I opened just last month, and while I wanted to visit before heading to Thailand, I couldn't make it, so I went after my trip. I ordered the limited-time yellow chicken curry! My partner asked me what "yellow" meant, but Thai curries come in three colors: green, red, and yellow. However, when I went ten years ago, the flavor was really bland, and it was just spicy without much else, leaving me with a bitter memory. The yellow curry here is reminiscent of Japanese spice curry, with coarser spices, and it's quite pleasant. Personally, I felt like I could have used a bit more chicken—Thai chicken tends to be on the tougher side, and if it were more like the juicy momo style we have here in Japan, I would have wanted even more.

I had the Half & Half set which included a vegetable green curry and a tai dashi rice noodle dish. It was delicious, with the flavors of the ingredients shining through in an ethnic style! It was a meal that made my body feel good. The ample vegetables in the green curry were delightful; it had a rich flavor that paired perfectly with the rice. The fried egg on top of the rice was another nice touch. The rice noodles had a refreshing taste, packed with umami that kept it interesting. The set also came with a cold tea made from Koshihikari brown rice, which had a taste that truly nourished the body. The additional Setouchi lemon lemonade had a refreshing sweetness that was just right, making it a perfect drink after the meal. The staff members all had wonderful smiles and provided pleasant service. It's a place that revitalizes both the mind and body, and I plan to visit again.

I had a half-and-half lunch of red curry and tom yum prawn soup noodles (fresh rice noodles). The red curry was not spicy at all, and the rice used was Japanese rice. The tom yum prawn soup noodles had a strong prawn flavor and good aroma, but the sweetness was quite strong. I tried adjusting the flavors with the chili powder and vinegar available on the table, but the sweetness remained prominent. I entered the restaurant after seeing a sign that said "Thai curry and rice noodles," but I learned that they adjusted the flavors to cater to Japanese tastes, aiming to help Japanese people enjoy rice. Thank you for the meal!

At the former Kitchen Jiro location in Iwamotocho, a new Thai restaurant has opened. I entered after 1 PM, and there were quite a few customers inside. I ordered the Tai-dashi Soba for 880 yen. I showed the flyer I received on the street and got a mini red curry that arrived in about three minutes. The curry was mild in many ways, not spicy at all, and had a subtle ethnic flavor. It felt like a healthy, thin curry; the rice paired perfectly with it, which was great.
Now for the main dish, the Tai-dashi Soba. I took a sip of the soup and it was not what I expected; instead of a light broth, it was quite rich. Because of that, it had a strong fish flavor, which might be seen as a bit peculiar. The noodles were slippery and chewy. The flavor was decent, but the chopsticks were slim and the noodles were so slippery! I had some trouble figuring out how to eat them. The bean sprouts and chicken were rather bland.
As for my companion's dish, the Ebi-dashi Tom Yum Noodles, I took a taste. In my opinion, it was quite sweet, which I don't prefer. However, I noticed in other reviews that they mentioned no sugar was used. Huh. Overall, the ethnic flavor was subdued. It felt like a place for those who don't seek strong flavors. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a Thai restaurant that opened on October 7th, which uses domestic rice. They serve "Namara no Kaori," a special rice developed in collaboration with a rice farmer from Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. I tried their Tom Yum shrimp noodle soup made from 100% of this rice, and it was rich and delicious. I really wanted some rice on the side... Since it was the opening day, it would have been nice to have a complimentary small serving of rice!

The ramen place next door, Jiro, has closed down, and a Thai curry restaurant has opened up. I’m happy to work while catching a faint whiff of delicious curry. I’m glad it’s not ramen. I tried the green curry, and it was really sweet—much sweeter than I expected. I heard there’s no sugar at all in it; the sweetness comes from the coconut and onions. Is this level of sweetness normal in Thailand? Next time, I’m hoping for something spicier, so I’ll go for the red curry.
