June 6, 2021. Today, I can at least support restaurants by being careful. Let's all do our best! I went for lunch and drinks in the city to show my support. I visited "TOKACHI PIZZA&WINE NICOBARU" for the second time to support them. The place is located in the heart of Obihiro. The exterior is part of the Tencho Nogaya building, while the interior is cozy with an L-shaped counter seating for 9. I ordered a cheese platter and a beer, chatted with the handsome manager, and promised to come back for dinner next time. Takeout is available during the state of emergency. Operating hours are 11:00-20:00 (last order at 19:00), and currently, they do not have regular closing days.

On May 17, I visited a new Italian bar restaurant called "TOKACHI PIZZA&WINE NICOBARU" in Obihiro, Hokkaido. The place was cozy with a small L-shaped counter seating for 9 people. I ordered the daily lunch plate for 1,000 yen and a white liver skewer for 300 yen. The lunch plate included sautéed sea bream with yuzu butter, chicken Karaage with tartar sauce, roast beef bowl, salad, shiitake mushrooms, and quail eggs. The sea bream was crispy on the outside and tender inside with a hint of yuzu butter flavor, very delicious. The roast beef was tender with a sweet sauce, also very tasty. The Karaage and shiitake mushrooms were freshly fried and juicy. I had a pleasant chat with the handsome manager and promised to come back for dinner next time. Overall, a great dining experience at NICOBARU. Takeout available during the state of emergency period. Operating hours are from 11:00 to 20:00, with no scheduled holidays.

Nikobaru was the fourth stop on our food stall hopping adventure, and I was feeling full and sleepy from all the food and drinks we had already consumed. The salami appetizer went well with both Western liquor and beer. My friend ordered a spicy pizza, although I can't remember the name. The pizza had a thin, crispy crust which I really enjoyed. I wish I had tried it when I was not already full and sleepy. The leaflet at the food stall said it was casual Italian dining, which seemed accurate.

The dish of "Bagna Cauda" looks nothing like the photo, it is meager. Is that accompanied by vegetable sticks and cherry tomatoes? There are two types of sauces pictured but one looks like a drawn line, so in reality, it's just one type of sauce. The tomatoes and other vegetables are not particularly tasty. There is no sense of attention to quality ingredients. There is nothing special about the preparation.

I went drinking on a business trip to Tokachi! The menu was like a typical Italian one, but all the dishes were delicious with good quality ingredients! The cheese on the pizza was also from Tokachi maybe? It was rich and delicious!!

Visited during the fireworks festival in Obihiro. Originally supposed to be closed on Sundays, but ended up being a serendipitous visit. This lovely restaurant, run efficiently by just two people, served us delicious Italian cuisine. The pizza was authentic and delicious, but took some time so it was good we ordered it first. The salad, especially the recommended spa salad, was intricate and flavorful. The yakitori, featuring prominently in the photos, was very tasty with a nice crispy exterior. We ordered two additional dishes: 1) a unique dish combining Japanese and Italian cultures through tripe stew, with a refreshing peppery finish, and 2) fried nagaimo with a spicy sauce, offering a satisfying texture. For dessert, the mushroom risotto was absolutely delicious!

After cutting the firewood at home, it was time to split the logs. I only did about a quarter of the work, but still managed to show off that I did it! I ended up going out to town because I felt like going for a drink. I wanted to try a restaurant that I had been curious about, but unfortunately they were fully booked. So, I decided to visit Nicoval, a seafood Italian restaurant for my second choice. The restaurant used to be called Shujaku Mon (I visited once before but didn't post about it, I remember the ochazuke was good). I sat at the counter and ordered a Sapporo Classic beer for 500 yen. The cover charge of 500 yen included an appetizer, which seemed to be roast beef based on the menu. It looked good and tasted great with the mustard provided. They had a specialty dish called "White Egg Original Omelette" for 300 yen, and I chose salsa sauce as the topping. The omelette was made with miraculous white eggs from Takeuchi Poultry Farm, and it was fluffy and delicious. The visual of the white egg and red salsa sauce was also appealing. I also ordered grilled shrimp and grilled tsubu (a type of shellfish) for 200 yen each. The shrimp seemed to have been grilled raw, and the tsubu seemed to have been taken from the freezer. I also ordered a Genovese pizza for 480 yen, which was crispy with a shrimp on each slice. It paired well with a light red wine. Overall, Nicoval is a cozy pub that serves Western-style dishes made with Tokachi ingredients. It's a good choice for a second stop on a night out. If you're looking for heartier dishes, they also offer dishes like beef tongue steak at reasonable prices. The restaurant also offers delivery within the bustling city area. I recommend checking their Facebook page for special deals, like the Nicoval Day on the 25th of every month. It was a delightful dining experience at this cheerful restaurant. Thank you for the meal!
