The snow that started falling on the night of the 21st was quite heavy. The roads were narrow and bumpy, and cars were driving slowly, making it difficult to commute to work. I took a paid vacation and decided to go to Tomakomai instead of Sapporo. The amount of snow in Tomakomai was unbelievable. This restaurant only operates on weekdays, so it was a good opportunity to visit. They open relatively early, so I called to confirm they were open before visiting. The restaurant is located on the first floor of an apartment building, next to a restaurant called "Taru Mai Ken" with a similar yellow exterior, which could be confusing. I parked at the far end of the apartment complex, assuming it was for residents, and then confirmed with the owner before entering. Inside, there were two air purifiers running. I sat at the counter and noticed a smell of cigarettes, and saw ashtrays on each table. There were signs stating that smoking was allowed and entry was prohibited for those under 20 years old. As a former smoker aged 20 to 40, I found the post-lunch cigarette the most enjoyable, so this restaurant caters to smokers. While it's the owner's choice, it would be better to have signs at the entrance. The restaurant is run by a slightly older woman. I chose the pork cutlet curry, a dish I always crave at these types of restaurants. The pork cutlet was small, served with salad and soup. The cutlet was moist rather than crispy, and the curry was mild and suitable for children. I usually don't have mild curry, so it was a fresh experience. Coffee was served after the meal, which seemed to be pre-made but heated up, although there was a coffee grinder in the restaurant. The salad, soup, and coffee for 900 yen was a good deal. It's understandable that there are regular customers who enjoy chatting with the friendly female owner. Thank you for the meal.

Today's job site was Akenoshincho. Just a 3-minute drive away, my partner OG and I had a working man's meal! The daily special lunch of salt-grilled saury was on offer. After some deliberation, I chose the oyakodon, while my partner went for the pork chop onion lunch with a delicious texture and creamy egg. It was so tasty! My partner also enjoyed it and finished it in about 5 minutes! Oyakodon 750 yen, Pork Chop Lunch 850 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

Eating seafood raw is the way to go for Hokkaido locals. But I do enjoy curry and tempura too! I recently tried the Seafood Curry with Surf Clam, and it was delicious! In Tomakomai, where I'm from, there's a stamp rally for Hokkaido curry. If you visit all 21 participating restaurants, you can become a "Hokkaido Curry Master"! It's a fun challenge, but I don't think I can make it! (laughs) The Hokkaido Seafood Curry with Surf Clam Salad and Soup was 900 yen. It was a great meal!

Mom has two older sisters, almost like a big sister! It's been 33 years, but she looks dignified and youthful! Established in 1988, there used to be hall girls back then, but now it's a one-person operation. Wasn't there a manga book with thousands of volumes here and at Bora Bora Island (closed)? The background music is Western music like Ed Sheeran. From the counter seat, I had the daily lunch special, salmon mayo fry and squid daikon, with a bowl of rice. The main dish was great, but the first fallen leaf miso soup of the season was delicious. The eggplant pickle was also impressive! Reflecting on the 33-year gap, I must visit again! Daily lunch special for 850 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

It is a cafe located a little north of Aeon Mall Tomakomai, near Tomakomai Higashi Hospital. I ordered a blend coffee (400 yen). The coffee arrived in about 5 minutes. I paid in cash. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

In the neighborhood, there is a hospital, a cafeteria, a bus terminal, a vocational school, and an economics high school, creating a diverse area. If you come straight north from the Aeon, you'll find it. The walls are covered with lots of manga. The very chatty owner and I had a great conversation. We talked about old times and had a good laugh about stories from 40 years ago. The pink phone near the entrance is nostalgic. The younger generation these days don't know how to use it, haha. I'll definitely come back for lunch next time! Thank you for the delicious meal.
