Tonight, things have calmed down a bit in Oita, so I decided to go out for a drink outside the city. I have been to the city center before, but it is my first time visiting Masayume Harukoma Store (^-^)/ Located on Harukoma Street in Nishi-Obihiro, near Asahiya on the west side. The exterior is a one-story building with white walls. The interior is clean, with a counter seating for 6 and several table seats for 4-6 people. There is a smoking area. I made a reservation for 17:00. They were out of fresh rolled sushi, but when I asked, they said they could make it for me. I ordered the Special Fresh Rolled Sushi for 2,500 yen, an eel tempura for 880 yen, a grilled eggplant with miso and cheese for 650 yen, pork skewers for 380 yen, plum and shiso meatball skewers for 590 yen, and chicken liver skewers for 400 yen. The food arrived in 12 minutes. I was told that the fresh rolled sushi used to be around 1,200 yen, but due to the high cost and difficulty of obtaining ikura, it is now around 2,500 yen. It was beautifully rolled and delicious. The freshly fried eel was fluffy and very tasty. The miso with wood buds was delicious. I will eat ramen and head home. I went to the restaurant "Shun-sai Masayume Harukoma-ten"! I've been here a few times before. Today, after work, I decided to have a drink, kind of like a New Year's gathering. It's the day before a 3-day weekend! When I arrived at the restaurant, I noticed that there were fewer cars parked than usual. It's probably because it's just after New Year's and not many people are out. My companion for today is a colleague who I've spent a lot of time with last year. We talked about our resolutions for this year, so it was a serious meeting! We toasted with beer and Calpis and ordered a lot of food. Masayume has another branch in town, and both are popular izakayas with stylish ambiance and delicious food. Today, we decided to order a bit more luxurious dishes: - Tempura of true cod - Shrimp with mayonnaise - Country-style pizza - Octopus sashimi - Tofu with crab miso - Chicken and vegetable skewers - Pork skewers - Ramen salad It was a bit fancier than usual (^_^;) The tempura of true cod was my colleague's request, and it was delicious and flavorful. The tofu with crab miso was surprisingly rich in flavor and went well with sake. The country-style pizza was a bit monotonous in color, but it turned out to be a delicious potato-filled pizza. We also tried some sake, and the recommended "Dassai" was really good. I can't really describe the taste, but it was delicious (^_^) As the restaurant started to empty out, we decided to head home. 2015.10 Update: It's been a year since I last visited. The small private rooms were fully booked, seems like this place is quite popular. In addition to that, they had fried chicken (250 yen at the event) and draft beer (180 yen at the event) available for cheap. (Last day of the event) I enjoyed dishes like rolled omelette and steamed oysters. In 2014.10, my family and I wanted to have a meal at an izakaya, so we decided to come here after seeing it in a local town magazine. It's located a bit east from the intersection of Harukoma Street and Sakae Street. Since it's a suburban restaurant, many people come by car. Perhaps because of this, they seem to have a partnership with a designated driver service, which offers a discount, providing a sense of security even if you end up drinking too much. In addition to the menu items shown in the picture, we ordered daikon salad, burdock sticks, two plates of assorted tempura (5 popular items and 5 vegetables), and half a portion of fried young chicken for 850 yen, totaling just under 8,000 yen. I was the only one who had alcohol, and we got a free soft drink with a coupon from the town magazine, so the price was this low. But if everyone had been drinking, we would have probably spent around 4,500 yen per person, considering the amount of food we would have ordered. The standout dish was the sailfin poacher. I often get disappointed with izakaya poachers that have thin meat, but the ones here were incredibly thick and flavorful with plenty of fat. It's been a while since I had such delicious and thick sailfin poacher at this price. The sailfin poacher alone makes this place worth visiting. The burdock sticks and other dishes were also delicious. I definitely want to come back here.

I went to the Masayume Harukoma-dori store. Even though it was a weekday, the restaurant was full. The reason for the weekday full house seemed to be a 3-day limited campaign with draft beer for 180 yen. They also had other deals like 3 grilled oysters for 500 yen, and a sashimi platter for 1000 yen reduced to 500 yen. The oysters were okay, and the sashimi platter had 4 pieces per person, which seemed a bit expensive. The motsunabe (tripe hot pot) was delicious, but the tripe itself wasn't that great. Some staff were friendly, but others not so much. Overall, it felt like a different restaurant compared to the one near the station. It's not bad, but it could be better!
