Sapporo City, Toyohira Ward, Higashi 3-jo 4-chome. Along the road between Higashi 3-jo and 4-jo in Higashi. I finally visited the izakaya that caught my eye every time I passed by. There were many menu boards outside the restaurant. Although it wasn't displayed that day, there was usually a sign indicating the establishment year, which I believe was around 27 or 28 years. I entered the restaurant after 6:00 PM. Inside, there were counter seats on the left, which seemed quite seasoned. On the right, there were tables and a raised seating area, which seemed newer. I sat at the counter. In addition to the menu on the table, there were also daily recommendations on the wall. The overall pricing seemed quite affordable. I ordered a bottled beer, Asahi Super Dry in a medium-sized bottle with a "Tokyo 2020" label. Surprisingly, the complimentary dish was bukkake udon, which was topped with ground natto and chopped seaweed. I was a bit surprised by this choice, as udon doesn't usually serve as an appetizer (personal opinion). I decided to eat it last. I also ordered simmered black halibut and grilled bell peppers. The counter customers all seemed like regulars. They would have a few drinks, enjoy some food, chat casually with the owner, and then leave. The simmered dish had kelp and shiitake mushrooms, creating a flavorful broth. The grilled bell peppers were served in a generous portion, about four pieces. It was a delight for bell pepper lovers. I noticed that the portions here were quite large, as I had suspected. I switched to hot sake and added pork skewers. The menu was extensive, offering a variety of options. In addition to typical izakaya dishes, they also had items like "Pork Ginger Grilled," "Pork Loin Cutlet," "Cheese Hamburger," "Beef Bowl," "Zaru Ramen," and "Cold/Hot Udon and Soba." I wondered if these were added based on customer requests. The pork skewers were also quite sizable, but a bit on the salty side (laughs). I enjoyed some sake while observing new regulars coming in. Listening to the conversation between the owner and customers, I learned interesting stories about the Higashi area. This izakaya has been loved by the local regulars for nearly 30 years. Finally, I had the complimentary udon as a closing dish (laughs). Thank you for the meal.
