I went to Verde's breakfast buffet because it was on sale for 1500 yen for a limited time. They offer different hot pot, main dish, and grilled fish options depending on the day of the week, with options like Ishikari hot pot, Genghis Khan, and salmon & mackerel on Mondays and Fridays. I have been impressed with the cost performance of this restaurant during lunch buffets, so I had high expectations for their breakfast buffet which normally costs 2200 yen. The restaurant still seemed to be struggling as there were not many customers. Payment is made upfront, and you can earn points just like during lunch (you need to use their app). When you are seated, they explain the live kitchen where you can order 4 types of egg dishes, 8 Hokkaido specialty dishes, and 5 cold drinks. I ordered a tomato and cheese omelet and a rolled omelet to start, and then I went to check out the buffet table. I mostly took hot dishes like bacon, tofu hamburger steak, gratin, shumai, and chan-chan-yaki. I also got a sandwich, smoked salmon, chicken mustard, and seaweed salad, and I added fruit cocktail to yogurt with strawberry sauce. The dishes are individually wrapped, so you only need a plate when taking bread or pork soup curry. I thought I could handle more, so I asked the staff if I could order all 8 Hokkaido specialty dishes at once, and they kindly agreed. Soon, omelets, rolled omelets, and a seafood bowl arrived. I also received dishes like pork bowl, Genghis Khan, keema curry, somen noodles, salt ramen, grilled fish, and nikujaga. The rice portion seemed to be more than 2 servings. I made a half bowl by pushing the meat of the pork bowl to one side and topping it with Genghis Khan. I left some rice intentionally and did the same for the seafood bowl. After finishing all the dishes, I went for a second round. There are over 10 small dishes that go well with rice, such as hijiki seaweed, boiled vegetables, and simmered burdock. I also tried Hokkaido specialties like Tarako (cod roe) from Torazaki beach and shiokara (salted squid guts). I had a hard time choosing from about 10 types of bread, but I ended up with milk bread and chocolate chip scones. I also got salmon salad, miso soup, yogurt with mango sauce, and a green smoothie that seemed a bit intimidating to drink. I had iced coffee with soy milk and turned it into a cafe au lait. I struggled with the remaining rice and vinegared rice but managed to finish everything. Here are some dishes that I particularly liked: - Omelet: Freshly made with tomato and cheese, delicious! - Rolled omelet: Sweet and tasty with soy sauce. - Seafood bowl: Rich in ingredients like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, octopus, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, egg, cucumber, etc. - Genghis Khan: Mushroom-rich and slightly sweet. - Pork bowl: The meat portion is small but the flavor is great after being seared. - Keema curry: Easy to eat with a spicy kick. - Salt ramen: Just the right amount of saltiness, and the chashu pork was a nice touch. - Grilled fish: Two types of grilled fish in bite-sized pieces. The salmon was ordinary, but the mackerel was fatty and delicious. - Somen noodles: Topped generously, but I couldn't pick up the noodles after adding everything (sweat). - Nikujaga: Sweet and tasty, but the potatoes make it filling. - Tofu hamburger steak: Gentle flavor, delicious on its own or with soy sauce. - Gratin: Creamy and tasty.
