the hormone, turami, and sagari on the grill. When I asked a young staff member what "turami" was, they said it was the part of the pig's face. It's a local specialty using the head part, similar to "kashira" in yakitori. Just like fish, it's a part that is well-exercised, so the meat has a satisfying texture. The hormone, made using the rectum, had an irresistible texture and flavor. Both the meat and hormone were seasoned with salt, so there was no sauce, just lemon juice, but they were grilled to perfection on the charcoal grill. The meat and hormone were exceptional.

Hakodate Yakiniku Sakura Theme: Blog Today, feeling lazy to go out and explore, I decided to visit this restaurant located just a short walk from my hotel. I had heard from a senior colleague that the taste here was good, and also because I hadn't had horumon (offal) in a while, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant operates from 5 pm to 11 pm, and upon entering, I noticed the overall dim lighting, which gave it a nice atmosphere. There were counter seats available, making it suitable for solo dining. I ordered a highball and looked through the menu. I opted for the tabletop grill menu, which included not only yakiniku but also motsunabe (offal hot pot) and chiritoriyaki, which were also recommended. I wanted to have white rice with my meal, but unfortunately, they only had small rice portions available. Despite this setback, I decided to stay and ordered salted horumon, jar-pickled tsurami, and duck meatballs. These were served on a small tabletop grill for me to cook myself. The salted horumon was a bit too salty, and the tsurami was slightly tough, but the duck meatballs were the most delicious. I also ordered egg soup, which was a bit too strong in flavor. Overall, I felt that with white rice, the dishes would have been more balanced. The total cost for my solo meal was around 2340 yen. I felt that while the highball was reasonably priced, I wished the beer and meat dishes were a bit more affordable.

I came to a restaurant in Hakodate because I saw "chiritori nabe" on TV and it looked delicious. It's a yakiniku and horumon restaurant in Matsukaze-cho. The interior is a bit dim. Although it's a yakiniku restaurant, there is also a counter, so it seems easy for even a solo customer to enter. Before the nabe, I tried some regular yakiniku. I ordered salted horumon (490 yen) and thick-cut tsurami (410 yen). It's surprisingly cheap. I grilled them on a shichirin and ate them. Well, it's okay for the price. I regained my composure and ordered chiritori nabe (1 serving for 1150 yen). Chiritori nabe is named after the square stainless steel pot that resembles a dustpan. Indeed, the square pot contains bean sprouts, cabbage, leeks, and various types of meat and horumon. When I took a bite... it's spicy! It's miso-based, but it's too spicy for me, who doesn't like spicy food, so I couldn't really taste the flavor. Is this how chiritori nabe is supposed to be?
