In November 2017, I revisited Seicomart, a convenience store chain in Japan. Besides their hot chef-prepared foods, Seicomart also offers a variety of daily-made dishes priced around 100 yen. The selection includes noodles, salads, dumplings, meatballs, and more. You can mix and match these dishes to create your own meal, making it a convenient and affordable option. With so many choices available, you can enjoy a different meal every day without getting bored. Seicomart's 100 yen dishes are a great option for a quick and satisfying meal.

The Seikoma near my house wasn't registered, so I went to Umegaoka instead. Here, they make side dishes and bento boxes in the store. You can enjoy freshly made food inside the store, as there is an eat-in space. It's convenient for having a meal or a coffee, almost like a cafe. It may not be suitable for a date, but it's great for meetings. Personally, I only drink coffee, and occasionally have sweets like dorayaki or cream puffs.

In recent years, the convenience store industry has been dominated by Seven-Eleven, with over 15,000 stores nationwide, while Seicomart has around 1,200 stores, which is only a fraction of the size. However, Seicomart's history dates back to August 1971, older than Seven-Eleven's first store in May 1974. The biggest feature of Seicomart is its "Hot Chef" system, where about 60-70% of stores have this system, offering freshly made bento boxes, hot snacks, and even freshly baked bread. While other convenience store chains also offer hot snacks like fried chicken, Seicomart's unique feature is having dedicated cooking staff apart from sales staff. One of the most delicious items is the "Katsu-don". The store also offers hand-made "large onigiri", fried chicken, and fried potatoes, which are all classic favorites. The reviewer particularly enjoys the Katsu-don, considering it better than other convenience store options or even some family restaurants, given the price. The Seicomart at Chitose Umegaoka store was renovated a few years ago, making it more spacious with a larger parking area. It is the only 24-hour store among the 15 Seicomart stores in Chitose, making it very convenient for customers.
