I returned to Hokkaido and purchased this for my first homecoming souvenir. I felt like I had exhausted all Hokkaido souvenirs for my Hokkaido parents, so I decided to buy this limited seasonal sweet. Although the cherry blossoms in Hokkaido are still a little ways off, I decided to enjoy the cherry blossoms a little early. I tried the cherry blossom flavored Iori Sakura Momoyama Manju. When I looked at the website, it seems like it is only sold in Hokkaido now, right? Cherry blossoms have already finished in Honshu, so it might have been a precious find. The sweet bean paste and cherry blossom-colored Momoyama were delicious with a hint of spring. My mother tried the cherry pie and said it was very delicious! It's good to know. When I lived in Tokyo, I always tried to choose souvenirs that I couldn't get in Hokkaido, but from now on, I look forward to finding delicious souvenirs without sticking to Hokkaido.

This is a shop selling traditional Japanese sweets located in the basement of Daimaru department store adjacent to JR Sapporo Station. Every time I pass by, I think "I want to buy something someday." This time, I decided to purchase yokan as a gift for my parents. The display evokes the image of overcoming the hot summer with delicious Japanese sweets. The price on the product package was reasonable. My parents were delighted to receive the yokan, and they sent a return gift promptly. The staff's service was pleasant, and I would like to use this shop again.

I found a shop that caught my eye at the Daimaru Anko Festival, but I missed out on the time-specific arrival, so I searched for something similar here... This time, I wanted a chewy type of dorayaki, so I'm glad I found something similar here. The mochi dorayaki is quite small, kind of elegant and Kyoto-like in size. It's a bit pricey... what should I do... but I really wanted to try a chewy dorayaki... so I ended up buying it. It looks like a dorayaki, but when you eat it, it's really chewy! It's like a mochi disguised as dorayaki. It seems to be made with glutinous rice flour and yam. The red bean paste has quite a few whole beans, giving it a slightly grainy texture, almost like the skin of the beans. This one might be divisive due to the texture. The sweetness is moderate. The cost performance is not great, but the chewy texture and moderately sweet red bean paste make it an elegant dorayaki that would go well with green tea. If only it were around 100 yen...

I bought some sweets at "Kyogasho Sasaya Iori" in the Honke Town of Daimaru basement. I tried the seasonal limited edition "Azuki Mochi" which I had been curious about. It is a half-moon shaped sweet similar to a dorayaki, with a chewy texture and a mildly sweet red bean paste filling. It was delicious! I might end up buying the same "Azuki Mochi" again next time. Thank you for the meal!

While looking for New Year's gifts, I came across Daruma-chan! It was filled with a hint of sweetness from the red bean paste. It is a perfect Japanese sweet to start the year with. I also bought some for home. It was a great start to the year! Thank you for the delicious treat!

When I visited Kyoto, I bought some Azuki mochi. It has a simple and delicious taste. The limited-time Dorayaki is also available to buy in Sapporo, which is great. Truly feels like authentic Kyoto wagashi!

After a break of about 4 years, Tabelog has undergone various system changes. Currently, it is in a state of confusion, similar to that of Urashima Taro, and there are many unclear points about how to write reviews compared to before. This is my third post in May 2018, so I will briefly review the Kyoto confectionery shop Sasaya Iori, which sells "Heian Sashi" limited to Kyoto. They use the traditional method passed down in the shop using a wooden mold. In Sapporo, it is sold only during the cherry blossom season at this Daimaru store. - Heian Sashi: It originated from the fact that the shop was opened in Sashi on Suzaku Oji during the Heian period in 1716. A Kyoto-exclusive Japanese confectionery sold only during the cherry blossom season in Sapporo. A handmade product using a traditional wooden mold passed down in the shop. Smooth red bean paste inside the cherry blossom paste. A refined Japanese confectionery with a gentle taste and appearance. Price: 4 pieces for 1,080 yen (tax included). "Heian Sashi" is a Japanese confectionery with a soft cherry blossom-like color and taste. It gives a feeling of experiencing the tradition of Kyoto confectionery. Kyoto, the ancient capital, reminds us of the gorgeous Heian picture scrolls. Cherry blossoms are the homeland of the Japanese people. A refined taste of Japanese tea complements the confectionery in a unique way. "Heian Sashi" is a Japanese confectionery that allows you to fully enjoy the cherry blossom season. It was delicious, thank you.

I'm alone in Sapporo! I was given an order to buy souvenirs at Daimaru, so my lunch plans have changed, but I'll go to Chuo Ward for lunch today to walk to Daimaru. I walked over 10,000 steps this morning, so today will be another 20,000 step course. First, I need to buy the "XXXXX" at the store. Checking the store layout, I usually don't read instructions, but today I'm valuing my time. I'll head straight there. It was a good thing I checked the layout, as it's a bit hard to find. I'll buy the "XXXXX" for souvenirs, but I also found some "dorayaki" next to it and bought 3. It says "mochi" on it, but isn't it dorayaki? The staff here are nice. I'll eat it at home later. Opening it up, it's quite small, about half the size of a regular dorayaki. It says "mochi" but is the dough made of mochi? It's a unique texture, but is it mochi? It's definitely not a dorayaki. The texture is chewy, and it has red bean paste inside. It's a fancy snack, and the red bean paste is delicious. It's interesting, but I might only need to try it once.

On a certain weekday, while shopping for souvenirs at Daimaru, I came across a strange dorayaki. Before buying the essential souvenirs, I purchased this dorayaki for home use. It's not for giving to Iori-chan, I bought it from Sasaya Iori (lol). It cost 1512 yen including tax and was a heavy cylindrical dorayaki! It would be good for Setsubun rolls too. I feel a bit strange because the disc-shaped dorayaki is the usual image. Now, after drinking alcohol and returning home, it's time to eat it. When I put it on the table, it disappeared in an instant because it's a house where things vanish quickly, so I had a bite even in the middle of the night. Since I was drunk, I tore it with my hands (lol). Normal dorayaki doesn't get sticky on the outside, but this one does. I should have eaten it with a toothpick or fork (´;Д;`) The taste is very good! Delicious! Irresistible! And then sleep. I heard that it was all eaten as a snack at 10 a.m. the next day. The family's evaluation was also very positive, so there will be a repeat purchase! Thank you for the meal ^_^

Now, I have come to Sapporo and found a convenient place at Daimaru Sapporo store where Sasaya Iori is located. It's great to have Kyoto's traditional sweets easily available in Sapporo. This time, I tried the "Senkyakumanrai" for 108 yen including tax, and it was satisfying with a decent level of sweetness. It's perfect for a dessert or a snack with tea. Thank you for the delicious meal! Release April 2016. Nankaihawks1's Gourmet Guide. Nankaihawks1's blog. http://hawks1.exblog.jp/

◆◆◆◆◆◆【3rd Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆【June 2015】I was planning to buy some dorayaki for my third post, but then I saw the limited edition "Grape Shiro" at Daimaru Sapporo. I have a weakness for limited edition items. (laughs)■Grape ShiroLimited edition item exclusive to Daimaru SapporoLimited quantityChill before consuming. It consists of a pale yellow Kinugata jelly on top, a light pink yokan on the bottom, and sweetened grapes in the middle.Price: 864 yen (including 8% consumption tax)As the season gets warmer, the chilled "Grape Shiro" cools both the mind and body with its elegant taste. The moderate sweetness helps relieve fatigue. It's a wonderful season unfolding.◆◆◆◆◆◆【2nd Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Daimaru Sapporo Exclusive "Matcha Yokan"【April 2013】For my second post, I decided to go with the Daimaru Sapporo store, which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Each store released a Daimaru Sapporo exclusive sweet for the occasion, and I chose the "Matcha Yokan" from Sasa-ya Iori.■Matcha YokanIt is a simple and refined yokan made with a base of white anko with hand-picked and white small beans, mixed with matcha, sugar, and agar. It has a light and elegant taste.Price: 840 yenIt's a shame that it's only available for a limited time. It has a nostalgic taste to it.◆◆◆◆◆◆【1st Post】◆◆◆◆◆◆Established in 1716, this renowned Kyoto confectionery shop offers the "Yuzu Komaru" limited to four Daimaru stores nationwide. It's a taste of tradition and prestige.【March 2012】Sasa-ya Iori, founded in 1716 in Kyoto, is currently run by the 10th generation. The shop was established in Kyoto when the first Sasa-ya Ihei, who worked as a confectioner in Ise, was called to Kyoto to serve the Imperial Palace. The shop name "Iori" was bestowed by the Imperial Palace, hence the name Sasa-ya Iori. Originally, Kyoto wagashi were only available to the Imperial Palace, tea ceremony masters, and shrines and temples, not to commoners like me. This shop is located in the Poppetown on the 1st basement floor of Daimaru Sapporo directly connected to JR Sapporo Station. For more details on the shop location, please check it on Tabelog. They are famous for their wagashi and dorayaki. Currently, they have over 30 stores in department stores nationwide, with many in the Kanto region, particularly in Isetan. The one I bought this time is the Daimaru exclusive "Yuzu Komaru," only available in Kyoto, Sapporo, and Hakata.■Yuzu KomaruIt features high-quality yuzu peel with the flesh scooped out without damaging the skin. It contains agar and large azuki beans inside. It is meant to be eaten with the peel. It has a refreshing and strong yuzu aroma with a subtle yet firm sweetness that spreads in the mouth. It is a high-quality and fulfilling taste. It is elegant yet a taste for modern times. People in the Kanto and Nagoya regions should try this Kyoto confectionery in Kyoto or Sapporo at least once. Price: 315 yenIt's worth every 315 yen. It's a Kyoto wagashi shop with a long history. I believe there are no disappointments. It's a world of delicious and satisfying wagashi. Thank you for the treat.

This is a traditional Japanese sweets shop located on the basement floor of Daimaru Department Store, adjacent to Sapporo Station. The shop is not very noticeable as it is tucked away, but the sweets they sell are all delicious and satisfying. I recently purchased sweet potato sweets called Sweet Potato, and they were elegant with a rich flavor that had my whole family nodding in approval as they ate. The amount and sweetness of the red beans inside paired perfectly with the sweet potato, making them so delicious that we wanted to eat two or three more. The prices are reasonable, and the cost performance is excellent. I plan to buy a selection of sweets when I visit Sapporo next time.

I wanted to buy some New Year's-themed sweets with zodiac signs on them. Wow, these look light and cute. These zodiac figurines are adorable. Inside is peach-flavored, which is nice too. It was very crowded at the end of the year, but they made sure not to mix up the customers' orders, so the flow of people was smooth. The lucky bamboo comes in three different flavors. It's like a wafer that absorbs the moisture in your mouth, but the subtle sugar taste slowly kicks in. I thought these light snacks were really nice.

I recently got a Daimaru point card and find myself shopping there more often. Today, I would like to share my review of "Sasaya Iori at Daimaru Sapporo". This shop is located in the traditional Japanese confectionery section and is considered high-end, so I don't usually shop here. However, I finally decided to try their exclusive Daimaru limited edition sweet called "Yuzu Komaru". The staff at this shop seem to be well-trained as they all efficiently carry out their tasks. The staff member who wrapped my purchase also kindly explained the product to me. The shop was filled with seasonal sweets inspired by spring, and there were quite a few customers buying them. Here's what I bought: Yuzu Komaru (315 yen): The yuzu scent was strong even before I opened the transparent double-wrapped package. The sweet was fresh and juicy, almost overflowing with fruit juice, justifying the double wrapping. The appearance was shiny, like yuzu jam. When I tasted it, the yuzu peel had a slight bitterness, and the sweetness from the sugar coating was refreshing. Inside, there was clear agar jelly with red beans, creating a refreshing look. The sugar sweetness was stronger than the yuzu peel, making it a luxurious and delicious treat. I would definitely buy it again. (Note: This product needs to be refrigerated. It tastes even better when chilled.) Kinako Mochi (157 yen): This snack consisted of seven small kinako-covered mochi pieces. The finely ground kinako sparkled and stuck to the mochi. Therefore, it wasn't messy to pick up. The mochi was made of gyuhi, but it wasn't overly sweet. The separate black syrup had a caramel-like color, rich flavor, and could be added to taste. I felt it was a bit pricey considering the quantity. Yomogi Mochi (157 yen): Contrary to its name, it didn't feel like mochi. It had a slightly chewy texture like water yokan. Mine had the red bean paste unevenly spread on one side (lol). The deep green yomogi color and red bean paste were visually appealing. The red bean paste was smooth and sweet like yokan, with a strong yomogi scent. It had a unique elasticity and interesting texture. Yuzu Komaru was delicious... I also planned to buy the kuzumochi listed on the website but couldn't find it this time. I would like to try the popular dorayaki next time.

Sasaya Iori is located in Daimaru underground. They sell limited dorayaki on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of every month. Originally sold at the Kongo-ji Temple in Kyoto during the Koboichi festival on the 21st, they now sell it two days before and after. This dorayaki is unique, shaped like a stick and has a chewy texture with sweet red bean paste inside. It's a simple and interesting snack. It may be a bit much for one person, but it can last about a week, making it a nice treat to enjoy with tea.

【Revisit in March 2011】This time, I bought the classic Japanese sweets. I purchased the year-round product "Senkaku Manrai" and the seasonal product "Azuki Mochi". Senkaku Manrai is a steamed bun with chestnut-filled white bean paste, condensed milk, butter, and honey. It tastes similar to milk manju and is very delicious. The skin is slightly thin and the moist filling balances well. Azuki Mochi is more like a dorayaki than mochi. It has a chewy thin skin wrapped around red bean paste. The texture is interesting, somewhat similar to agar-agar. However, the use of too many eggs in the dough left a lingering egg-like odor after eating. Both were bought unpackaged for home consumption. I don't remember the exact prices, but Senkaku Manrai was around 105 yen and Azuki Mochi was around 170 yen. 【Initial review from August 2010 visit】It's hot every day, so I felt like eating Mizuyokan. I have tried the Kuzukiri from this shop before, but Mizuyokan is new to me. It comes in a tube, not a cup. When I broke off the protrusion like a pudding, it slid out onto the plate smoothly. I tried cutting it like yokan, but it was a big mistake! It couldn't be eaten with a Japanese toothpick or a fork! The dough is too loose to pierce. It breaks apart from where it's stabbed. I hurriedly put it in my mouth before it crumbled. It crumbles in the mouth. This texture may not appeal to everyone. I might prefer it a bit firmer. Is it just a matter of getting used to it? The sweetness is subtle and the taste is truly elegant. But why isn't it in a cup? It's difficult to eat with a spoon after putting it on a plate... How should it be eaten correctly? Should I put it in a small bowl and use a spoon after cutting it? Or maybe chopsticks? (laughs) How do others eat it? It was delicious, but I struggled with how to eat it and forgot to savor the taste. My post-meal thought was, "What if this was served at someone's house?" I'm currently contemplating how to eat the second one.

I bought this dorayaki which is only sold for 3 days a month (on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd) at Sapporo Daimaru store. The Daimaru basement is always crowded, you can barely walk! It's directly connected to the station, so I went to Sasaya Iori's corner and saw the dorayaki stacked up. Surprisingly, it came in a big box. When I opened the box, I found the dorayaki wrapped in a bamboo wrapping. I unwrapped it, but apparently, you're supposed to cut it from the top of the wrapping. This dorayaki is completely different from the traditional one! The skin wrapped around it is like a Baumkuchen, with a sticky texture that is surprisingly heavy. It felt a bit strange at first, but from the second bite, I got hooked on the unique taste. The sticky, chewy skin is delicious. It has a hint of honey flavor, and the sweet bean paste inside is not too sweet, which makes it interesting and worth trying at least once. If I can buy it nearby, I would definitely want to eat it again.
